  1. Man , I guess I owe you an apology ! I learned more about turkey hens today than in the last 20 years or so of turkey hunting. Just when you think you know it all about something , you find out that you don't. That's why I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. Thanks for all your reply's/posts .
  2. Congrats with your first bow killed turkey............no easy feat . I've never seen the blondish tip at the end of the beard as you described.
  3. Come on............enough's enough.
  4. Thanks.......maybe that's one reason why I never got one.
  5. I'm in awe..........what else can I say ?
  6. WOW.............That's pretty impressive WNY Bowhunter . Do you think multiple beards are hereditary or just appear in various parts of the state . Thanks for sharing those photos.
  7. Damn that's strange....never knew this about hens before. Don't tell me you saw her strutting !!!!!!!!
  8. Way to go.....especially staying out so late in the morning !
  9. What beard are you talking about ? Yours or the turkeys ? Lol...thanks
  10. Now you know why I asked if anyone was lucky ! In a treestand yet and no clue of what you were doing ? If you don't mind me asking.....what kind of mount did you have done ? Strutting , roosted , standing... etc ?
  11. Man that's awesome. First bird you ever shoot has a double beard...and impressive beards to boot !!!
  12. I was wondering if anyone was lucky enough to have shot a gobbler that had more than one beard. I haven't been fortunate yet but hoping someday I will.
  13. I was just wondering if the bearded hen you shot had any spurs ?
  14. With the risk of sounding ignorant , is that a photo of a banded turkey released by the DEC at one point. That's pretty cool.
  15. I know what you mean. Throw in striper fishing and yard work in the mix.
  16. Thanks for the explanations. You guys were exactly right concerning the different color breast feathers.I didn't even notice them in the photo. I didn't realize a hens head could flush colors when excited...thanks for the info. Learn something new every day !
  17. Are you sure that's a hen in the photo ? I only ask because the bearded hen I saw didn't have the red, white and blue head.
  18. By the way , how do play golf and baseball with a " severely separated shoulder " ?
  19. If physical therapy doesn't help , I would suggest surgery. I had a dislocated shoulder when I was playing football and had a stainless steel pin inserted to stop it from " popping out ". Eventually , I needed another surgery after ripping a tendon in my shoulder. Even though I'm capable of using a compound bow , do you think I would qualify using a crossbow in Connecticut during archery season ?
  20. You don't know what your missing. You can always golf or play baseball after 12 noon.
  21. I've seen them at Five Point Correctional Facility ( from the outside ) .
  22. Maybe try some super soft purring ? If you hear hens, how about imitating the calls the hens are making ? If you piss off the boss hen , sometimes she will come to your call followed by a gobbler. Very frustrating to say the least.
