Unfortunately the SCOTUS ruled the 2nd Amendment refers to an individual right, but it has yet to rule on the limit of infringement a state can impose. That needs to be done in order to shut all these anti-gun totalitarians up.

I've hunted chucks at long range with a bolt action Remington 700 in .223, as well as a .30-06 with 55 grain Accelerators and an old .222 target rifle. But I find sitting at a bench waiting for one to appear has lots of down time and tends to get boring. I like this stalking game. Time goes by faster and the action is more intense. I also find the shooting skill required of the hunter to be more demanding, since you are not shooting from a steady position and need to get much closer. Plus, I'm using a peep sight on the rifle. It adds up to some good memories.

Why didn't you consider a Toyota Tundra?

The phrase "well regulated" during the time the Constitution was written, was meant to imply something running like a well tuned watch mechanism. Any elected hack who thinks rights should be regulated to the point of being licensed privileges, needs to be removed from office for violating their oath of office and being too stupid to represent anyone's freedom.

I can't help but notice we have far more coyotes, owls, raptors and eagles now, but far fewer grouse, rabbit, turkey and even deer in many areas. Call me a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, but I cannot shake the idea this is part of a plan. If natural predators can completely control the populations of game we now hunt, will the states start doing what NJ did and eventually eliminate all hunting? If there is nothing to hunt, or the populations are so low hunting threatens them, it's easy for the totalitarians to say we don't need firearms at all anymore as well. I know it sounds ridiculous today, but the anti-hunting and anti-gun folks are allies. They are in this for the long haul and time is on their side. They also don't care about individual rights, preferring to decide what individuals "need" in their opinion. Maybe if I saw the states doing something to prevent this scenario, I wouldn't be worried. But in many states, especially the "leftist progressive" one's, I see nothing that would improve recreational hunting opportunities and many things that hurt them.

Here in Delaware County, their numbers go up and down in annual cycles. Some years they're all over the place and a few years later they're scarce. I often wonder if the coyote population affects their numbers much. NJ now has a lot of coyote in the areas that used to have good grouse numbers.

Here's a story on it..... https://www.ammoland.com/2019/07/new-jersey-cancels-grouse-hunting-season-for-foreseeable-future/#axzz5uJDP5KtK

I just read NJ has banned all Grouse hunting due to a decline in their numbers in the state. Apparently the state's preference for old growth forests is the cause of the demise. The state doesn't actively manage it's forest lands to better suit it's wildlife. Grouse are best served by areas that have been logged, or are on edges of farmland. Most of the NJ Grouse were in the young forest areas, but those areas have now become too old to support healthy Grouse populations. I've taken many Grouse in that state over the years and find it sad the seasons are now closed. The state doesn't seem to be pursuing any plan to fix this problem either. Banning Grouse hunting isn't going to solve the problem, as Grouse hunters have very little effect on the population anyway. The number of Grouse hunters in NJ has declined to nothing over the years too, as the birds have become few and far between. I love Grouse hunting. This revelation is depressing.

I have soft point and FMJ ammo to use for chucks. I tried the FMJ rounds and found they kill the chuck without tearing it up. Just have to make sure the animal has a backstop behind it to prevent the bullet from traveling any further than the chuck itself. Here on Delaware County farms, there are very few structures to worry about anyway. The FMJ ammo is brass cased, but Berdan primed, so it can't be reloaded. It's not suitable for deer hunting, but it works well on chucks. I've got plenty of it to use too. It's target ammo, and chucks make a good target. I'm really enjoying this walking varmint hunting. It's good exercise, I get plenty of sun and I can travel light. Other than a canteen with water and a Cliff Bar for a snack, I don't need much else to spend a couple hours in the morning or evening hunting them. Thought about taking the binocs along, but I would probably be using them to look at everything else other than chucks. One or two chucks taken per hunt is about par for the course. It really keeps the deer hunting skills sharp, as it takes the same stalking skills to be successful. I wish I had started doing it years ago.

Political correctness is tyranny with manners. -
I haven't really used it for chucks before, but as a chuck stalking piece, it's turning out to be fun rifle. It's light and very accurate with the peep sight. It's dead on at 50 yards, so I'm keeping the shots within that distance. Feels like deer hunting wearing sunblock and a camo T-shirt.
-
It's a challenge, it's different and it works when you stalk one within 50 yards. The custom M1 Carbine needed a kill. It has been awhile since it scored.

Would depend on the condition of the rifle. Put it in the classified section when you decide to sell one of them.

Requiring a license to own a firearm is unconstitutional. Requiring registration of a firearm is unconstitutional. Why are these laws in effect? Because people have allowed the government to usurp their rights with unconstitutional laws. Bernard Goetz was convicted of having an unregistered firearm as well. He was convicted of nothing else. If these men defended themselves with knives and killed these criminals, they wouldn't be charged. But because they used a firearm, they are criminals. Since when does the use of a particular object for defense, determine whether you had a right to defend yourself from being killed? The jury should find him not guilty because the law is unlawful. It's called Jury Nullification. You cannot be found guilty of a crime when you violate an unlawful, unconstitutional law.

David Limbaugh: "Yes, AOC's Four Horsemen of the Apocaleft are more radical, but if left to their own menacing devices, Pelosi and Co. are plenty radical enough to complete Obama's scheme to fundamentally transform the nation. The significant difference between the two groups is that Pelosi's has enough sense and savvy to pretend to be more moderate to make itself more electable. AOC et al. are just too idealistic (though it pains me to associate their toxic views with any sort of idealism) to rein themselves in, even for pragmatic purposes. What we're seeing is simply a turf battle for control of the party. It's about power. Yes, Pelosi is the alpha, but AOC, despite her reliable buffoonery, is a force to be reckoned with, if for no other reason than she represents the future of her insane party. She is the product of decades of cultural indoctrination, and she is but one of millions of young radical leftists eager to accelerate the end of America as founded. Pelosi is fighting back because she has to, but in the end, they will have to make peace, or at least pretend to, going into the election season."

I became a NJ volunteer firefighter when I was 30. I'm 63 now and still do it as a Class A interior firefighter, but now with the department in my NY town. I'm in great shape for my age and like to stay fit so I can do all the things I enjoy doing. Being single, staying in shape helps too. To be a firefighter you have to stay fit. I was also an EMT in NJ and the Captain of the squad for 5 years before they went to career service in the town's EMS. Never saved any lives directly as a firefighter, but saved a couple as an EMT. Delivered a baby on the side of the road once too. I saw a lot of gruesome stuff as a volunteer over the years, but I was used to it, having grown up in a family funeral home and working part time for the county morgue when I was younger. I hate to think I'm cold, but I've learned it's a fact of life and I'm there to assist as much as I can, no matter how bad the victim is. I even help when they are gone and just need to be removed from the scene. I've become fearless of death, and don't even fear my own, but it does make me really appreciate life. I thought about becoming a career firefighter, but I was over 30 at the time, even though I made it into the top 10% in the civil service exams and physical fitness test when I took it. I learned how the commissioners can pass over a man 3rd on the civil service list to hire their buddy's kid in 4th place. Then they reshuffle the deck and jump over you again to hire another friend. Nepotism was a big problem back in the days of many men applying for the half dozen openings. Today I would be concerned about working in a govt position where the state can go bankrupt, stop paying you and void your pension. I'm waiting to see what happens when California goes bankrupt, because I'm certain it's going to happen. NY State recently passed a law covering us for cancer if we get it, as long as we've been a volunteer for awhile and still are when it happens. I've been real good about cleaning my gear and showering after a call over the years and am a big proponent of frequent hand washing. I'm an old firefighter. What I do best now is teach younger firefighters how to become an old firefighter. Sorry for the diatribe, but these things occupy a lot of my mind and it just feels good to let it out every so often.

By filing a lawsuit against their employer, they are no longer negotiating their pay. They are asking BIG GOVERNMENT to force their employer to pay them more. They are suing for more money and they have no case. It's designed to make them look like victims, claim America is sexist, attack Trump for not supporting them and continue with their attacks on everything in America they can make look bad. All part of the "fundamental change" leftists have been salivating over for a decade now. For a women who claims we need more love in America, she is sure a hateful shrew.

Show me any evidence any leftist politician or the leftist media has done anything to support traditional marriage. By promoting everything but, they devalue it. Once again, have they not taken away parental rights and turned them over to the state? Have they not made it very easy for a divorce to occur? Have they passed laws inviting themselves into the family's private affairs with threat of force for non-compliance? They would never be stupid enough to attack traditional marriage in black and white. They use many insidious methods to achieve that goal.
-
Seriously? Do they not promote every type of non-traditional, alternative marriage, while ignoring, or condemning, the positive attributes of the nuclear family that remains intact? Do they not support public education corrupting the values instilled by the parents? Do they not condone removing as many parental rights as possible and giving control of how children must be raised to the government? Do they not ignore the huge cultural problem of black families not headed by a father? Do they not promote the virtues of ANY "family" not headed by a father? Why are they like that? Because the traditional nuclear family is the biggest threat to leftist progressive Marxist ideology and it's desire to control the masses. That's where each generation is taught how to think, what is moral and what is a traditional value that has proven to be worth following for generations. The leftist media is nothing more than the propaganda arm for the Democrat party. If they can get rid of traditional nuclear families and their morals and values, they can take their place as the bastion of all knowledge regarding what is and isn't moral or valuable. That would be a huge amount of mind control. The left wing media has never spoken out about the entire generation of children from K through 12 and college, that has been indoctrinated into leftist ideology so the Democrats can reap the benefits of their votes from now on. From there they will go on to destroy all forms of traditional religion, so they can instill the government in it's place as your God, from whom all "good" things flow. This is not something new. Every Leftist Marxist society that ever existed, has done all of this to the letter.
