Im another IT nerd around here You could think wireless bridges, you can cover more distance with them than repeaters, especially if you can get line of sight between them. Problem youll run into is powering them. Ive never heard of a solar powered one. You could also do it with fiber, but then your prices are going way up, and youll still need power. Youd be better off just getting a couple of cellular cams.

Thanks Moog!

Thanks bud!

Happy birthday guys.

Oh please. If you cant put it all together, youre either blind or just being a dope for the sake of being a dope. BTW, for the 800th time, I come to this site to use it just like everyone else. Just because Im a mod, doesnt mean I cant bust chops like the rest of the members. My chops get busted plenty around here as well.

So my Summit broke.... wear a harness people

Awesome! They are a top notch company, thats for sure! -
Yes they will. A couple of weeks ago, I was out scouting with another guy. We had to walk past a cow pasture to get where we were going. We bumped 6 does that were bedded within 20 feet of a group of cows.

Glad to hear you are ok. Just curious, did one of the straps break? Do you guys loosen the stand straps at the end of the season and replace the straps every couple of years? I have had the straps break on me before because they were left tight, and the tree basically over tightened them as it grew and pushed out on the strap.

The way I look at it is this. Its simple to me, if its legal, and thats the way you want to do it, more power to you. Ill hunt my way, you hunt yours. Ill shoot what I want, you shoot what you want. I wont put anyone down for hunting legally, even if its not the way I would do it.

I dont know what the heck youre doing when you drink beer, but mine never has hair or berries in it. Must be a Pennsylvania thing...

You are allowed to bait coyote and fox with carcasses, so I do not believe there are any regs about leaving bones, etc anywhere. I do think you need to keep evidence of sex when transporting to a processor, or home. Might not be a bad question to email DEC directly with though.

Other than the fact the kid was baiting in NY, all I see is a young guy's attempt at a hunting video. Sure, he could do some things differently to improve it, but it wasnt completely horrible. As far as the baiting thing goes, he should be ticketed. That way he might learn his lesson and not do it again.

Oh Im not arguing with ya, just discussing it. Like I said, the most important part is you werent hurt. -
Wildcats, It would definitely help you to attend our QDMA branch educational seminar in February. The subject matter is up your alley. http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/17589-save-the-date-feb-22-2014-winter-seminar-and-ne-reg-qdma-summit-rochester-ny/ Not too bad of a drive for you, as its located right off the thruway at the 390 Exit.

It is pushing it if you arent using the equipment properly. Having 2 teeth out of what? 8? in contact with the tree is not how the weight limits are figured out. Sorry man, Improper use. -

Yep, you pushed the weight limit and it bit ya because you didnt have it bit into the tree properly. You got lucky. Why arent you lowering your gear to the ground before you start down? That would relieve some of the weight, and add some cushion to the load capacity. Live and learn, right? Glad you are ok. -
I dont wait all year for deer season to sit my ass on the couch thinking about it some more while its open. Im gonna be hunting SOMEWHERE every single chance I get for the entire season. I already have 1 in the freezer and will put money down that there are more to follow this year. I agree that you dont want to burn yourself out with all day sits right now (IMO not effective or worth it yet), but come on guys, the excuses for not being out there this year are really making me laugh at this point. "Its too hot", "Ill burn myself out", "Its not good hunting yet" lol sheesh. Hunt smart, play the wind and choose the right stands, youll see deer.

Sounds to me like a high meat hit. 2" down, even from a 20 foot stand is probably above the spine. That big pool of blood you found was probably the last bleed before it clotted up. I hope you searched and searched though. Call Deer Search and see if they can help.

it looks that way because of how the pic was taken. If you hold it out at arms length toward the camera, it will look huge. No way its a 300lb deer. Pics of the scale or it isnt true.

Not trying to be a downer, but my old 870 grouped better than that at 100 yards with a cheap Bushnell Banner scope and Hornady SSTs. No modifications needed. This pic was 100 yards rested on a wood block on a bench. No lead sled, no bags. The shots toward the top right were from me dialing the scope in. The 3 shot group near the spot were the final 3.

Thanks guys. Good luck to those that are out there today!

Summits are made in this country. Besides, from the pic, there werent any weld failures. Looks like a stand put past its weight capacity to me. -
Thanks Lawdwaz! Felt good to break the ice.

Well I ended up having 6 or 7 does and a few fawns come running out 30 yards to my left just before sunset, and one of the does gave me a nice, ever so slight quartering to shot. I rewarded her with a 125 grain tipped carbon injection right through both lungs and the center of her heart. She took off and i heard her crash 30 yards away in the thick stuff off to the left in the pic i posted earlier. It was a good night! Pics in the success thread...
