  1. Weren't you anti cell cameras because you get 1,000s of pics a week? The cold front should help that is for sure.
  2. I have done it about 15-20 times. People used to walk their dogs across it. That blew my mind. I'm pretty sure it was "illegal or not allowed" but people did it alot back in the day.
  3. He got a little nervous when I started throwing out a full body mount concept on a doe, LOL. Thankfully he just got the hide tanned for me.
  4. Agreed, one of our best pieces of ground is within close distance to not one but two ranges. Deer pay no mind.
  5. A cabin would be cool for sure - Although with time spent there, not sure I'd have my mounts at a cabin if I wasn't there enough to ward off burglaries, bugs, etc. I'd be nervous leaving them! LOL. I don't get enough of the cabin/camp experience nowadays other than travel hunting, which is different IMO. Most of my early hunting days were cabin/camp based. I am pretty sure I slept better there at camp than any other time in my life. I am sure you'll have a blast building it too.
  6. Thanks. It was an awkward size room but it came out very nice. TV/Media, place to watch ball games, prep for hunting, etc. I'm sure you'll fill the wall up this season!
  7. Probably my last update. Room is done, it’s a bit of mess as hunting gear is a bit strewn about - and I’m OK with that in season lol - but we did add on the two wall peds from 2020. I was hoping to do a barrel mount with the three 2020 bucks but I just don’t have room in there. Mostly because I need one bare wall as the background for work video meetings. I’ll add a beverage cooler and probably add in some of my euro mounts, and a shed rope off the desk pipes to hold sheds I’ve collected. Outside that it is time to enjoy it and hopefully be forced to swap out a mount with a new 2021 deer. Lord willing.
  8. Good luck to all. Three days out of the woods for me due to work and stuff around the house needing done. Probably in a stand tomorrow evening and looking forward to the temp drop this weekend although rain may be a factor.
  9. Mid Oct might be the last time I'd choose an outfitter for whitetails. I think I'd rather have Sept, early Oct, late Oct, all of Nov and Dec....but mid Oct...meh. If seeing new ground and a new experience is worth it, then that may be the driver. The cost is good, but what are the ancillary costs, too. Food, lodging, transit, etc. You can OTC Ohio for $500-1K all in and have alot of public land to traverse, comparatively.
  10. Dang, hope he recovers smooth. Plenty of seasons left for him I bet. Last night was an abomination. First time in this stand, and no bow holder despite making a note to bring one. Sweet. SSE wind was moving SW, either due to bad wind prediction or the lay of the land. That was problematic, as soon as I realized it in the stand and started the guessing game - no other stand here and not alot of movable options - a doe decided to come downwind and let me know what she thought of me 2x before leaving. At 6:40 prime time, she comes back and proceeds to do the same 41 times....41 blows in 15 minutes. No shot due to grapevines hanging between us. She wouldn't leave, couldn't find me, but knew I was there. I didn't want to give up the stand either but did yell at her once and nothing. Due to property lines I may end up putting on my leafy suit and sitting the ground this weekend to hopefully take her out as she came off a neighbor. A true SSE would have been nicer, lol. At least the Bills won.
  11. In. First sit here and already learning wind isn’t doing what it should here. Getting way more SW direction. As soon as I realized I got snorted at twice downstream. I have deer between me n truck now and no real other moves. Rarely do this but I’ll stick it out. Still have one major route in play.
  12. What is the logic on two weeks? In two weeks, things are markedly different. If the bed worked you should take another shot way before two weeks.
  13. One final pic and now it’s time to put phone away. We’re here for one deer. Let’s see if he shows.
  14. What is going on here? That little is going to be a giant if he can live. 8 points and first rack.
  15. Pass #2 on this guys this year and 3rd overall now.
  16. In. Partner is in the real kill stand tonight. On the left side of the image up about 100 yards from me. I’m covering one interior trail and one lane exiting the plot heading to beans and greens. Plus I can get down and have enough cover to blow the deer out of this plot without giving his stand up.
  17. That is some serious shot angle unless you are on a hillside. I’ve been in a few of those stands earlier in my life - hard pass now lol.
  18. I have shipped about 50 muzzleloaders out since Jan 1 via USPS. Make sure it is in a good stable box, wrap with thick quality brown packaging/wrapping paper. Go to USPS website, create and account, weigh, measure and follow the steps. Schedule a pick up and they'll pick it up on your door step. It'll arrive just fine. While completely legal to ship USPS (short of jurisdictions like NYC), going in person ends up being a hassle because they'll ask you if its a bang stick and most don't know the difference when you try to explain. Ends up being a real hassle. Just wrap it, do it online, and schedule a home pick up. Set it on your doorstep and they zap it into the system with their scanner and its off to the races.
  19. I had a solid 3 Mississippi hangfire last year, been a while since that happened. I did my best to stay composed but that doe heard the hammer drop and jumped forward. That shot went a foot behind her. She proceeded to hang around just behind some branches where I couldn't get another shot. I was fuming mad at myself. I am pretty sure the powder got wet/moisture in it - we were snow packed for a few weeks at that time. I felt better after a while since it was a clean miss. Mine was with BH209 and I fault myself on it.

    YIKES

If we can't make fun of ourselves we're not living right. Plus, we all have gripes and no answers to this. Just like the rest of the country. Stay salty, my friend.
