The hypodermics are a major upswing in design over the basic, original Rages. Other than opening action, there is little that is the same. I am a big fan of Grim Reapers personally, and shoot them with 60lbs/28in around 400 gr. arrows. I've passed through all but one deer since 2010 with them. I would like to see more shoulder shot deer (ie knuckle, not the blade) with the hypodermics before saying I would shoot them, but Moog's kill was a pretty dead deer in short distance. We didn't find the arrow because it is still orbiting earth with all that KE/Momentum.

Time to move on and take care of the next land owner. Even if you do everything, sometimes it still is not enough. That's life when you don't pay the taxes.

Al, do these dogs have the capability to learn antler hunting or blood trailing for deer? What size are the grown adults for your line?

IN a deers mouth, or just carry a roll of electrical tape and wrap around a leg. Many ways to meet this legally.I don't mess with one until we are done dragging other than filling out. I've lost tags before and just hoped I didn't get ran into by a ECO. Not worth it.

Don't let Vince act too humble....besides the call making...he's a heck of a brain to pick when it comes to archery hunting.

For the ground. Not exactly an open pattern for treestand hunting in NY.
-
If the buck is hanging up, go to him. Decoys work but this situation seems clear unless there are other barriers in play.
-
I talked with Vince today (Vector). He may be joining the site to chime in with some call suggestions. Bright guy and not a salesman...just one of us.
-
Vince owes me lol.

Predator and ASAT open patterns are where its at. Wish they were more commerically available.
-
Post the pic, not the pic of a pic. That'll really help.

Mine is on the left, friend's is on right. Mine was hit high into liver after a deflection, but she went down within 75 yds. Moog was too busy typing on his phone to notice bucks walking by on this hunt, lol.

What order do you follow for correct shot/angle from tree stand?

Someone tried to peek at their arrow... Weve all been there. Draw level, the bend, shoot if you can. Eventually itll become natural and you wont even notice. -
Two does and a basket 6. All within ten yds. Probably it for morning.

8C and other similar units downstate used to allow hunters to shoot does and get an either sex tag in return, allowing you to shoot an additional buck. I think that was changed this past season to just antlerless.

It was a pretty big difference. Enough to the point I was resigned to using the solar/external as a wau to get a few more weeks, not months. I want to say if was in the 10x18 range, but could be wrong.

Agreed. I think the issue is the #1 dinstinction. I don't think NY is the worst. Certainly top ten...but not worst.
-
Data is data. Someone quoting another publicly released data source doesn't implicate them into whatever viewpoints the author has. I could do the same thing with poor people using US Census information, stating that these are the ten worst states to live in. Doesn't mean the US or the Census group hates poor people. They merely collected the data on it. Media slants are nothing new. Skew data to make their opinion, belief, etc. more digestable.

Someone on chasing game did the math and the panel needs to be much bigger than what is commerically available to offset the draw on these cams even for an average number of pics.
-
Most of the panel sizes from the current vendors are too small. We have a panel on one and same thing. It certainly lasts longer, but the panels are too small size wise. When the panel gets down too low with the external battery, the internals should kick in, but the problem is they wear down, too. So eventually, you're losing transmissions. Batteries never seem to go back up beyond 7 once it gets to six.
-
Better get some batteries in that puppy. You're going to start losing transmissions.
