I wouldnt hunt the morning this early in the season. Im not taking any time off until the end of October and in November. All evening hunts for me.

No, they are disgusted by the genetic manipulation if the species. 2 year old deer that cant hold their heads up due to the weight of the manufactured rack on their heads, etc. Sorry, but any high fence operation that does not exceeded the average home range of a wild deer, or one that hand raises deer in barns and small pens, and then releases them into a small enclosure to be shot, is a black eye to the real hunting world. The QDMA is pretty clear on their opinions on the subject. Now Im not against the farming of deer for scents, meat, research, but the high fence hunts that I described above are sick IMO.

I was busting on you. I did post that pic on FB though. Funnyish story on that doe. I shot her with my ML (it was the last day of the season a couple of years ago) right through the lungs. She went down right in her tracks. I climbed out of my stand after reloading, and walked over to her. Just as I got to her, her head went straight up, scaring the ever loving out of me. I went to shoulder the rifle and put the second shot in her vitals, but her head got in the way just as I pulled the trigger and the shot caught her right in the nose on its way to the vitals. The rest is just dirt and ruffled hair from the drag. Thats why she looks like that.

Actually, Im an officer in a branch. I also attended the National Convention this year, and there was one fenced whitetail hunt auctioned off, but the fenced area was 11000+ acres in Texas. Not what I would call a canned preserve hunt. The QDMA does not oppose all whitetail farming activities, as the link that Culver posted shows. Brian Murphy has interest in a PA deer farm? Do tell, because i cant come up with anything about that. Who is "Don H"?

What I do to keep them together, is I have a length of strap on the top, and another shorter piece with a spring loaded clip on the bottom. Its adjustable, so you can leave it longer while you climb, then tighten it up once you are where you want to be. Makes the stand feel even more solid. Ill see if I can find a link to one for you.

The bean fields are devoid of deer around me at this point. Tons of mast falling has them spread out right now. They are also spending alot of time in the corn, so sightings are down, but the plethora of fresh tracks tells me they havent disappeared.

Man Im glad I cut my own anymore. $70 a deer would get pretty pricey.

I started out with one of the Comfort Zone climbers years ago. I ended up selling it because of the mesh platform becoming noisy, etc. I made the jump to a Summit Viper and never looked back. Best move I made, as my CZ climber ended up not getting used hardy at all because it was so noisy. Im not saying noisy to climb with, Im saying noisy once you were up in it.

Ill never get that 3:45 of my life back....

I have a bunch of shrink tube at home. Great idea.
