  1. Thanks for all of the info - I'm starting to zero in on Carmine's on UWS for dinner Sunday - have to check if they are open/reservations. Short walk from the Natural History museum? I don't know if we'll make it to the UN area; most of my past time in NYC was working there. Funny story, while I was never paid by the UN, I did alot of work for them when in HS and college. Enough so that I was an attaché for Kyrgyzstan for a week there in NYC when I was a senior in college; they put me up in the Marriott Marquis at Times Square. That group was insane - I mean like, "you want girls?" kind of insane. Dinners and meals were off the charts and barely any actual work. Telling me stories westerners wouldn't believe - that place is all about wealth gap and have vs have nots and this group was clearly in the "have." That week was a blur. Also spent two weeks in The Hague working in the ICJ and that was equally insane for different reasons. It's amazing how much stuff goes on in NYC everyday. I enjoyed it, but there was no way I'd have a family life working in international relations. Changed majors and cest la vie.
  2. Wow, I had a feeling I might get some good info here! I appreciate it. Looks like we might try to do a steakhouse on Saturday for dinner and then maybe Italian Sunday. The guidelines around the streets and walking is going to help no doubt. It is tough with only a few days but we'll make the most of it!
  3. I don't bullhead fish much...maybe once every other year but I've had bucket filler nights. The biggest bullhead I've ever seen caught was at 10AM on a sunny day on clear gravel bed just off the park midway down Conesus. Couldn't believe it. Caught on a nightcrawler.
  4. Life is too short not to pursue your dreams. Go get it.
  5. Common language. Probably something they on either side will never forget. That type of interaction would be way more enjoyable to me on an African safari/hunt than actually taking game.
  6. We've decided to go w/backpacks only (IE like my Sitka Fanatic or Toolbag pack) so what we bring will be pretty limited for a Sat-Mon trip. If we can swing room for a decent outfit, we will, but it's not a firm plan. I can more easily manage a dual purpose polo and jeans and some quasi dress casual shoes than slacks/sportcoat/dress shoes but if it fits it fits. I get what you are saying about the experience though. Thankfully my mother is familiar with traveling light - we've done several European countries that way when we were both younger. Heck we lived out of two small suitcases in Scotland for 3 months, ha. We'll likely try for Top of the Rock since it'll be amongst a few areas we'll be checking out. Walking vs. the subway/Uber is always where I get tripped up in the city. I've been there 4 times but not frequent enough to quickly make decisions on getting from A to B or planning A to B to C. I'm going to spend some time "studying" the neighborhoods and downloading one of the city apps that help with that kind of detail. The one thing that remains is some sort of water tour - Our Sunday Morning is open and kind of hoping we could use that for one, or maybe do one of the sunset cruises instead of a dinner. Otherwise, Saturday will be arrival to JFK at 9:30AM - plan for they day is 9/11 memorial visit, food on way back to Times Square / Bryant Park / Rock areas, then maybe head over and up to do some shopping and find a dinner place. Sunday AM is open, then lunch, head up to Central Park/Natural History Museum, and dinner place. Monday we have most all of the day as our flight back is not until 8:30PM. I know we're missing alot of the key neighborhoods but I don't know what stands out above key first time things like Times Sq./Empire State/9/11/WTC, etc. I appreciate all of the feedback.
  7. what is the driver on Cardano? I may buy in. I have some Doge/Eth/BTC via RH (Yes I know...).
  8. Thanks. Open to steaks too, but looking to avoid dress code issues - we're packing light.
  9. We wrapped up the two farm parcels in NE Ohio. 3:10 to the stand from my house. Got a few turkey on a cell cam yesterday. Certainly alot of Amish presence yet decent enough sign and recent cam pics and harvest proof to offset my concerns in that space (120-140"). Each property is large enough to handle 3-4 gun hunters without issue and possibly as many as five on one of the parcels, so there is plenty of room to spread out. Great owner, too. I don't expect it to be Coshocton or Licking Co. but the increased accessibility is going to be nice. Big difference between 3:10 and 5-5:30 drive time. For me, it's the difference between being able to shoot down for an overnight or weekend hunt without missing seat time and work, and sleep.
  10. Long story short, my mother is retiring soon and last week lamented the fact her reduced income will not afford her to see or do things she otherwise would pre-retirement. One of them being NYC, which she has never visited. I'm taking her to NYC for the weekend to do a few of the usual tourist things. Staying in Manhattan close-ish to Times Square. Also looking for a restaurant between the 9/11 memorial and Times Square for lunch/dinner. I have not been to Little Italy/Chinatown before - is it worth a visit? What dinner places are around the Natural History museum? Maybe Italian. Assuming reservations remain the norm for any in demand place? Also, what are the cultural protocols right now with the pandemic? People wearing masks walking outside in populated blocks?
  11. Where is ADA listed? I checked RH and Fidelity and neither came up with ADA or Cardano
  12. if you want to go cheap, buy the basic wand set-up for $70-100 and then the black rain attachment. Works well. Boomless and gets you good coverage IMO.
  13. I keep getting older, but they stay the same age...queue Matthew!
  14. We (meaning leadership) were told explicitly we couldn't work outside the 50 states remotely due to payroll/tax scenarios. One of the things that are not being talked about much, but are starting to be, is payroll tax implications - to the EEs, the company, and the tax jurisdictions. Some jurisdictions are blatantly breaking the law - enforcing taxes when it's not applicable - and companies are paying it and not making noise due to commitments on pre-agreed tax breaks/subsidies. They simply can't function without that income and I guess everyone is realizing it and just sweeping it under the rug. It'll break at some point though. I was trying like crazy to get my wife to work from STT or STJ but she wouldn't have it lol. One of my friends has been working from FL for 8 months now. Bastard. If this happened when I was single...my butt wouldn't be working remote from wNY. Although, I am largely planning to do so for a week in Missouri early season. Work all day, then hunt the evenings.
  15. I'm still a few weeks away from second shot, but our company is MILES away from allowing or encouraging travel still. I'm surprised quite frankly. I'd be on a plane in a second after now having gone a year without a flight for the first time since I was in college. I've got EEs in PHX and Tampa/STP that I haven't see since Feb '20 (not counting virtual). Heading to SC in June for personal, but flying nonetheless. I have no idea when I'll travel again for work - and usually I hear groundswell info with my role. Nada.
  16. I am mostly invested in 30-30 and 243 for deer. Problem is my stock piles are 1-2 boxes of different brands...for example, I have 140 rounds of 243 but no more than 40 of one brand/bullet style and weight. Annoying.
  17. Most of my options have been less than 7 days held. I think MRO was 9. And, most of my calls have been on lower prices stuff (less than $15 share price). Trying to step up my game here...I'm OK with pulling quick short gains and not needing the home run hits, but that makes me uncomfortable given that it's less on DD and more on gut.
  18. I need to start growing a pair when it comes to options. I'm now 6 for 6 on options on small scale gains. 160% with an MRO $11 Call. 40% with a $13 Call on AGNC. I ALMOST feel like I'm better at options than stock picking. Not sure why because DD is the same....
  19. I can't recall a time where I used front and back at same time; I use the back 95% of the time because it keeps the kidneys warm and thus helps overall. Some people turn on and off as needed but I find that annoying as it's layered underneath. So in stand I set back on low or medium and let it do its job. Works well that way for morning and evening sits where you break in between in late season. I've also moved away from propane heaters in blinds when I sit them late season occasionally. Instead, I use USB heated blankets and run them on a USB powerbank. No smell and works just fine. I used one in our tent when were in MO for a week in November. Works better than anticipated....$30 well spent all in for battery and blanket!
  20. Mine sits in the left front pocket and never an issue - but I use a thin battery pack - walmart sells them usually in the checkout aisles. $5 or 10...about the size of a wallet but only 3/8" thick maybe. Fits perfect in there with no issue. I never notice or have an issue.
  21. You want the vests to fit tight so the heating elements make contact with you under a thin layer. They're worth every penny IMO. I used one this past season and it was a "what have i been missing" moment. Battery life and heating will vary based on the vest and the maH of the battery. I had a 5200 that would run me for a half day hunt on the middle of three settings for the back only (not the front heating element).
  22. Not alot of good waterproof bibs (or any gear) that are also good when it's not raining. Water resistant, yes. Waterproof gear that is wearable any day of the week weather wise probably isn't ideal in my experience. In the less than 200 space, i might stick to store brands or big box retailers so you have exchange capabilities on shorter notice. Predator gear might be an option as would nomad? Just not sure if it fits waterproof. That is a hard nut to crack. Sitka is way out of range price wise for 200.
  23. My daughter will never want to hunt. She knows alot about it but has zero desire to ever do it. Ah well. I respect her decision. Dying breed. At least in my family chain. I'm the last.
  24. Then I'd only hunt it with a drop off pick up method. Keep it a secret. Nice work.
