smoked tongue is very tasty you will need to brine it and remove the skin from them . I use a ham brine soak it for 3-4 days then remove it and cut away the skin I then smoke them at 180 degrees until internal temp reaches 160 let them cool in fridge then slice and enjoy so people I know like to reheat also as far as testies ever heard of mountain oysters that's when they castrate pigs in the south their then sliced breaded and fried and yes they are edible and not overly bad!!

There is 5 extra plates and two knives also with this grinder for the record this grinder has the capability to grind around 700 pound of meat per hour so its by no means a small grinder

they didn't freeze it? I have been processing meats deer and others for over 20 years everything leaves here frozen. the color difference is most likely brought on by air touching the meat hence those packs look nice but they do allow air to enter them and as others have said will cause freezer burn. the multiple small pieces look like flank, neck and stuff that could of been stew meat or ground. The meat shouldn't have any bad taste from the color as long as it was kept cold while your processor had it. them not marking what the cuts are is a little lax but I guess that's how some do it, like I read in earlier post you can do your own its really not hard and their is a lot videos on you tube.

One Outdoor Writer's impression of the 2015 Opener
Critter4321 replied to Doc's topic in Deer Hunting
ya your right I also started before there was even any doe permits in 3M not that I want to date myself LOL But like you said there was more hunters then and we hunted it has been way to easy to fill tags for the last couple years, seems everybody now wants to put out trail cameras and things to help them pick a certain deer out of the herd and when that don't work they get frustrated and blame the no deer left clause. Theirs deer out there sure its a off year brought on by a harder then normal winter and a full moon but to my knowledge they have not started hiding in caves. -

well if it matters in 3M you have to drive slow in the morning to avoid running them over but they seem to be bed down before dawn and not move again until around 6-7 o clock at night per car versus deer police reports. Understandably the full moon has effect on deer movement, I hope the second week turns around as for as hunter pressure goes its no doubt been lower this year then past years. -
I have been using my 270 over 25 years the only problem I can see is up close like 40 yards and under they run out at 300 its like someone pulled the rug from under them I do use a 150 grain bullet though But good luck with what ever you shoot

Does it join your 20 acres Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

yup I get four DMP tags for 3M and there has been times I have filled them all before 9 am not this year of course as deer seemed to learn how to read a calendar and know when opening day has started and I and my family like the taste of venison I also do my own processing

Dirty Dogs, Done Dirt Cheap!

200 grain that's like swatting flies with a sledgehammer sure it does the job but its a little over kill -
let it lay overnight if you have a good blood trail and know where you left off finding it in the morning should not be a issue Good luck

3M sounded like a ghost town compared to years ago
-
it was even bad down here in 3m nothing maybe 15 shots started around 7:20 too not the usual 6:15 very upsetting for a opening morning its like theirs nobody left to hunt and move deer around

Critter4321 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Deer Hunting
well we hate to break it to you like this but your going to have to get out of your stand and go get it, or wait until you see the big yellow ball over head -
I cant say for sure its illegal but its unethical to shoot a cub
-
I don't know how many fights he has won but by the looks of him he has been in a couple congrats anything with a bow should be considered a trophy
-
as a rule of thumb the further apart the ears the bigger the bear I do think its illegal to shoot a bear thats in a group though but I could be mistaken on that
