It is and I see them being way worse with the large acorn crop this year and the mild winter.

So I was planning on using some of my grandfather's old duke 110 body grip traps for squirrels. These are like new used only a few times to trap pests in the barn. Anyone give me some tips for trapping them? Unfortunately they are in my garage and unable to shoot them without hurting something in the garage.

Mannnnnn, I was hoping you killed him! I always like the "Guess the score" & "Age this deer" threads with the deer actually dead and know the real numbers.

Those would make a nice set of rattling antlers! haha

So all of you saying you would give him the rack do you do that with people that have trail cam pictures of drops you have found? I would have kept it more because the deer suffered for so long by a badly placed shot. Could have been a number of different reasons why the shot went bad but either way the guy didn't find it. What exactly would entitle someone to a deer I found dead on my property? No one owns the deer to the victor go the spoils. Let me add I wouldn't expect a person to give me a rack because I made a bad shot on a deer. Would I want a picture with it to remind me of the one I screwed up on? Of course, but wouldn't expect someone to give up the rack.

This weekend I'm heading to my hunting property and going to work up a couple spots for food plots.

So when do we find out his actual age?

That is awesome. I like the part "If you find this offensive you're the person I'm talking about"

You and me both. Funny how that works, makes us Americans look dumb. Basically Obama is blaming the public for the attack. -
Yup I pick up brass at the range in the dirt and 1/4 crushed and they seem to come out nicely. I'm not a brass snob and use just about anything I can get (except steel).

We had a little snow at my parents in Newark but didn't stick. I would rather be freezing my butt off ice fishing than sitting here with no ice, and no snow.

That was my thought making up the 147gr. hollow points. I am hoping to have a little more knock down power. I will say I practiced some drawing and shooting drills and I have a little work to do. If you guys get a chance try doing some walking drills like shooting while walking towards the target. It is very difficult and helps hone those skills. There is a lot to think/do while working one of those drills.

Rifle wise probably 20 or more. Pistol probably 50 or more. The more the merrier.

I'm saying that I estimated the yardage wrong because I don't shoot that far on a regular basis and yes got lucky. Same way for the original poster. He might get lucky but if he doesn't shoot that distance then he won't know where the gun hits. This isn't rocket science, it's called common sense.

I ended up shooting about 100 rounds only re-loaded 20 just to see how the gun handles them. I have found Unique to be very clean probably one of cleanest powder I have shot. I use it in my .40 reloads and performs good. Also get it for 16.99/lb

So I just bought a Smith and Wesson sd9ve 9mm and decided to buy a set of dies to start some experimenting. I bought some Hornady 147gr. JHP and paired it with 4 gr. of Unique powder. Wow those things have a little more recoil than the 115gr. I do have to say it grouped both rounds very nice out to 60'. It may be a slow bullet but I'm betting it has some knock down to her.

haha that would have been a horrible auto correct!

I don't shoot that much but I have a nikon BDC scope and have used their spot on app and it is close. I shot a deer at 355 yards (ranged after the shot) My buddy and I figured it was 250. We were off a little and I used the wrong circle on my BDC but still made a great shot and deer died within 15 feet of being shot. Moral of the story, without shooting your gun at the distances you hunt you will have no idea what the gun will do. If the Spot on was 100% correct I should have shot into the dirt just under the deer. Is it ethical to take longer shots without practice? I wouldn't say so but sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

I don't think that is what any of us meant. We suggested to target the gun in for the range he was going to use it. That is just plain common sense. Would you target your gun in for 25 yards and take a 200 yard shot not knowing where your gun would begin to hit? If I hunted with shots at 100 yards but usually shoot everything at 50 I would target it in for 50 and take a shot holding zero at 100 too see where it hits. I can then make an educated that at 75 yards it is dropping half the distance it did at 100. You could verify by shooting the gun at 75 but in my eyes it would be pointless. IF you can make an educated guess and not just hail mary it there than I don't see a problem with that.

The TTSX I believe is also a 100% copper bullet vs being jacketed with lead.

Yeah me too, I don't think anyone in their right mind would shoot at a deer knowing there was someone down range behind it. If they do obviously they shouldn't own a gun. I could have the next state record in front of me, I wouldn't take the shot knowing there was someone the other side of that deer. And yes I am a TROPHY hunter and meat hunter! I know many of you feel a person can't be both. I know I am going to get flamed for this but I think I'm a good enough hunter to do both (hunt trophy deer and meat).
