I have to confess my stand is heated I built it as most know on a hay wagon chassis and and put it together in the field (to tall to move on the road) its 8'x12' and I take my grand children hunting with me and they love it just cannot get them to stop calling it a tree fort LOL. but yes its heated and most of the time they set in it in only a light sweat shirt. It over looks 400 yd shots although between laughing, playing cards and and other games we have yet to shoot a deer at least when there with me, but we have a great time anyways!! just for the record I have shot many deer from this stand just I have yet to shot one with my grand children there with me but I have the memories and I can shot deer almost any time.

D.E.C. seeking hunter input on the rescinding 2015 of antlerless only
Critter4321 replied to Jmny's topic in Deer Hunting
Tags should be out there for those that can and wish to fill them!! In areas where you get 2 DMP tags and can get 2 more 11/1 then the consignment ya if you bag borrow or plead enough you might get 2 more. There needs to be a system where every hunter gets one DMP tag to start with then can take his filled out carcass tag and get another this would give the DEC the reports they want on how many deer have been taking in real time. I am not saying have no limit there will always be a limit of how many get shot as there is now. But instead of wasting printer ink on tags that others have no means or desire to fill give them to those that can and will fill them. -
I have always had springers since I was old enough to bird hunt and I still have two one for each end of the couch!!! since I have gave up bird hunting I still love the breed my youngest one now is 20 months the wife bought her to keep me young LOL

I use one on my 22-250 love it for shooting the only issues I have is it don't go high enough for sitting if your shooting prone it works great. as far as weight it makes the gun forearm heavy you can add about 2 lbs to your gun
-
looks like he is ready for the deer stand

my condolences to your friend and family just a reminder of why you never go to sleep mad at others and say I love you to the ones you do everyday.

might sound good but nope still not eating liver!!
-
sorry about that just mix 2/3 vinegar to 1/3 water
-
I use a gas type smoker but as I read earlier sometimes getting the heat low enough can be a issue. I have found the ones that have a single burner in the center seem to work the best and I replaced the water pain with a bigger one to help deflect some of the heat

Ok here is the one I use 1 part water (well or non chlorinated works best) to 2 parts vinegar in the vinegar and water add 1 tablespoon muster seed 3-4 chilly peppers 3-4 bay leaves 1 clove of garlic crushed 1 tablespoon dried onion 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon crushed pepper bring all ingredients to a hard boil pour into a glass jar and add your sliced boiled hearts (I cut mine in about 1/4'' thick slices) I use this recipe in a gallon glass jar you might need to split it down to what size jar you have I also start checking them every couple days as they tend to get strong after a while in the pickle juice
-
I always take the hearts there great pickled or fried, The liver I cannot eat its not just deer liver its all liver

I will be the last person to tell another how to do what ever they please. I myself do not cut the pelvis bone or the skin covering it I cut from the rib cage to where the pelvic bone starts. I have no need to dry out any more meat then is necessary by cutting through it and exposing it to air. for the record I have been a butcher for over 25 years not just deer but livestock also and believe me I have seen my share of field dressing jobs that make you say what were they thinking. .
