  1. Looking at that form it looks like it would be easy for me to complete. Name, date of birth, and address. None of that other crap is required to get medical care. They don't have different shots for male, female, or whatever. They are just searching for more information which in reality is none of their business and will only be used to for purposes that not are related to anything that makes the world go around.
  2. Exactly how my wife tore her rotator. She found out the hard way the the surgery is not fun at all.
  3. https://empiretrail.ny.gov/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery Statewide Empire State Trail Completed New Yorkers have a new way to explore all their state has to offer with completion of the 750-mile Empire State Trail, a year-round, multi-use recreational trail for cyclists, hikers, runners, cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The trail runs from New York City through the Hudson and Champlain Valleys to Canada, and from Albany to Buffalo along the Erie Canal. Three-quarters of the trail is off-road. Projections call for 8.6 million people to use it each year. Connecting 20 existing regional trails, the Empire State Trail was created by building more than 180 miles of new off-road trail and connecting 400 miles of previously disconnected, off-road trails. There are 45 gateways and trailheads along the trail, which includes signage, interpretive panels, bike racks and benches. Navigating the trail can be done through the trails web site empiretrail.ny.gov, which includes an online map and the ability to print itinerary sheets for specific trail segments. Learn more.
  4. With all lousy weather coming with high winds, possible rain, etc. I strapped on the x-country skis for the first time this year and took a little cruise for about 1 1/2 miles. Tough going cutting trail all the way but definitely a nice day to be out. Didn't see any live critters but lots of deer tracks. Looks like they are foraging pretty hard and working to get something to eat. I really expected to see some canine tracks but not a one. The only other tracks seen were one set of possum and some turkey tracks. Looks like the turkeys are having a tough time of it and are walking single file because they can't walk on top yet without breaking through. They seem to have stablished their own trails and are sticking to them to and from the fields. Great day be out but I couldn't do it like Nomad. When the snow is like this it is either skis or snowshoes for me. Nothing like a sunny day with virgin snow
  5. I don't have the luxury of owning a tractor. My Ariens cleared my driveway and sidewalk in about and hour and with the high out I can put it just about where I want and stack it as high as I want. I used to plow snow with a truck and for me I would rather blow it than plow it. Everyone has their own preference. I looked into a john deere with a blower, belly mower, etc. and the snowblower alone was just under $4000. I could by three Ariens for that price or pay someone else to do it for me.
  6. What I meant was......I would rather blow snow than mow grass. Sorry for the confusion
  7. I would rather blow it than mow it any day of the week
  8. Your right grampy but I decided to take the easy way out and buy them already made
  9. I really didn't have a size in mind just figured the shorter the better to cut the distance between shelves. 5" was the shortest I could find so I figure if they are to long I can cut them down and re-bend. They are stainless but only about 1/8 o.d. so they shouldn't be to bad to bend if I need to
  10. I can't help but wonder if we even have the capability anymore. A lot of the younger people today couldn't tell which end of a hammer to use. Most of them only use nail guns even if it is only to drive a couple of nails. If it wasn't for YouTube a lot of then couldn't wipe their noses. ( I would have liked to said something else)
  11. I paid $11.00 on line for twenty vs $11.00 for 6 through the supply houses. Most of the supply houses only carry 8" and these are 5". I wanted the shorter length to reduce the space between racks so I got the shortest ones I could find. For my application I probably could have used a good stiff paperclip but those are made in china also.
  12. You kept them out a couple more weeks than I could. The day after I pulled mine the snow came in along with the cold and the snow has just kept piling up. You had a pretty good season and it can be a fun way to spend part of the winter. When one continues to look ahead by making method and equipment improvements they can call themselves a trapper.. I look for easier and better ways but they don't always end up as improvements or being more productive. I always "look forward" to next year but don't always make it out. Deer season and weather always seem to get in the way. Sound like you have a new hobby
  13. This is more of a "I gotta vent" but it really bothers me. As a rule I try to buy American whenever I can and have been somewhat acceptive of buying things "made in china", but cringe every time I see it on the label. Today I received some meat hooks I ordered for my smoker and sure enough "made in china". You would think that a simple design like this could easily be manufactured in the US and wouldn't require expensive programming, high skilled labor, and or expensive tooling to fabricate. Something is wrong with the whole thought process when we are forced to buy foreign stuff over things that could be made here. I know they quote labor costs, overhead, material cost, etc. as part of the reason but tell me a simple design like this could not be made right here. I think China has us more over a barrel than most of realize. I hope this doesn't end up in the political section even though it more than likely will.
  14. DEC Accepting Applications for Annual Pheasant Release Program Applications are now available for DEC's cooperative Day-Old Pheasant Chick Program, which allows people to participate in raising and releasing pheasants to enhance fall hunting opportunities. Day-old chicks are available at no cost from the Reynolds Game Farm. Approved applicants will receive the chicks in April, May, or June. No chicks obtained through the Day-Old Pheasant Chick Program can be released on private shooting preserves and all release sites must be approved in advance by DEC and be open for public pheasant hunting opportunities. Applicants are required to provide shelter and daily care to the rapidly growing chicks, monitor the birds' health, and ensure the chicks have adequate feed and water. Individuals interested in the program should contact the nearest DEC regional office for applications and additional information. Applications must be filed with a DEC regional wildlife manager by March 25. A "Pheasant Rearing Guide" and applications are available on DEC's website. For questions about the program or eligibility, email [email protected] or call 607-273-2768.

  17. When one assumes, they are Intellectually superior they get bored and do things like joining a hunting forum hoping to prove to others they are the superior beings and above the rest by bragging about who they swap spit with and how much more intelligent they are than the rest of the herd. Instead of contributing anything they spend their time trying to make others feel inferior and take cheap shots at ones that don't look at things their way or think like them. Their opinion is suppose to be yours and if it isn't you are stupid or worse. Pretty sad way to spend your time, This about sums it up: "The trap in having a superior IQ is you may know you are smarter than others, but you might not be smart enough to realize that you are still mostly stupid."

  19. Cuomo unleashed his upcoming budget proposal asking for 15 Billion in federal aid. If he doesn't get the 15 billion he has promised to increase taxes and cut state aid to schools meaning we can all expect our school taxes to skyrocket along with other taxes: In an unusual move, Cuomo presented two executive budget proposals instead of one. In the first, taxes would be hiked, education cut by billions of dollars, proposed projects delayed and the state would need to borrow heavily, leaving future generations to foot the bill. https://www.timesunion.com/news/article/new-york-2021-state-budget-cuomo-15881507.php
