I went to my ground blind this morning only to discover it was gone. This is on a farm I got permission for this year. Only myself and one other guy have permission for this area, and he hasnt hunted at all this year. I am going to talk to the land owner this weekend, but im pretty sure I know the group that took it. They better hope I dont find out it was them. Some people are scum bags, I hope they feel good that they basically stole from a 6 year old girl because I bought that blind so she could hunt with me.

Im heading out the door in just a few for todays morning hunt. Im probably going to try and stalk to a few creek bottoms to see if anything is holed up in there. I hope the snow isnt very crunchy.

Camo Truck Kits
WNYBuckHunter replied to 6county's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Its not really that tough to do, its kind of like tinting your windows, but on a larger scale. Depending on how large of sections you are doing, you will need help. Cleaning and prep is important as well. It all depends on how much and what size parts you want to do. Unless you have a big garage and some buddies to help out, I wouldnt suggest trying a full size wrap for your first attempt. If you are just looking to do a stripe of some kind, or mouldings or something along those lines, you should be ok. -
I dont know, an aftermarket exhaust usually costs more than a factory one.
-
No, I think the more accepted term that I've seen used is "cross-gun". Let's get it right folks!.... Oh, ok. Thanks for clearing that up Doc!
-
Yeah, no way to tell for sure, just seems very coincidental. Id rather take a chance and pull the cameras from the area to see what happens.
-
Ive never heard of a crossrifle, is that something new? Oh and your stereo type of guys with aftermarket exhaust on their truck is just about as silly as your anti-crossbow nonsense.

ba dum bum! ;D

I think I already had one....

Do Bobcats kill deer? I guess so who'da thunk it.
WNYBuckHunter replied to erussell's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
No, you can see the deer seems to be alive in the pics, but who says it wasnt injured or sick and weakened. Just thinking out loud. -
What I have started to notice is that the deer in my area seem to be changing their patterns over the last few years. Is it due to me checking the cameras or is it a coincidence and are there other factors that I dont know about in play? Im not sure. What I do know is that for years and years the deer used to come though the area at almost a predictable time using the same trails. Now, they have moved their trails and the times they come through are different, but still predictable. I am going to change my tactics and back off of the area more and see what happens.

Cool pics, but it just shows the bobcat attacking a deer, there are no pics of it feeding on the dead deer or of the carcass. Also, we dont know if the deer was injured or sick before the bobcat attacked it. This is also the first time I have seen pics of a bobcat killing a grown deer. Does it happen? Probably sometimes, but does it happen regularly or to healthy, full grown deer? Who knows. Im just skeptical about these things. -
Some people dont care. Much of the coyote hunting land I have access to is farm land, the farmers just want the yotes gone to protect their livestock, farm cats and dogs. They dont want someone looking for trophy dogs, or picking and choosing the ones with the best fur, they want them dead, as many as possible. If you dont produce results, the chances that they have other guys come in and get it done is just that much higher. I have someone to buy the pelts, but only if they dont have mange. Thats not gonna stop me from shooting mangy ones though.

Ive been hunting for 20 years, took about 5 off while I lived other places, but have never lost a wounded deer with the gun. Lost a couple to other people that took them from me. Ive been bow hunting for 6 years now, and have wounded 1, but it survived the high hit.
-
Fantail, can you post a link to the regs that say you have to report a coyote kill? I cant find anything on the DEC site and have never heard of that. DECALS is for Deer, Bear and Turkey, see here... http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8316.html

I put down that I mostly hunt private land, but that would be a just barely percentage. I hunt state land quite a bit, particularly during bow.

I dont think the cameras themselves bother the deer, Ive gotten plenty of shots of them looking at and sniffing the cams, then the same deer right back there the next day or a few days later. What I believe to be bothering them is the added pressure of me going in and out to change cards and batteries. I dont check my cams once a week either, its more like once every two or three weeks.

I used to text with the number pad, once you get used to it, it was a ton easier to do when you are driving hahaha.

I know lots of guys that just leave them lay. I will shoot them whenever they are in range. I also love to hunt them after deer season, started doing it at night last year and its great fun. I found a guy that buys them for the pelts as long as they dont have mange.

HAHA, yeah I do work for people every day that cant learn not to click on a spyware link or open a viagara email no matter how many times you tell them not to.
