  1. You must have missed the glaring part where he said he hunts Westchester and CT. Two different states.
  2. Sleepy Creek typically makes good traps, but those are duds.
  3. I know Bernie. He's OK...can't say anything he writes about is groundbreaking. It's just a re-hash typical swill from a writer.
  4. And, as an FYI, I have seen a pic in the Rochester area in the 200" gross range with a net around 189ish. But that's not breaking the record. That's about the biggest I have seen this season.
  5. I really like Concolor...or however it is spelled. Love the fragrance it gives off. PLus the time spent with family is priceless.
  6. yes it was ohio. the article all over fb is from ashtabula co.
  7. iwom or hbs. anything else is simply not as warm.
  8. four more....eight d within 30 yds thus far. not an antler out there.
  9. four more....eight d within 30 yds thus far. not an antler out there.
  10. just passed a doe. ugh. double thinking.
  11. we got one of those quarter inch crusty snows overnight. nothing you can do but make noise. sitting in my iwom all warm along a pine stand at the bottom of a couple hills. hoping something pokes around. jumped one small doe from her bed on way in. such is life at this time of year.
  12. you can adjust the trigger pull weight on it. short range meaning my shooting environment...not the gun limitations.
  13. the gauge is for alkalines. dont go by it with lithiums for sure....go by pic count to be safe. lithiums will show full or very near to it and the battieres could be practically dead. rechargeables are a different voltage so thats why you are seeing the percent difference.
  14. No. As I said, very leery of store specific or one-off models. Better off going with a 990 if you are a die hard Moultrie fan for the price difference - heck you can find the 990 cheaper at other places than what Dick's is selling the 800 and 900 store models for.
  15. Not sure what you are saying. Are you asking for a comparable cam in the Covert line? The 800 is a store special model. Basically it's a washed down 990 - almost all of the store specific models are not the best buys based on cost/feature. I would also call the 800 a 2013.5 model year cam. The problem is they hodge podge parts between lines and I can't say I've seen many be THAT good. The only cam I can think of is the Spypoint G4...that cam has been good for the money, but is a red IR. I'd actually say it probably falls in between the MP6 Black and Black 60. Problem is, some claims by Moultrie tend to be exaggerated. Case in point...100 ft. night range. That's a bit ludicrous. Again, it's probably an OK cam.
  16. When you are ready for more cams, pm me. We can talk.
  17. I learned switching to lithium AAs (when feasible) are a better option to reduce problems that can come with external boxes and solar panels. Everything from condensation you noted, to the batteries being fried, to extra weight to tote, to rodents chewing on the cable, to squirrels pulling the cables out. The only solar panel/6v I would consider now is for my Code Blacks just because of the power draw they have with connecting to the network and transmitting. I don't like keeping them out in winter though other than to see what made it past the season for the first post-season week or two. The problem with condensation in the winter is that its all around you. Simply closing an air tight box can yield condensation at this time of year. No difference in lifespan, from what I can gather. The build up is similar to what you would get on a car battery.
  18. Trail Cam Pro can't provide objective feedback because they sell the cams they rate.
  19. 800? It's a relatively new cam specially sold to Dicks....its a black flash cam that's paired down and has limited reviews right now. It's probably an OK cam long the lines of the 880 and 990. Not great, not bad.
  20. Be careful of the hangons....you can't see the damage on the cables because they rust inside out.
  21. Bought a 700 ADL (with the cheap scope) at Wal Mart on Black Friday in a .243. Got it for a cheap but decent short range deer rifle. $330 out the door. Like the American they had there for $285 (no scope) but it was a bit front heavy with a super light stock. Axis was on my radar for $230 no scope...but a 700 is a better option I think...customizable. Ditching the scope for a Vortex and going to add a thumbhole stock after the year. I think Livingston is going rifle next year...(my guess). I know my state sentator sent me a letter saying he was going to introduce the bill again and as history has it, if the county doesn't get it in the first go-round, they get it in the second.
  22. Yes, in my experience this is an indicator of does coming into estrous. It's a skeleton % of the typical November timeframe, but a few will be about. Many scrapes are active year-round, but the fresh broken ground in December to me always seems to coincide with a late doe that I encounter. It's tough to really capitalize on given the pressure.
  23. I really like Direct TV, but I have had to have a few long boring and unpleasant calls about pricing. My pricing kept creeping up because they use a variety of discounts that term at different times - talking after the 2 year contract. Its been a pain. I love their service, but I have mid-level programming and I'm still paying more than I think I should for one dvr and two regular receivers. I pay right now more than $80 a month for it alone and no amount of calling, negotiating, etc. will reduce it. Problem is, I hate TWC cable more than anything else.
