For Firearms Buffs and Historians

I've never been to the Rockwell myself. I love the Curtiss museum. The first time I was there I think I wandered around for hours. I've been there a few times since , so I've seen all of it at least once or twice. We'll have to get together this summer. Or sooner! -
Barrett 50 cal?

Hey Wolc, get up on the wrong side of the bed? I've re-read Doc's post a couple of times and don't see anywhere he was saying anything that he would have to atone for in front of our maker. A little strong, don't you think? He was stating the difference between gunfire and human scent on deer activity. Holy crap, I hope you don't relegate me to the underworld just because I think Miller Lite is less filling and doesn't taste great!

The deer in my immediate area are starting to switch over already too. Seems to have been pretty cold lately, hope that's a harbinger of warmer weather!

Yeah, from that angle mine looks like it has a bit of a grin. He's happy to see me I guess!

For those nearby, the Glenn Curtiss museum in Hammondsport is featuring "a call to arms", an exhibit of antique firearms from 1770-1945. https://www.glennhcurtissmuseum.org/ -
Got the call from the taxi today that our mounts were ready. My wife and I both shot decent bucks on the regular season opening weekend last year. We decided to get two more for the living room. Fast turnaround! Not the greatest photography but you get the idea.

I have a couple pair of the amplified muffs that I use when target shooting. They're the best. You can talk to each other and be heard, but not get the muzzle blast noise. I find that I take them off less because of the improved low volume performance, which means I don't forget to put them back on again. Kind of bulky though, and they get in the way a little when getting a cheek weld on the stock. I have a steel target at 200 yds that I can't normally hear when hit, but can hear it with the muffs. I've always wanted to try them in a tree stand as I swear you can hear a mouse walk at 20 yards when you have them turned way up.

I have a 400 yd range on my property. I don't use it frequently, but when I do, I can shoot for hours. So do a few of the neighbors. Never had a complaint. But then again, I don't do it late it the day or too early in the day. Target shooting is heard all around the nearby hills on any given weekend. The closest I got to a complaint was when a non-shooting neighbor called after a particularly large container of tannerite went boom (probably should have kept it below 3 lbs - lol). Said she wanted to make sure our house didn't blow up. Then followed with a comment "you sure went though a lot of bullets today" as we were shooting all afternoon. I invited her to join us. She didn't, but we all got together for drinks that evening. All was well.

Well, I haven't been in the market for a handful of years, but had to google LS Tractors - never heard of them until now!

I love my X-bow, but it's also an awkward and clumsy thing to carry around too!

My next birthday will be the big 6-0. I'm already finding there's physical things that I used to do with ease, that aren't so easy at all anymore. I'd hate to think that once I retire in hopefully five-ish years, that I'd only have a few years left before I have to start skipping the month of October. Besides, I love my Parker F-4. I'd like to spend a little more quality time with it! Like 6-7 weeks per year. I've had it for 3 years and haven't killed any more deer per season than I have before X-bows were legal. I'm disappointed in it not making the budget. Typical NY State, making my choices for me.

I've heard of them, but for some reason they were under my radar. Clearly on my radar now!

Looks great Moog - I see you made the risers, but what brand is the platform and blind?

I ate all my popcorn the last few times this subject came up. Prediction; 12 pages?

If it carries a pilot, it's not technically a drone though, right? It's just a different kind of helicopter. Admittedly, I fast forwarded through most of the video.

Gotchya, that makes sense - thanks!

Just curious as I don't think I've seen you comment on the subject, what's the dispute?
