thoughts...Good weather,fit deer,late breeding?
Critter4321 replied to growalot's topic in Deer Hunting
I did not even see many young does last season to have a late heat, But you could be right with the health and a higher birth rate. I can say we farm over 1000 acres of hay ground and did not catch a single fawn in the hay machines last year where we usually get 4-8 per year so ya a easy winter late heat and more fawns kind of go hand in hand its going to be a couple years to make up for the last three winters though. -
You just cannot make this sh#t up!!

yup pretty much!!!

I like the finding bigfoot shows they make me laugh walking around the woods at night making noises and stuff I think if they ever fund one it would have to be death blind and lost!

thats as I was thinking because some days I can run a box full of shot kicking brush and running rabbits and never miss a beat next time out every other one jams
-
ya I have tried about every kind I can find to use its the only mossberg I have ever had a issue with I would buy another in a heart beat Its been a great rabbit gun I just never know if its a single shot or a pump though LOL like I said it could be the operator also it just seems to jam the spent shell and the loaded shell in the action I have to push the loaded one back in and the spent on falls out
-
well then enjoy your animals as you should! my comment was not meant to cause harm or concern it was solely meant to be comical
-
I have a mossberg 500 not real happy with the action I use it for rabbit seems to over cycle and jam might just be this one or could be the operator, but it jams up about once out of every 10 shots
-
we are talking about the same animal that lays around the house licks its own hind end and you worry about what to feed it!!
-
ok before this goes to a pi$$ing match let me explain the NYS DOT run by the state police dept has to carry and maintain the equipment needed to check exhaust fumes.and yes I understand your comment about DEC officers being state troopers however you want to slice it feel free! I just said if your so understaffed then perhaps having double departments doing the same job should be changed Believe me I would rather see the DEC out in the field doing checks and trying to keep hunters and fishermen legal!!
-
all I'm saying is if your understaffed let the state police do the checking of exhaust fumes hence they are the ones with the equipment to do so. why have two different departments checking the same thing?
-
I now they are understaffed but should they really be out doing smoke checks on commercial trucks instead of looking for people breaking game laws, if you go into a commercial DOT check like you see on the LIE by exit 49 there in there taking samples of smoke from trucks kinda a over step on their part.

Who's Taking a Youth Out for the Spring Youth Season?
Critter4321 replied to letinmfly's topic in Turkey Hunting
Don't have nobody to go with daughters are too old and grand kids to young but I used to take them out and we had a great time. -
down here in 3m we have not seen much of anything going on unusual any way. Did see 14 in the field across from the barn but theirs plenty for them to eat between round bales and chopped corn in bags there. Sometimes you see 20 -30 in the herd in fall heading to the clover and alfalfa fields we have had 1 storm and the snows is gone temps are up should be a easy winter for them here.

My old dog cannot stand it more then five minutes, the pup on the other hand comes in and wants to go back out after 10 minutes the only problem is she hates to be out by herself so she sets by the front door gives me smiles and dumb looks until I put my coat on and go out with her and play. Damn its cold!!
