  1. You do realize a lot of the fracking gas is sold overseas, right? The gas companies sell to the highest bidder like any good businessman. I doubt they give a rats ars about energy independence. That is just a good line to use in the ads.
  2. Another reason I went to the saddle setup. I haul maybe 10#,so I can go anywhere I want.
  3. 20#? I guess you have the aluminum version like a smart person...
  4. someone should, that is a nice saw. I am all set myself with a cheaper jet model. My shop is not great, set up in my basement for home use only. It works ok though.
  5. you got a few more days, you are my pick this week as well. I wasn't gonna say anything to keep the pressure of,but it is thursday....
  6. Couldn't agree more and that is a big reason I got a saddle. The climber I had was a steel model and clocked in at 30# without straps. Last year I wanted to never hunt the same tree twice and didnt, I had a great season.
  7. you got it,shaggy mane. Eat them before they turn inky, first pic is good.
  8. not oysters, they don't have a stem. And Otto it is an icicle mushroom or also known as lions mane, tasty.
  9. 100% the bow. I do gun hunt as well but it a different thing altogether.
  10. I prefer the edges of the rut over the middle anyway. The big bucks in my area do not have to chase anything in prime time because the buck to doe ratio is so skewed. They will just move from hot doe to hot doe. But at the edges they will have to go looking...
  11. Cams are invaluable for figuring out when a certain area gets hot or better said the does go hot. I heard about some University research that figured out that the same does will go into heat at the same time every year. And so will their offspring. So that means their home range is the place to be at a certain time. Bucks are very tuned into this and will be in that area almost to the day every year. I got this from multiple different podcasts and some of those guys runs dozens or even hundreds of cams. And they get bucks showing up in the same three day window every year. That still is not a guarantee that they will kill any of those bucks, but it is amazing intel.
  12. Try some public land,I got into that last year and it is fun figuring out new areas. Not sure what area you are in but there are a ton of options around me and pressure in bow season is very very low.
  13. I stopped using cameras just for the fact that it was a hassle to set them up and check them. I did enjoy seeing what was around, but generally the big bucks would only show once if that. Think about it,there is a lot more the camera doesn't see than what I actually does. I did not have enough cameras or inclination to use them to pattern a deer,so they never helped me harvest one. That is because of my skill and motivation to use them. In the right hands they can be very helpful. I dont miss using them at all though.

  15. This morning was a fun hunt. We had 4 people hunting and all of us saw deer. After being too slow to climb up this morning I was too fast climbing down. Just as I touched the ground a big doe spooked 30 yds from me. Oh well. One of our group shot a doe,and it was just the guy we all wanted to see succeed. He has been bowhunting for over 5 years and has not gotten to harvest anything yet. We climbed down after giving his doe some time and helped tracking. Good blood from the start and the doe didn't even make it 40 yds from hit site. We all celebrated this morning. He was way overdue.
  16. Hunting a friend's property in ag land and it was rough getting in. The hedge rows are thick! Then I got to a wooded area below suspected bedding and it is thick in here too. I was considering setting up on the ground as most trees are pretty skinny. It took me a long time to pick one out that offered some shooting lanes. Well,I ended up being to slow to get up it,a group of does came though heading towards that suspected bedding and busted me before I had my bow up. I should have set up on the ground in the hedgerow and would have had a ten yard shot. That goes to show, trust your gut. I guess I am working out the kinks in early season.
  17. maybe you need to crack a few for them fletch, get em used to it.
  18. Wow,what a nice opening day you had/are having. That is a dandy! How was the bloodtrail with the montecs?
  19. Big buck down!!! In my dreams only. I won't be able to go until tomorrow, but man what a gorgeous opening morning it is. Must be the best weather wise in ages... Good luck to all you guys out today, who will draw first blood?
  20. Cracks me up,now you guys are concerned about the environment? Not when driving your cars though, that is fine. How much fuel is used to get the oil out of the ground and transported?
  21. Who needs a new bow? it is like looking at puppies, don't do it unless you want to bring one home. I went and got the arrows today and they shoot well with the heavier broadheads. I need to sharpen the heads and will be out Saturday. It looks like it will be a great opening morning tomorrow, good luck to all.
  22. I use his shop for everything unless I have to get something matthews specific that he can't get. My next bow very well might be a hoyt ventum 33,then I could get everything there...
