My problem is that I get antsy after 2-3 hours so if the action is going to be after 10 then I should get in the stand at 8ish? Or should I just stop being a wuss and sit my butt down the whole time?

What! The .308 gets no love? Honestly, I prefer the 30-06 but the gun I wanted was chambered for .308 and under 200 yards, they are basically the same caliber.

I know. Again, if I was driving down the road and saw someone doing that, I wouldn't call the cops. I'll be thinking "Man...why didn't I think of that?"

Sorry if I bought up an old discussion. The last thread was filled with a lot of junk so I skimmed through most of it. Me personally, I find shooting a firearm much easier.

My girl came up with the crazy idea of rather exchanging gift this year we should just buy stuff for the apartment. The problem with this idea is that my wish list is filled with nothing but hunting toys. We don't need no new stinking door knobs or curtains!

Hunting with a bow takes a lot of discipline and skill then hunting with a gun. Due to that fact, I think there are a lot of people who aren't true dedicated hunters using guns while there would only be a few if any using the bow. So while a lot of factors can cause an arrow to miss much more so that than a bullet, there's also a lot more idiots walking around with guns than bows.

.308 sighted last weekend. The .223 can use some adjusting but that can wait.

Just doesn't make sense to me. Isn't this animal cruelty? This took Michael Vick down, you telling me it can't give a couple of jacka$$es a fine? That sucks. At the very least if you don't consider animals having rights it should be destruction of private property.

Thanks...after reading your responses, the wheels in my head are turning. Best thing for him is to probably buy a crossbow block target, take it up in the woods and just shoot. Unfortunately, I don't think he can discharge a crossbow in Central Park. He'll have to go to one of the state hunting lands.

Unfortunately his backyard is filled with cars and pedestrians.

Know someone who just got a crossbow over the summer and asked if there was any place near NYC that he can go to to sight in his crossbow. Any suggestions?

It's not the coyotes or bears that scare me. I stayed in the woods a little later than I anticipated so I didn't bring a flashlight. It got pitch dark on way out. I stepped into what looked like a dark spot but turned out to be a hole couple of feet deep. I fell and hit my face against a rock. Luckily, since my leg was caught in the hole, it braced the impact and I didn't knock myself out, lose any teeth or anything worst other than a bruise and a scratch. Lucky again that my ankle wasn't broken. Now I always pack a flashlight even if I'm going during the day.
