  1. Get up early n beat them there. It's not wrong if they hunt the line n don't shoot your side or tresspass. If your there first n they still set up than ethics gets involved
  2. Aren't they the older assault guns? Im not a bp pistol guy but I'm thinking if it says "Navy" on it it's prob a military piece n civilians have no right to own it. Too dangerous. Ask Hillary, she would not approve loaded or not
  3. Like your optimism. Very cool. The smiley face pig tail chick though? I'm still undecided.
  4. Look at the small wildlife management area next to Glenwood. It's almost touching Vernon. Think it's Pochuck. Go up Glenwood Mt rd n access NY through that. The hunters entering Pockuck should do a big drive right to you if things get crowded. If not you're still away from crowds. A bit of walk though

  5. Closer to NJ the better. Anything near the line should have bears. We're over run
  6. Wasn't referring to you n Bones young lady, just answering a dif post
  7. Thermacell works great but not while moving. Shannon's bug tamer suit might fit the bill better
  8. Id always run them in summer too. Look for signs of stress but they do acclimate. Field trials are run in the heat of summer, heat of the day. Dogs that don't run in the heat can't hang. Same for cold, had a friend lose a dog in winter run snowshoes too long, started coughing up blood. It's lungs froze. Not good stuff. But mornings especially in the summer are fine. One point being all the old tracks, easy lines n visible rabbits. Not the best for teaching a dog to hunt not just run paths. ive judged n run dogs thatd been run too much n all they do is run paths. Another consideration
  9. Maybe he was from Friendship NY n hunted out of state. Many have no age limit for hunting as long as parents agree. Could just be that
  10. Who's at it for the first time whatever the bow choice is this year. Getting close to sessin n I'm sure guys n gals are excited, tell us about it n don't be shy asking questions.
  11. I've been at this a while. Started early eighties Bowhunting deer. I have no crazy rituals n rely on no luck. Some days/years just turn out better but the freezer is always full. If I had to pick something it's getting kids ready. I mentor a lot n they get my highest odds sets. All year long I look for game n sign, maybe intensifies just a little come later summer watching acorns grow n corn start being harvested. Make a few arrows, change some strings. All normal stuff but I guess it is prep for the year. Early Sept I start w broadheads. Don't need rituals, we just need to be ready
  12. NY is where I like best but NJ starts earlier early Sept.
  13. This is true but he's gotta respect you n your land. The right aproach is certainly what you're getting at but if he's disrespecting you just to get what he wants Id make him miserable.
  14. No lol. Consideration n respect go all ways. If a guy doesn't respect you game on
  15. Another option is to get a quad ride all over his front lawn. If he can use your property, thsn use his. Retreival rights are good but a well shot deer w a rifle is typically anchored. Shot well w bow they go w fixed blades maybe 100 yards. Stay off his line a little n screw him. Id take no steps back if he can't respect your wishes about what happens to land you bought n pay taxes for. The meek get bullied. If you want to buy land for someone else to hunt, there's plenty of places where I live Id love to hunt for you. sounds stupid right? You didn't buy the land for anyone but yourself. Act like you own it
  16. Get a bunch of plywood n erect a privacy barrier right in front of his stand. It's his problem he has no property. Use onyx hunt maps n see if it's on your land or theirs. If it's yours cut tree down for firewood. The maps aren't free but offer a free 3 day trail so if you're not sure use them n see who's land it's on. Put a trail cam up high n hidden n see if he enters your land to remove plywood than prosecute him
  17. If you just bought a house you made right call. Put a 2 bucks a day away in a cup n you can buy that bow n all accessories next year. Better yet look for a leftover or great newer used bow next year
  18. Very good point, it should be known you can't keep it on forever or you'll wind up infecting skin on neck so it must be done properly
  19. Hmmm bear meat is very fatty, its best cooked on a rack or grill so the excess grease comes off. So many guys don't Iike bear meat because of improper cooking. if it's any kind of chops brush butter n Worcestershire on it as it grills n finish it off w green pepper on top. Another real easy way is accent food seasoning n just grill it. if it's stew meat use it for Shis ka bobs seasoning on of the two ways. One of the best meats there is
  20. Use binoculars n look up at trees to see what's happening. Find white oaks ready to drop in another month
  21. They're def worth targeting., best meat you ever had
  22. Yes I agree, but there are kids more sensitive, especially girls that don't like the noise or kick of bigger guns. They need to be grown into shooting. Women too, we shouldn't punish them. Not if you want them to be into it anyway. How many times have you heard of kids that decided they just don't like shooting? That's nuts, they shoot all day on video games, point like John Wayne at their friends. When you ask them to go n they say no it's oftem because they were put in the fire so to speak. Not the best way, by 14 my older daughter was shooting my 300 mag n loved it. She started out w a 22, 223, bull barreled 22-250 to acclimate to noise, 28 ga, 243, 20 ga, 270, 300 n now at 16 she hunts turks w a 3" 12 all at 5'3". I really wanted my kids to hunt w me n took no chances in screwing that up. The littler one is now 13 n is a little slower coming along but she's up to a 243 n the 20ga. They both love handguns too, it's all in the starting em off right, least w some kids
