There are a slew of reasons not to delete them. The first being that they are not violating any of the forum rules. The second being that there are probably ALOT of people that actually learn lessons from them. Lots of good advice and tips for tracking, etc are brought out in most of them. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Not too bad in my neck of the woods, but I wont worry about it too much until mid week. It will change 3 or 4 times before then anyhow.

WNYBuckHunter's Outdoor Journal
WNYBuckHunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Member Hunting Journals
So this past weekend wrapped up my bow season for this year. Even though I didnt end up bagging my target buck, Id say it was a successful season. No great mishaps, and theres some meat in the freezer. Saturday started out great, with a giant buck that I have never seen on trail cams making an appearance right around 7am. He was with 4 does, and his attention was focused on them. He ended up 20 yards from me, but not in a shooting lane. I have debated trimming a lane for the exact spot he was standing in, but have left the branches there for cover in the early part of the season when leaves are still on the trees. This was the second time those branches have cost me a good buck, so the debate in my mind is over, they will be cut before next season. In any case, before he got into a shooting lane, I got busted by one of the does that had moved directly downwind of me. She gave a quick snort and took off, he stood there and watched her, then followed. I tried to grunt him back in, but he wasnt interested. That afternoon, I ended up at the other farm in a stand that I have had sightings in every sit. I ended up with a bunch of does coming in, one in particular that I wanted to take. She was in almost every lane, and I drw on her 3 different times, but I just didnt have a clean enough shot, so she walked. After that I had a young 8 point stroll by at 5 or 6 yards. Sunday morning found me back in the same stand as Saturday, hoping for a repeat appearance by the buck. No such luck, only spotted a buck chasing a doe in and out of the corn about 100 yards out. After the morning sit, I joined up with a buddy and we decided to button up a few stands and move another. We headed over to the other farm and started by moving a stand that we just didnt feel was in a great place. We wanted a set that overlooked two of the food plots and would give us gun shots into both of them. The range is less than 200 yards to the end of both plots. Perfect for my muzzleloader. Heres the view straight out of the stand... After that I took a few pics of the radish/brassicas in the one plot. The radishes are delicious and the deer have been eating them like crazy. Theres a bunch of bare spots where they have been digging them up. After we finished up there, we headed back to the farm and got the other few stands buttoned up for gun season. I decided to go have one more sit, despite the ridiculous winds. I got to the stand and sat for about 1/2 hour, at times having to hold on to the tree so I didnt get blown out of the stand. I decided it might be better to get down, so I did, and stood in the middle of some trees and brush nearby. I ended up having a bunch of does go through about 30 yards out, but there was too much brush for a shot. Next I had a button buck come up a trail 10 yards away and pass by without noticing me. About 10 mins later, a 2 1/2 year old 8 point went down the very same trail, in the opposite direction. I had 4 chances where I could have taken him at ranges from 10 to 30 yards, but he just didnt meet my standards for this year so I let him walk. I headed back to the truck, happy with my bow season, and looking forward to gun season and the chance to get a bit of revenge on all of those deer that stayed just out of range, or in areas just out of my bow shooting lanes. -
New laser pointing broad head from Spot-On . . .
WNYBuckHunter replied to Deerthug's topic in Bow Hunting
Stupid gimmick. What are you gonna do? Have 1 broad head for every distance you could shoot? Nope, wouldnt be legal here. Might as well add the string tracking thingy on there and watch for deer with your Deer-View Mirror... -
Sorry to be a drama-killer lol

Exactly what I was gonna say.

Its not a purse, its a satchel. Indiana Jones has one....

There are plenty of reasons for that and bait and dogs are not on the list. Right here is the bigggest reason why hunting out west is a bit easier than in NY

Come on Doe, you know you want to lol

I have a couple of pics. I like to have a little fun with mine. Some guys take this stuff way too seriously...

I just got home. I ended up getting down out of the tree because the winds were so bad. It turned out to be a good thing I had five does a button buck and a small eight pointer all within 10 yards of me. I could've shot the buck and the button buck but the does never got into a lane. It was fun even if I didn't get anything.

I'm not sure how I'll hold a steady pin on a deer lol.

Winds are getting bad here. Gonna go move a stand and work on 2 more. I'll go back in for the last hour and a half. Only saw one buck pushing a doe this morning a ways off.

Back in the same stand I was in yesterday when the big 10 came in. Hoping he makes another appearance.

Just got up and flipped on the weather radio. Looks like i can get a few hours in before the crap gets us. The wind advisory starts at 10am. 30+ mph with 45mph gusts. I wont be in a tree in that...

Just had this young 8 at 5 or 6 yards

Big doe and 2 fawns just came in. Drew on the doe 3 times. Twice at 10 and once at 30. Couldn't get good shot. They are over in the food plot eating radishes now.

Had a giant 10 point that I've never seen on camera before come in with four does. He stood at 20 yards quartering to but not in a shooting lane. One of the does got up wind of me and blew and all five deer took off.

Who, besides me, noticed how small her hands are????

Off to the new reloading section with this one....

What I was trying to allude to was that if hunting wasnt necessary for population control, etc, there would have been no talk of hunters needing any guns. Thats why I dont see it as relevant to the discussion. Sorry I got a little off tangent.
-
Not in my experience. Most non-hunters I know realize why deer and other animals need to be hunted. They could care less about anyones "primal urge" to hunt. The anti-gun stuff has nothing to do with the subject, and there was no "off limits" to the anti-gun side. Plenty of the guns included in the SAFE act bans are of the hunting variety. Semi auto shotguns/rifles with thumb-hole stocks, just for an example.

I agree. I was just saying. Ill admit to taking a few head shots in the past. I never made a bad head shot, maybe I was lucky, maybe I was just good. Havent taken one in a looooong time.
