  1. I replaced a broken craftsman socket adapter at Lowes with no questions asked. I had to wait for the correct one to be stocked and when it was I just took it to the service desk with the broken one and they made the exchange with no paperwork or anything.
  2. Lol ..I only had a short glass of wine last night. I am in 8h and there have been some real nice ones taken in the area over the years and have seen groups of two or three big shooters together in the summer but never a group of this size. As Moog noted I would have thought the groups would be broken up by now and I was totally caught off guard and surprised.
  3. Unfortunately no. I have one at the other end of the field and one in the woods but that will probably change soon.
  4. No but I thought of Dorothy as I turned away.
  5. So I get up this morning and it is 67 degrees with a steady rain. Grab a cup of coffee and look out the patio doors across my field. I have a ladder stand in a hedgerow about 325 yards from the house that I use for "quick" hunts or when I don't feel like using the climber. It is still I a little dark but I can make out a group of deer out near my stand. I grab the binoculars and lo and behold there are 10 bucks all together in a group not 20 yards apart. At least 8 of the 10 are definite shooters and a couple are tall and past their ears. To far away for me to count points or get a picture but what a sight to see. I have never seen ten bucks together in my life let alone 6-8 shooters. I knew we had a few around but never even imagined the possibility of 10 at once. Of course three of them passed within 15 yards of my stand and a couple put on a sparring display before they all disappeared into the woods single file. I am pretty sure they were just passing through but I know it is going to make me feel pretty inadequate if I don't shoot one this year. Not sure what the rich people are doing today but know I feel pretty rich being able to see something like that.
  6. No boot sale...got semi warm, warm, cool, cold, and freezing. I refuse to hunt in flip flops, clogs, or sneakers. My game plan when it is warm is to get caught up on things that need to be done before winter or prepare for future hunts when it is cooler. I hate sweating to death and swatting bugs
  7. One tool that is very effective is a coaches whistle. If it is a actual person calling and not a robo call they get a nice long blast, hang up quick, and seldom call back. Have one near every phone in the house
  8. I wouldn't have hunted today if it was the last day of the season and I had all my tags. 86 degrees here and pretty windy but at least I got something accomplished. Mowed the lawn as low as I could and put the Sawyers on double time. Should be all set if it ever cools down.
  9. With a forecasted high of 86 tomorrow and 30 mph winds I will be sitting tomorrow out. Good luck to those that venture out.
  10. I am in Ontario County and have a measured 100 yard range for use. Not how far you want to shoot but there is capacity for 300+ yards. All you would need is your target(s) and possibly a shooting bench since mine is not very fancy. Could save you a few miles and all you have to do to check conditions is make a call.
  11. Robin Sorry to hear about your health issues and to say never say never. The Adirondacks hold a special place in my heart and wish I could get there more often. I have always viewed your videos as a way to reminisce and could put myself in your seat and enjoy what you were experiencing. They are truly a special place and you have been able to experience them like most will never do. Here's to you and your health and hopes of you being able to return some day. Thanks again for sharing your experiences and hope to one day see some more
  12. I would more than likely let him walk by and thank the gods I had the opportunity to see him. I doubt I could gather my composure enough to take a shot during bow season but gun season would be a different story.
  13. That is my scenario also. Any decent size doe is a good start.
  14. Boots on the ground should be the deciding factor.
  15. Unless you shoot a slob with it....Whatever you do SHOOT before you buy. There are a lot of nice bows out there but if it doesn't feel and shoot right it is money wasted.
  16. All depends on the weather. I won't be hunting if it is to hot and I have to swat bugs
  17. Wonder if it is a Seneca Army depot escapee or a true albino?
  18. Pic 5 is no slouch either. To bad it was foggy when he walked by.

    The market forecast:
  20. A recent article I read from the so called experts on the 2019 rut prediction says the "must be out there days" are: Monday October 28th Sunday November 3rd Friday November 8th Monday November 11th Saturday November 16th (noted as being the "best" day to be out there) Tuesday November 26th Friday December 13th. I won't be hunting by those dates but will try to make note of activity/sightings on those dates and sure wouldn't be planning vacation around them but you asked. Believe it or not
  21. May be seeing a tax break in the future "New York approves 68-turbine Steuben County wind farm" Named the Baron Winds project, the 68-turbine project will be built in the towns of Cohocton, Dansville, Fremont and Wayland. It will connect with the state’s electrical grid through New York State Electric & Gas transmission lines. The project will be built and operated by a subsidiary of the German energy company Innogy. The 492-foot-tall turbines will be spread over private agricultural and recreational land. Payment-in-lieu-taxes agreements provide local governments with payments of approximately $26 million over 20 years. Host towns will also receive payments estimated to be up to approximately $12 million over 20 years under community agreements. https://www.stargazette.com/story/news/local/2019/09/16/steuben-county-wind-installation-aprroved/2344676001/
