  1. Hard to say for me... I am leaning toward taking a doe right off the bat, just to get one in the freezer, then the meat pressure is off. You never know though, If I see a nice buck and I have a tag, it is going down. Whats a nice buck to me? Ill know it when I see it. Two years ago (or maybe 3) I kept having this 6 pointer walking around behind my stand... always grunting him out it seems... I think I passed on him three different times... it was the second week of bow at the time and I figured it was pretty early in the season and I have a good chance of seeing more bucks. Glad I did because the last time I passed on him, 20 minutes later an 8 point came out of the bedding after grunting him out and I took that one. I guess I'll know it when I see it!
  2. Congrats on the weight loss and the new bow, Moog. Im shooting a PSE stinger x and although it is a lower end bow, I really do like it. Im curious as to how you like yours.. I will be upgrading after this season....
  3. So, here's what I've done since posting last. I did select the arrows that I will hunt with this year. I stayed with CE mayhem hunter 250's. I was shooting 350's but felt they were a little bit too heavy. The 250's have been passing through my cube target on occasion. I like them. I tampered with my draw length. I went from 31.5 to 30, then to 29.5. 29.5 feels pretty good to me but most of my shots are right, not all, but most. I added a nock ring, lightly crimping it on so I could move it as needed. I felt another anchor point will only help. Found the right spot and crimped it down. The nock point rests at the corner of my mouth. Through experimentation, I had to change my anchor point where the string rests on my nose. Things are getting more consistent now. Resighted it in last evening only needing to correct for left and right. Elevation never changed. Shot 2 groups of 3 at lunchtime today. Both groups I was getting fatigued by the third shot as I did not rest in between shots. The first two arrows of both groups were nearly touching at 20 yds. Tonight at the Academy, Ill shoot out to 30 yds and make sure that is going well.
  4. Chefhunter, I am working on the situation diligently and have made great progress. Today I am getting new arrows. I have been shooting what arrows I have laying around, three different models to be exact. This fact is not helping me at all. I will be in the woods because Ill have this sorted out completely. You are the first in this thread that did not offer a suggestion, so why would you say anything at all if you cant help? I'll take the high road and thank you for your concern.
  5. That really sucks, Taco. I hurt for ya
  6. Football Sunday... Chicken stew with dumplings and deep fried okra for halftime. Never had the okra before but it was very good!
  7. I am all out of likes but I like the fact that you did not have a real pita problem!
  8. I set it to 29.5 and took a bunch of shots. It feels much better and I seem to be more stable at full draw. It was windy as heck out there and I could feel the wind pushing the bow to the right so I waited to shoot between the major gusts and this is what I did... Notice I am shooting two different arrows and aiming at the center bull. Not going to re-sight until it is calm out. Its a much better group than what I have been having.
  9. Im dying to try this... I will let you know the results
  10. I got 30 with the wingspan method and 30.5 with the Dudley method. I get to my shooting place after work and try to make the adjustment and low and behold, I need torx not allens, so I was unable to adjust the bow. I'll try this at lunch today. I am going to take it from 30.5 inches to 30 and see what happens. I did not know that it is better shorter than longer... this could be the ticket Thanks for all the arrow advise. I will be making a decision shortly as to what I am going to buy.
  11. I do not think there is any public land in 9F.. correct me if I am wrong.. 8G is nearby and has some opportunities. I'll be hunting 8G after work some days this year as I can get there quickly from work
  12. awesome as usual, Matt. Never get tired of seeing your work!
  13. If the gas cap is tight and the knock sensor is good, better trade this one in! lol
