  1. To me, a mount without a plaque looks incomplete. Like putting a certificate on the wall without putting it in a frame. LOL!
  2. It is available with the ELD Match bullet and the SST bullet. https://www.hornady.com/ammunition/rifle/6.5-grendel-123-gr-eld-match-black#!/
  3. I buy Prvi Partisan (PPU) brass cased soft points for $9.99 a box. The stuff has better than average velocity and great accuracy. Just meat and potatoes bullet in them, but they do the job every time.
  4. I always say, expect nothing, and you will seldom be disappointed.
  5. When I shot my 300 lb black bear, I had my buddy back the rear wheels of his Tacoma into the slight trench on the side of the road. The tailgate then dropped right to the ground behind the truck and we slid the bear right in with no trouble at all.
  6. Hard to tell from the photo. If the blind will be down wind of the buck when you shoot, it should work well. Ground blinds seem to work best when the deer do not get too close to them. How far away from the blind will the buck be when it offers you a good shot?
  7. I have not used it on deer yet, but since it has the Hornady SST bullet in it, which is a proven deer killing bullet, I see no reason it shouldn't give excellent performance on deer in the field. It sells for twice the price of the soft point PPU ammo I have killed deer with though. The PPU ammo has worked fine so I don't think I will pony up the cash for the Hornady Black ammo unless I were to use the Mini 30 on a once in a lifetime trophy deer hunt somewhere. That's highly unlikely though.
  8. The one filmed in Africa titled, "In the blood". Hard to find anymore. It was hard to find the DVD when I got it a few years ago. Hollywood did it's best to keep it out of the public's eye due to their hatred of hunting. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099838/mediaviewer/rm112892928
  9. I moved up from the Honda CL 450 to a Honda 500 4cyl, then a 3 cyl 2cycle Kawasaki 750 (that was a fast bike), then a 2cyl DOHC Kawasaki 750, then a Kawasaki LTD 1000, then a Honda 1000 CBR, then a HD Superglide, then an HD V-Rod, then a HD Streetglide. I've ridden many other bikes that were owned by friends as well. I'll see what pics I have and post them. Currently not riding a bike as the season is too short in the Catskills, the weather isn't very good for riding and the roads are more conducive to an Enduro, which I'm still considering. Sadly, these days, I have not the time, nor the desire, to work on old bikes. But I always want to buy one that's been properly restored.
  10. Scramblers are good bikes, very versatile. I was riding this one in 73 & 74. I've had quite a few bigger ones since then.
  11. My old recurve made by Colt Manufacturing, is still doing the job. It's quiet and very light. When you use a recurve for years, you find it hits what you shoot at.
  12. I don't buy the NYT's, or any other paper. My neighbor gives it to me for the cage after his wife reads it, to get it out of his house.
  13. Doc, to them your problem is a non-issue. They are only concerned with what affects them. However, they don't see how this problem affecting others will ultimately affect them. But by then, it will be too late, and they will be the one's wondering how this ever happened.
  14. I assume the parrot can read, because he looks at the NYT's articles in the bottom of the cage then takes a dump on them. Can you post a link for it. I don't read the NYT's.
  15. I'd have to ask my parrot if he read it. Was it written by the same folks who wrote the libelous hit piece on Kavanaugh?
  16. Jeff Jacoby: "By unleashing vast quantities of clean-burning natural gas, fracking dramatically changed the economics of electricity production. As natural gas grew more and more affordable, fewer and fewer power plants continued to burn coal. Indeed, more than half of all US coal-fired plants have closed over the past 10 years. According to the Energy Information Administration, 35 percent of America's electricity in 2018 came from natural gas; just 27 percent was from coal. No one would have thought those percentages were possible in 2000, when half of the nation's electricity was generated by coal-fired plants and less than one-sixth came from natural gas. Because natural gas releases only half as much carbon dioxide as coal, the sweeping shift to gas-fueled plants has led to a dramatic reduction in America's greenhouse gas emissions. ... For anyone who worries about climate change and is intent on carbon reduction, all this should be cause for rejoicing. Fracking, which has made it possible, should be extolled as a boon to environmental progress."
  17. A beautiful work of art that can be used to impress others, but what would anyone hunt with it. You don't need a quick 2nd shot at any "dangerous" small game. The targets are usually small, requiring very accurate shots, which open sights don't provide. The barrels will be regulated for a specific round at a specific distance, and the rifle will not wear well under field conditions. If I had 50 grand to blow on something like this, I'd sober up and buy 30 more acres of land to hunt. It's a beauty, no question, but it's made for people with more money than brains. That's why it has never been made before.
  18. Insidious encroachment on liberties is often done in small steps. They are playing the long game, because if done too quickly, it would never be accepted. I have no objection to anyone using non-lead by choice. I do myself sometimes. I object to people forcing their demands on others against their will with big govt oppression, especially when their case for it is based on hyperbole and theory. Remember MTBE in gasoline? How about ethanol in gas? Remember when special interest groups said it would be good for the environment? Remember when they said it would never be required to be a higher % in the mix? Remember when they claimed to have the science to back it up? How's that working out? If all lead is banned for all hunting ammo, due to the laws of supply and demand, as well as the need to replace all your rifle and shotgun ammo for the upcoming season, as well as all ammo manufacturers having to invest in all new machinery for all of their hunting ammo production, hunters will see a big difference in their expenses for the upcoming season. Anyone who thinks that will not happen is not living in reality. For a long time California has been there as factual evidence of big govt heavy handedness for all to see. Yet some people still think what that state does is a non issue that doesn't affect them. None are so blind as those who refuse to see.
  19. No, but apparently claiming they will contaminate ground water, when it has never happened, is a strong selling point for people who support the ban.
  20. They are suggesting people stop having kids. Once again, it's a risk vs benefit option.
  21. Olin Winchester has issued a press release announcing it is recalling two lots of rimfire ammunition. The release reads as follows: "Olin Winchester, LLC is recalling two (2) lots of 17 HMR 20 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Rimfire rifle ammunition. Symbol X17HMR1 Lot Numbers (last four characters): NB51 and NB61 Winchester has determined the above lots of 17 HMR ammunition may contain no powder charges. Ammunition with no powder charges may result in a bullet remaining in the barrel (i.e., a bullet-in-bore obstruction). Firing a subsequent bullet into the bore obstruction could cause firearm damage, rendering the firearm inoperable and subjecting the shooter and bystanders to a risk of serious personal injury. DO NOT USE WINCHESTER® 17 HMR 20 GRAIN JHP SYMBOL X17HMR1 THAT HAS A LOT NUMBER ENDING IN NB51 or NB61. The ammunition Lot Number is stamped on the top of the 1000-round case and the outside of the 50-round plastic box as indicated here. To determine if your ammunition is subject to this notice, review the Symbol and Lot Number. If it is Symbol X17HMR1 and the last four characters of the Lot Number are NB51 or NB61, immediately discontinue use and contact Winchester toll-free at 844-653-8358 for free UPS pick-up of the recalled ammunition. This notice applies only to Symbol X17HMR1 with Lot Numbers ending in NB51 and NB61. Other Symbols or Lot Numbers are not subject to this recall. 22. Put it on gunbroker.com. That's where people looking for such an item are looking for it.
