Ever shot any sitting on the ground with a crossbow
RangerClay replied to luberhill's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Every deer I've killed with a crossbow was sitting down. I use a heavy duty lawn chair in my ground blind. I turn the chair slightly then I use the cup holder on the arm as a rest. -
You will be fine. Next year upgrade to a nipple that takes a musket cap. You will get a better burn and less chances of a hang fire. Also sprinkle a few grains of powder under the nipple before you put your cap on. You will be good to go.

I always snap a cap with my T/C Renegade to clean out any oil left under the nipple. Then afterwards I sprinkle a few grains of powder under the nipple. I found it makes it a little hotter and I never have hang fires EVER.

I got mine last year. Found that loose powder and Powerbelts worked the best. Great gun.

I've been trying for years to capture that photo without any luck. Congratulations!! Nice pic. -

Ditch the Centerpoint arrows. Go buy any other commercial brand and watch your pattern tighten. Use the Centerpoint arrows to get you on the paper then fine tune with your good arrows. Personally I like Lumenocks. Without a doubt the longest battery life and super amazing customer service. -
I would start with heavy Under Armor Cold Gear. I never go out without it.

In my ground bling I sit in a lawn chair. I put my elbow on my elbow or the arm of the chair and rest my crossbow in the palm of my hand.

Time to back out. the pink stuff in your previous pic is intestinal lining. Wait till 3:30 and go back. Wait till morning if coyotes are not a problem. -
One thing I do to prevent moth damage is to have them dry cleaned. Then I leave them wrapped in the plastic covering. I have never had moth damage in over 40 years.

I have owned Chevy or GMC since 1982. My 2019 Chevy Trailboss is my least favorite of them all. And from what I hear, Chevy has had a lot of issues with them.

I was going to say that you need to lay off the beans. As soon as snow comes I am in wools as well and we do drives. I have never seen Filson wool so I cannot speak for their thickness or quality. I have always had Woolrich wool hunting pants in grey. I personally think it the best camouflage out there.

I really never had any luck with a grunt tube until I bought a Buck Roar. I use it just for grunting, never tried to roar.

You have no idea how much I miss my cabin with no electricity in the Adirondaks. You should be so lucky to have a place off the beaten path. Nothing like the sound of gas lights hissing while playing cards with your hunting pals. Get a generator for the small things like a vacuum cleaner after season is over. Go for it.

Yes what he said. But please don't go to every store and bar in town. Come supplied and stay put.
-
Mine usually are as well. Soak them in some ice water and they come clean.

Wow! Check out them hemlocks. That's where I would be after the first good snow.

Remember this is the finest cut of meat on a deer. It is the filet mignon cut if you want to get technical. In our house we call them "Innies" for inside loin. Last weekend I cooked a pair up for a friend. Wrapped them in maple bacon and grilled until about 120 in the middle. That was some fine eating. I personally like them sliced about 3/8" and lightly fried in butter. Oooo so good!

Bill's Feed in Great bend had some but not a lot of ammo. Mostly oddball stuff like .32 WCF.

I was in the Watertown Walmart two days ago. Don't even bother. A couple boxes of bird loads and that was it. After the last shortage I stocked up on my favorite 30-30 ammo. Glad I did now.

Thank you!! That was easy. Must be the link I have at home is faulty. Much obliged everyone! -
Should make for an interesting day on the Salmon River

Several years ago we had to send information about our pistols via the internet to the NYS Troopers. I did what it asked and I had forgotten about it. I came across the link on my computer and I believe it has to be updated every 5 years. I tried getting back into the page and it won't let me. Is this something that we still have to do?

Great pics! Looks like you have one really dandy buck. The fox, coon and fishers haven't allowed a clutch of turkeys to survive at my place in 3 years.
