Been slacking off on the journal, so ill try to catch up. Was up at the cabin again for the last bow weekend. As usual there were deer seen by both of us but nothing to come in range. I will be moving stands a little bit as I am now getting familiar with travel patterns and routs here. Regular season opener. At the cabin again. Out of four of us, only one deer's ass was seen the entire weekend. There was shooting untill 9:15 but all that was on the next hill. Toughest opening weekend I have ever seen. Better luck next time. Finish off this work week then I am off for a week.

I dont know how I missed this post, but congrats to you Andy. The best thing is that your kids are so involved with you. I am the only hunter in my family so I do not have the memories that your boy has with hunting and the outdoors as being a youngster. We are making it a point to give this gift to my grandson Tyler.. Myself, My son in law and My son in laws father, collectively. He just turned a year old so there's some wait time but we are going to bring him in to the sport as a family and build some awesome memories. Kudos

Happy belated Birthday!

No scrapes did I find all weekend but there are a lot of rubs popping up. I saw a lot of deer and 3 were big bucks. Problem is that nothing is coming in range. My son in law shot at a big 8 Saturday morning at 30 yds and watched the arrow veer off because of a twig hit. I coudnt get anything in close enough. The 3 big bucks I saw were all dogging does and they had their agenda... Ill update my journal when I get a chance

I had the stainless CVA Wolf in my hands last night while at Cabelas.. I almost bought it too. I think I will be back early next week and get it. What bullet and charge are you using? I do not expect to shoot past 100 yds It was love at first sight. Its nice and light too

11-5 I tried a different area tonight... a ton of rubs and I watched a nice buck cruise, nose to the ground. Its starting up around here. This weekend is gonna pop! One note... the wind was totally wrong getting in this place so I had to do a lot of walking to get to my spot.

I know how you must feel right now. My first bow kill i just wasn't sure how good of a hit it was even though there were bubbles on the arrow. I backed out and came back the following morning. No sleep, needless to say. Easy recovery and a double lung shot to boot. I really didn't want to push that deer across property lines so I waited. Congrats on an awesome buck!
