First run with the sausage press/kit
WNYBuckHunter replied to Fantail's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
I love making my own sausage. I still have quite a bit from this past season in the freezer. I need to use it up soon. -
Is it noisy? My harness has one built into the strap already. Hmmm

I know what I saw in the video, there are no assumptions. If the guy had walked up, stayed professional and removed the sign, then yeah, I could maybe buy into the suggestion that he was just doing his job. Thats not how it happened. Stick your head in the sand about it all you want, the video is pretty clear.

Basically, biologists go around to the local processing places and gather data, then all of the info is put into a statistical analysis system and the numbers are based on that.

Not without proper procedure they cant. We have an unregistered vehicle ordinance as well, and there is a procedure that has to be followed before the town can impound the vehicle. It is a series of notices and fines. They cannot just waltz onto your property and take things. You need to update yourself on the law if you really think a badge gives anyone the right to steal. Its pretty obvious the cop kicked over and stole the sign. Kicking it over shows his malicious intent.

Yes, but my concern is that if you fall off the ladder, you will end up swinging off to the side and becoming suspended anyway. I do realize that as you get older, things can give out, or something unexpected could happen, but I dont want to replace one danger with another. Now if you could figure out a way for the rope to follow the path you are traveling, like it does with a hang on or climber, Id use one.

Well, the video shows him kick it over and remove it, placing it in his cruiser. The person that it belonged to reported 4 signs being stolen. You do the math. It doesnt show him talking to the property owner, or the property owner removing the sign, does it? If you come on my property and take my belongings without my permission, or the legal right to do so, you are stealing and I dont give a damn if you are police officer or not.
-
The correct action would be to ask the homeowner to remove it, not take it. Thats theft, regardless of the clothes you wear to work. Police are not allowed to steal anymore than anyone else is.

They tried it in the past and got bit in the ass pretty bad because of it. Its an uphill fight for them to get people to realize that is not what they are about. It certainly doesnt help when you have a few branches that make Mandatory ARs their main focus, and flaunt the association to the QDMA as some sort of justification for their agenda and theories. The QDMA needs more branches like ours, that puts the focus where it belongs, on education and outreach rather than ticking people off with TDM style legislation and chest thumping.
-
Well, they do alot in the legislative area as well, but they will only help push ARs if the area meets very specific criteria.

New Ohio Regulations.
WNYBuckHunter replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Out of New York Hunting
Theres no law stating when you have to leave the woods, only when you can shoot a deer. Fact is, the 30 mins before sunrise/30 mins after sunset rule is in place in many states, and isnt an issue. People just need to use common sense and basic safety to determine if its safe to shoot or not, regardless of what time the law is set to. -
I dont use the lifeline with my ladder stands. I know I should, but I dont. I just hookup once I get up there. Just make sure to use a hoist rope with all your gear, dont try carrying it up the ladder.

are you sure youre using him as bear bait, or is that some kind of odd fetish?

Stop putting the A at the end of QDM unless you are talking about the organization lol. Drives me batty because a great organization gets dragged through the mud of every wanna be manager's selfish goals. If you want to know what the actual QDMA stands for, rather than assume, check their website www.QDMA.com . Lots of great info there.

I started out with irons, and kept it to less than 75 yards. My new ML has a scope, and I wont go back for my regular hunting gun. One of these days Id like to get an old school ML, like a Hawken, and then Ill use irons, but that gun would only come out once in a while.

Oh I scout while Im hunting, to a point. Im not going to ram rod through unknown possible bedding areas, and random trails to figure out where they go, etc during bow season though. That stuff gets done during gun if need be, or right after gun. I did a little fine tuning type scouting last week and feel like maybe it was too close. My buddy wanted to follow some trails and scout possible stand locations on one property the other day. I looked at him and asked if he thought that was a really good idea this close to opening day. We agreed that it wasnt.
-
Isnt it a little late to start scouting for bow season?
-
Send them my way, Ill have no issue with it lol
-
Probably not QDMA, just self purported "QDM" groups. Most people refer to anything QDM as QDMA
-
So, you dont agree with studies done with GPS collars placed on many different deer, in different areas where they knew where the deer was every x number of minutes of the day? Ok then.

This puts it in perspective, or should.

UTV vs compact tractor
WNYBuckHunter replied to fu2lmao's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
If you are looking at UTVs for work, check out the diesels. We use a Kubota 900 diesel for tilling food plots, and it works great. Drop that sucker in 4wd low gear and its an absolute animal. Step on the diff lock pedal, and it will go through just about anything, and pulls like crazy. You can get plenty of attachments for them, even hydro chainsaws, pole saws, etc. That being said, a tractor has way more in the attachment department. If you are just doing occasional heavy brush hogging, and large scale (2+ acres at a crack) plowing, the UTV should be just fine, as you can hire someone to come in with the tractor once a year or every few years. If you are doing more than that, go with the tractor. It all depends on what exactly, your goals are.
