OCT 11th Left work at 3:00 PM and headed out to state land just outside Attica. I was planning on hunting a bean field but someone else had the same idea also. I chose to go just inside the woodline at the corner of a hayfield .. runs all through this funnel area. I saw one doe hauling butt, I'm guessing the wind spooked her. Temp was 63 with 10 to 20 MPH winds out of the west.

Can't keep the good news in so here it goes! I am going to be a grandpa again today! This will be # 5 grandchild and its a boy! I will follow up with some pics... Inducing labor right now!!!!!! He has plenty of camo baby clothes and blankets for his trip home!

Went to Chili's last night... Don't usually care for the "chain" restaurants, but this wasn't too bad. Sirloin Steak for her and I had spicy shrimp tacos.

I will admit, I notice they are louder than the cabella's brand. Since I just purchased three more Cabella's, I am using these up first.

Jay, I got my Montecs shooting perfect... The cabellas brand shoot the exact same also. I found that the cable guide set screw was loose on my bow allowing the fletchings to contact the string sometimes... ill show you next time I see you..I am probably calling the part the wrong name.

You smoked him!! I had the same thing happen to me in 2016... I was not positive of my shot and it was nearing dark. I waited 30 min in the stand, then went to my arrow. Pass through shot with air bubbles in the blood. It was all I could do to leave and start looking in the morning. I found him right away at first light next day about 80 yards hidden under a thick bush, dead from a double lung shot. Didnt sleep much that night either!

Found both of ours on Craigslist.. the first one was in Yorkshire. We ditched that one after 3 years because most of the land was crops. That was 80 acres... the one we have now is all wooded, 120 acres but its 70 miles from my home in Alden. I do not really mind the drive and we had a good year last year. This lease backs up onto state land also, so if you like walking you can walk all day long.

OCT 5th Hunted the lease in Mansfield this morning. Saw a large buck with a very small rack. He did not get in close enough to even think about shooting... I would have taken him for the freezer. My guess is he was 3.5 YO. Was in the stand and 20 yds to my left could hear something milling around... I then see a does head sticking out from some leaved out thick stuff. I looked down very briefly to clip on the release then looked back and she was gone. I could hear her milling around still and over the coarse of 40 minutes or so, she worked her way around to the back of the stand. My guess is she winded me and I never got another look at her. Temp was in the upper 40's with 7-9mph wind out of the ENE. OCT 7th Visited the same stand for the morning hunt. Saw nothing, not even a chipmonk. Temp was 68 and winds were 0 . Very quiet morning.

Im all set... had my arrows cut down yesterday then fired off some broadheads... right on the money! A lot of problems with my shooting this year but getting it all figured out is a great feeling! Special thanks to Tacks for his insight... definitely got me on the right track
