Ah! Obviously haven't read the regs. i didn't realize that.

I've never gone small game hunting, but I'm thinking that if I am waiting for a deer and a pheasant (male only in my area), grouse, or rabbit comes along I would think about going for one of them. Do you ever do this? Or does your deer rifle just take out too much flesh to bother?

AFAIK the bulk of falls happen when people are getting in or out of the tree stand. The only safe way to leave the ground is when you are secured to the tree. That can be stepping the belt up every few feet as one typically does when using a climber, or with the life line. Climbing up 20' and then strapping in not only requires you to never lose your footing while strapping in, but also requires the stand to never fail (because if it fails between you leaving the ground and strapping in you fall).

Do you believe that? Because wasn't it just last week the blue wall fell? I see the left doubling down on an approach that failed them badly this year. Do you realize the left lost to Donald Trump? Donald Trump. He couldn't even be bothered to study for his first debate, and picks fights on twitter. The left lost to this guy. And yet you don't think it's time to try something different? The race card didn't work because people are sick of hearing about it. If nothing wakes the left up, this election should have. Even sanders is willing to throw a bone to trump, saying he can work with him on the anti-corporate stuff and some of their platforms shared each other. Pelosi is being challenged. Will she hold on? Probably, but I hope not. I am glad hillary lost, but a left that also drains its swamp will only be better for all of us. But if you guys want to win, you have to start acting like winners. The democrats have lost the presidency, the house, the senate, they are also getting steamrolled across states, losing legislatures. Keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting the same results.

Something to do at Starbucks
Core replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Drinking tims this second, but I can't lie I've been to starbucks a lot lately because the app that lets me pre-order makes me buy coffee BIGLY. Nothing like going into starbucks, walking past all the people standing in line, and grabbing my coffee at the end of the counter, then walking out like a boss. -
I have a co worker who I'm pretty sure didn't even sight his gun in last year. Might explain why he missed a deer on the single day he went out. Some people half-ass it!

Last year during my bowhunting course the DEC officer specifically said that at a certain point in the season you could if you wanted to carry a bow, crossbow, gun at he same time. I personally wouldn't but I believe carrying multiple weapons at the right point in the season to be totally legal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good job, made all the sweeter that it was at the 11th hour and you were running out of season. You'll enjoy every bite

My waterproof boots...aren't.
Core replied to Core's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Dang, I forgot about those. I am tempted to return and buy those only because I know LL Bean's warranty is totally ridiculous. I assume if those ever leak I can just return them even 15 years from now, if their warranty is like anything else. But, they are not real tree. The deer will definitely see me! -

I saw these too. Don't know much about shoes but I could tell they were manufactured in a way the field and stream ones weren't. Like gobs of glue around any seams. They looked really good. -
My waterproof boots...aren't.

I saw those. My problem is that they didn't have any way to tighten the top, so I'm really stuck with the elastic as it was. But maybe the boots are good enough they don't need an adjustable band? -
I didn't pay as much attention during the bush years but I recall he was roundly hated as well and I'm sure stymied at every turn by the dems (notwithstanding their hawking stupidity with the iraq war). In modern American politics are play to win. Nobody should expect any quarter. When you have the power you grind the other side under your boot. The dems will be treated exactly as the republicans would have been had hillary won, which is to say badly, dismissively, and they can go cry somewhere else. In four years maybe they get a turn to turn the screws on the republicans, but until then it's The Purge Election Year and we're going to have some fun with it.

Hitch things are great. I would get one if I didn't have a minivan right now. Loading a deer into a sedan by myself last year was just simply impossible, but this year I was able to get up into the minivan and dead lift it in. Really was not terribly difficult doing it like that. Was jut the right height I could position its head resting against the bumper as I climbed in. Hopefully it didn't put ticks everywhere. The cargo hauler would be ideal on the hitch.

IMO programs like that are doomed to fail due to the tragedy of the commons. Absent a strict, enforced guideline with penalties, you just won't change behavior, particularly on public land.

Ok i went with knock-off muck boots. Field & Stream has 1000 g swamp tracker boots for $99 with 25% off online and I whined at the store and got them to give me the discount in person, plus a $10 store points was $67 out the door. The boots are very, very heavy. Hopefully 1000g is not too much insulation when walking, but probably it will be okay. My kids are annihilating me right now and I felt sick at the thought of spending well over $100 at the moment on some other boots. If these don't stand up, next time I'll try and find some boots with a really great warranty for when they fail. I can tell walking in these won't be as nice as more hiking-like hunting boots but we'll see! If my existing boots didn't have one with a gash I would have tried adding something to them to waterproof them again. -
Pulling Cameras - Prepping for Gut Pile Photos

Interesting idea, I need to remember this. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what you were getting at from the thread title! -
I am sure it's fine. Frankly it's moot anyway; I think the risk of lyme is high enough that sawyers should be used regardless. Amazon used to sell the concentrate but doesn't now. Maybe I could get it on ebay if not tractor supply (post above mine).

On the news in rochester last night there is some big pile of debris from construction and evidently people put signs on it for some reason (maybe if you live in that area you have no hobbies). One sign was somebody a day ago took an old flat screen TV and wrote KKK on it. Also at suny geneseo somebody wrote Trump with a swastika. Now, can you really picture a trump supporter writing trump with a swastika? Honestly how many nazis are there around suny geneso? Probably none. If I had to bet my life I'd say at least one of those was not at all done by a trump supporter, if not both.

Last year I spent $50 (?) or so on some waterproof hunting boots from gander. The nylon ones I guess, with eyelets and laces and all that. 600 gram I think, they are okay but my feet get a bit chilly when temps are down in the 40's. They were fully waterproof. This year I learned that they no longer are (in one case it's because a thorn somehow gashed one of them, but the other isn't, either and it's gash-free). Is this common for waterproofed hunting boots to lose their waterproof-ness? Nylon is naturally not going to be waterproof when made into a boot, so they must soak the fabric with something. And apparently mine wore off. I plan on buying some insulated rubber boots today because I don't see how those could ever lose their waterproofiness. Trying to choose between a field and stream brand boot or get mucks, which all the boys and girls seems to rave about.

Sorry if you're white you're basically immune from hate crimes. It's pretty obvious that some of these crimes are now false flags as well. I have no doubt whatsoever a meaningful percentage of people writing kkk or swastikas or whatever are from the left trying to incite a reaction. In fact, there is proof many of these are fake.
