  1. The Ameristep blind on the edge of the field sounds like a good strategy. If your lucky enough to know where the turkeys enter and exit the field , all the better. The reason turkeys like to come out into the fields when it's raining is because their hearing is diminished and therefor rely on their eyesight even more. I would also suggest some decoys. Best of luck .
  2. I've seen patients outside the Westchester Medical Center smoking. They actually wheeled their IV machines outside to have a cigarette while wearing the hospital gowns and robes. I was floored by the fact that the hospital allowed this . Maybe it has change as I had witnessed this about 10 years ago.
  3. When I started ,they were .50 cents a pack and when I finally quit , they were $10.00 a pack. Besides spending a small fortune , having COPD and having quit for almost 3 years...I would still love to have one. Especially when I smell someone smoking.
  4. Never believed it to be necessary , as most shots I've taken were under 30 yards. However , I would recommend fiber optic sights as opposed to a single bead.
  5. No need to apologize for creating a very entertaining post.
  6. Although the power company's usually post their right of ways , it is hardly enforced. I believe they post their property in case of law suits. I have seen joggers , dog walkers , motorcycle/atv riders , paint ball enthusiasts all using the power lines and to the best of my knowledge , no one was ever ticketed or questioned.
  7. It might be a wee bit small for a rug. Shame it died so young.
  8. Yeah , I noted that. I was just defending the S.O.B. I wonder if the fox stole every egg one by one as it obviously knew where the nest was.
  9. Congrats.....You'll have a story to tell your niece/nephew.
  10. Excellent photo as usual.
  11. Pound for pound , their one of the most viscous critters out there .
  12. The Dallas Cowboys once held the title " America's Most Wanted Team ".
  13. That sounds familiar. I wouldn't complain too much if they cancelled part of a season or better yet , reduce the bag limit until the biologists can figure it out.
  14. So true...... I'm already looking forward to next season and this one isn't even done yet. I've shot one of my biggest gobblers on the last day of the month , so it can be done. Maybe I just need to catch up on my sleep.
  15. It's getting to the point in the season were my enthusiasm is waning. The vegetation has peaked ,the weather is getting hotter, the birds aren't gobbling nor responding to calls and I'm tired of getting up at 3am . Kudos to all those who still have the drive and passion.
  16. Your in for a treat Rick44.....There's a lot of knowledgeable hunters on this site.
  17. Unfortunately, I cannot help you . As Phil Robertson once said..............."I'm a low tech man in a high tech world "
  18. I was fortunate to trap one last year (my first) in a leaning pole set. Then I had to take it to the DEC office in New Paltz to have the pelt sealed before taking it to the taxidermist.
  19. I would imagine the 3 members of ZZ-Top get royalty payments for the opening song "Sharp Dressed Man".
