  1. Nice buck and an excellent tale. Thanks for the post!
  2. That's awesome!!!! Maybe I'll try the same with my Jack Russell.... if I can get him to stop chasing the squirrels first
  3. We are a feisty bunch!!! AR really seems to be a touchy subject for some.
  4. From sunny yet a bit chilly Florida MERRY CHRISTMAS It might not be as cold as where you all are but 7 years of constant 99 deg and 99% humidity has a way of making 55 feel like 35 Anyway.... I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday. Jason.
  5. dec 26.......I think I'll have to wait till next year. I'd love to get a few nice Geese.
  6. Nice Pic. It does make you realize how much modern marketing has wrapped us all up in having the latest and greatest equipment.
  7. not sure about over/under... but cabelas has a side by side... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Black-Powder/Traditional-Rifles-Shotguns|/pc/104792580/c/104701680/sc/104641380/Cabelas-Kodiak-Express-Double-Rifle/705005.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fshooting-black-powder-traditional-rifles-shotguns%2F_%2FN-1100202%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104641380
  8. I don't think shorting the deer season will help the herd. Maybe reduce the number of tags issued would be a better solution. 1 ... maybe 2 tags max. remove or reduce the nuisance permits that are issued. I think you can get up to 3 tags per season right now. Maybe Stagger the season start and end dates across the zones so they overlap from 1 area to the next. This could keep the season the same length but shorter per zone. That might help the areas that seem to have the lowest numbers.
  9. The pic looks like it was scanned from a print.... Sort of like emailed the printed then scanned back into a pc. There is an odd boarder mark on the bottom edge of the pic. i'm not questioning the pic of the buck in the field but I wonder about the source. If it were photoshopped then the editor took great care it Covering it up... I think it's a great pic none the less.
  10. It baffles me that some people are just so stupid... What's worse is the fact that 80% of them will most likely do it again.
  11. Not sure of the laws in NY... But I've looking at what this site has... http://www.budsgunshop.com
  12. Its Just too easy for people to break the law when there isn't enough enforcement... I feel its easier and less stressful just to follow the rules... Some people think they are better and above the rules. Those people need their ****s nailed to a tree and covered in honey... oh wait... that could be considered baiting ???
  13. ArmComm, That was a very interesting read. And Very informative. Thanks for the view from the opposite side of the road. I agree with you about the Hollywood sensationalists and Wacky environmentalists that go over board to "sell" their Ideas. I'm sure the movie was showing worst cases of negligence that have occurred around the country. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the Gas companies or their advocates defending against the accusations that have been made.. My opinion is still that it shouldn't be allowed because the potential dangers to the environment and the people are to great. From your explanation, ANGA seems like its the type of company that somewhat cares and that would take responsibility if an accident occurred and cleaned up properly... What about the companies that don't care? what about the workers that would sooner go about covering up an accident instead of reporting it? These things do happen. I live on the gulf coast of FL...( I am moving back to NY in March). I don't have the issue of fracking happening around me... but my opinion is made in part from our recent fight for oil drilling off our coast... The Oil companies are banned from drilling off any of Florida's coast. A lot of people here were all for the rigs coming here.. the jobs and the boost to the economy would have been a huge improvement to our area. The oil companies touted The safety systems that they use to shut off a well in an emergency being state of the art. They potentially eliminate the possibility major spills. The oil companies were pushing so hard at the state that they were all but given the green light to start drilling.... until the spill in Feb.... where human error and negligence (i know this hasn't been %100 proven yet) lead to a spill has killed off dozens of reefs... countless numbers of fish, birds and manatees (which were just taken off the endangered species list in 2008 or 2009). Hundreds of miles of coastal habitat was destroyed along the northern coast line and the northern gulf fishing grounds will most likely never produce they way they did before the spill. The spill is still not completely cleaned up. It probably will never be full cleaned up. Fl Government pulled the plug on drilling idea. Drilling has been occurring along Tx, La, Ms for a long time. In TX, If you walk along the beaches in some areas, you have to watch were you walk to avoid tar balls that wash up... I've seen Drums and other trash from the rigs on the TX beaches as well.. The sand is very dirty (stained) and the water is murky sometimes smells funny.. most of, if not all from the oil rigs. My point of this is..... The potential for irreversible environmental damage, no matter how small of a chance there is of it occurring, is not worth the price we would pay. Murphys law says that if it can happen it will happen... Just because it has not happened yet doesn't mean it will not, each new well that is setup increases the potential of a major disaster occurring.
  14. A mil would be hard to pass up.. but I dont think the drilling company is going to offer that. honestly, any amount would be especially hard to pass up to those that are on hard times.. Most of us would do anything to make the bill collectors stop calling. There was a movie called GasLand that I seen on this recently about the problems that fracking causes.. the sites and scenes that they showed (even clean sites) were disturbing. here is a news article that I just bumped into http://www.postindependent.com/article/20101209/VALLEYNEWS/101209884/1083&ParentProfile=1074
  15. I'm far from an expert on the subject. I can only base my opinion on the documentaries and pubs that I have seen. IMO The practice should be outlawed! Its too destructive to the environment. The amount of Toxic waste it generates isn't worth it. People that sell/ lease their land to these companies are money blinded fools...
  16. Thanks Rob, I'll take you up on the offer when we get settled. I honestly would have loved to be up before X-mass but it wasn't in the cards.... I'm Originally from Buffalo. I know a little bit of the area around Dewey ave / English Rd but the area is essentially a is a mystery.. I haven't fished freshwater in 8 years.. ( bass are small here and don't fight much and there aren't any walleye or salmon!) Hey Phade, I'm in Palm Harbor and spend a lot of time in Dunedin on the Causeway mostly. I Love this area but it Family and circumstance is bringing me back... Not as soon as i want but none the less The ball is rolling!
  17. Thanks Str8shooter. Were not there yet.. our target for the move is the last week of march. not going to be fun moving in the winter. tonight our weather here Clearwater isn't much diffirent from there... its right around 32 right now... I know its not as cold as the sub zero there but when your use to 90+ and 99% humidity for 10 months of the year....... its just pure miserable. :'( when the temp drops this low!
  18. I could just shoot an animal and leave it... its just unethical. I don't think I could keep a trophy kill either. I wouldn't mind a couple of nice fur blankets though
  19. I'm Gonna sound real naive here.... What can you do with coyotes anyway???? just fur and trophies?? Keep in mind here that I am new to hunting in general..... I've never hunted in my life (My dad and grandfathers were fisherman....)
  20. The best 1 liner that I ever heard!!!!! Thanks Ron White!!!!!!
