  1. My 209 Breech Plug came with the tool.
  2. There are some guys that don't clean the BH 209 for the entire season. Something about conditioning the barrel. I did a basic cleaning after sighting in with wet and dry patches, and reamed out the plug. I will do a more thorough clean after ML season.
  3. I bought this kit: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1002215191 This range rod: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1002217980 This grease stick: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1002223865 This plug cleaning kit: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1016354010?pid=279815 This starter: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1002216658 These measuring tubes: https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/blackhorn-209-powder-charge-tubes-per-6 These bullets: https://www.prbullet.com/pts.htm If you can find BH 209 powder in a nearby Bass Pro shop they will match online prices so you'll save $15 on ten ounces. Buy two.
  4. Maybe it’s me and my naive faith in my fellow man, but I’d like to think that someone with no experience isn’t going to just show up in the woods and start blasting away.
  5. FWIW, many people say that the Optima is as good as the Acurra and that the stock scope gets useless. I think @Chef bought an Optima with that scope and replaced it straight off.
  6. Thanks. If I leave it, I may zip tie some branches in. And I have been practicing seated shooting, and every possible foot and body position I can come up with.
  7. Good advice. I set mine up facing the front so I have the shoot with my body forward. Live and learn. If I move it, I will put it perpendicular to my shooting lane.
  8. I picked up two 10oz BH209 containers recently. One was $35 at Bass Pro the other $50 at a small local shop. It's pretty hard to find. I believe they were just sold so that may change.
  9. How do you move around to shoot? I'm using a 54" recurve and can't use the safety bar across the front without hitting it.
  10. I moved a ladder stand in the summer to a corner of a deer travel crossroads from bedding to food. In retrospect, I think I'm too exposed as I probably set up to favour my limited range and I'm right on one of the lines of travel. I'm a pretty big matzo ball just sitting there. I could move it to a more covered tree but that would limit my options as I won't be able to reach the one travel path. Or I could brush it in. Does anyone cover their stands?
  11. Walked in a few hours ago to find two does eating under my ladder stand. They busted my leaf crunching from 30 yards. Now bored and cold.
  12. Give it a year or so. Wait until these new people get a sense of what a real winter is like in a 100-year-old falling apart farmhouse. And that every decent contractor is now booked three years out. I think there may be some good sales coming down the pike.
  13. Always nice to hear about retailers who go above and beyond. They have a left-hand shooting bow tech? Equal rights for lefties!
  14. Might as well put this in here. I have a DMP for 4F and while I know the area well as I am in Bloomville, I don't know the public hunting opportunities at all. Any advice? Probably looking for ML season.
  15. Don't give me contrary info! This is the first time I've seen a large group in five years so I'm leaving them alone for now.
  16. Can be great, depending on watershed. Trout typically eat subsurface in the fall, so nymphs and wet flies. In the Catskills, the browns are moving and spawning though it's considered bad form to target spawning fish. Here's a quick breakdown on what's happening: https://detteflies.com/pages/daily-fishing-report
  17. Thanks, phade. Exactly the info I was looking for. I'll wait until one of the younger ones is alone.
  18. Can someone school me on family group disruption? There's a group of seven does and older fawns that are coming into my "backyard" every day. This is the largest group I've ever seen here and I can sit on my back porch and the young ones will come into 20 yard range. I was going to shoot my ML yesterday and had to shoo them away from the target. Of course, my wife has named them. The oldest doe will pick me up and stare me down. What happens if she's taken out? The middle ones? The smallest are a little too small to shoot.
  19. Can't help with a recommendation but admire the confidence.
  20. He is incapable of denying anyone who may be a supporter, but when put against the wall he defaults to the courtroom dodge of ... "I don't recall" or in this case, "never heard of him." Tapper, Feb. 28: I want to ask you about the Anti-Defamation League, which this week called on you to publicly condemn unequivocally the racism of former KKK grand wizard David Duke, who recently said that voting against you at this point would be treason to your heritage. Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don’t want his vote or that of other white supremacists in this election? Trump: Well, just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke. OK? I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So, I don’t know. Today: Trump: "I don't know who the Proud Boys are. You'll have to give me a definition because I really don't know who they are.
