  1. BLA BLA BLA, just some more old buzzard stuff, i can't remember some of the thing I can't find
  2. Its a nice scope, you can see pretty good in low light with it, it has a fire dot but I haven't used it, I could do without the circle in the cross hairs. I don't like the BDC scopes either, I like things simple
  3. I have a number of 3x9's and 4x12's but, I really like the low power scopes for up close shots, you can get on target quick with both eyes open. I have a few 1x4's and a VX6 1x6 thats real nice, just my opinion
  4. Well I guess I'm pre pube buzzard, almost 57. Had to put my mom in a nursing home a few months ago, not so cool, but I found a video that fits, check it out
  5. Has anyone seen the BOW BUBBLE article in Field & Stream? Anyone shoot a Mission, Diamond or one of the other brands that are from the less expensive sister company's?
  6. Wow, this is a great thread, cool seeing the house dogs out having a snack
  7. Check out http://meritseed.com/wildlife-food-plot-store/wildlife-seed-mixes/
  8. That Merkel is sweat, I checked one out at Cabela's in Michigan
  9. I'm usually not a negative person but, Ohio isn't what it used to be.
  10. I love sxs, I have a couple, and a couple o&u's. My go to is a super Vinci, I have other shot guns, but that's the one. Ever look at Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturers? They make a RBL Professional 20ga slug gun. Its like a double rifle for big game, and a bunch of other cool doubles.
  11. How did you guy's make out? with the deer, not each other
  12. Really, I was turkey hunting in West Virginia, one foggy morning we climbed one of those hills in the dark, then waited for day light. When the sun came up the clouds-fog were below us, it was bright sun and all you saw was the tops of the other hills sticking out of the clouds. That was a really cool to see. It was pre camera phones
  13. I'd like to try shooting pigs out of a helicopter, a stag in New Zealand, other than that, I like my DIY hunts I put together
  14. Don't know if this is of any interest to you but, I had a model 7 re barreled to 450 marlin last year if your trying to get a straight wall cartridge, it came out real nice. The guy that put it together claims you can get a 300gn slug to go close to 3000fps. I haven't got that far with it yet but, it shoots nice
  15. I have a BPS 10, it doesn't kick as hard as my super vinci or my cynergy with 3.5's. When I'm shooting, I don't hear or feel it, I'm in the zone. Its heavier and longer. It swings nice, and it takes the birds out but I don't hunt with it because of the nice wood, I'm a synthetic stock person
  16. Good luck guys, the only advice I can give without knowing where your hunting is, STAY CLEAR OF ANY AMISH AREAS, like far away, if your going anywhere near Danville, there's a place called the FOX HOLE you might want to check out, you need to bring your own beer. I'd be careful where I went with the 4 wheeler on public property
  17. I joined weight watchers and a gym last February, it took me 55 years, but i beat it, anorexia, I owned anorexia. By August I lost 60#, then I caught Legionaries disease, talk about a weight lose program, I lost another 13.4# in less than a week. I've been back at the gym almost every day for the last 5 or 6 weeks. I'm still not right, but I'm trying. I never thought I would ever say this but, daily exercise is a very good thing, I feel a lot better than I did a year ago. Don't be afraid to give it a try, what do you have to loose?
  18. For the past 19-20 years I've hunted a private farm in Coshocton county, just east of Danville off of 36. It was awesome, during gun week, it would be none stop shooting all day long, I saw groups of deer all day long, this year it went a couple of hours without hearing a shot. I shot a few bucks over the years, nothing real big, saw a few, saw others with big ones. All of the other guys in the group hunted with cross bows. Nothing really got shot during bow season, its kinda of far away for us to really scout it out. With in the last 10 years the AMISH have moved into the area, thats when we all noticed a change. Go on the Ohio forums, nobody is saying how great it is, nobody says anything about the AMISH, I don't get it. Granted, you don't see that many deer hit on the roads anymore. All I can say is, don't go filling everyones freezer, don't believe everything they do on the out door channel, QUIT SHOOTING ALL THE DOE. You won't have any deer left. I can't believe there are 2 guy's from Vermont that lease that farm I hunt for $5000.00 a week for the first 2 weeks of November, that won't last much longer, Ohio's shot out compared to what it was. Its not the cross bow, I don't shoot one, maybe some day I'll have to. It's not the poaching, that will happen regardless you can't control that. Just don't over harvest. Good luck and let me know where the fight is going to take place.
  19. Happy new year, the best of health to everyone
  20. Hey everyone, first post. I'm in Ohio. The reason I came creeping here is I have become a terrible deer hunter or, the deer in the areas I hunt have moved out or, got shot out. So I'm looking for new places to hunt, I was offered some private land in west NY to hunt, so here I am. A few years ago if you moved around and hunted different counties in Ohio, you could shoot 18 deer, only one could be a buck. I had a couple of real good spots to hunt, used to see deer all day long. Now your lucky to see one. Its kinda funny to see all the out of state people hunting like their Bone Collector pro staff and going home empty handed, and from far away, like Georgia, Florida, Maine, Vermont, PA and NY. Granted there are some big bucks taken, 2 were shot out of a stand I hunted 7 times during our gun season, one the same day. I think it comes down to the amount of Does taken out of the herd, breeders. Kinda like going to the bar and shooting all the chicks, if you do that your not GETTING LAID. I saw a graft between gun and bow kills over the years I will post when I find it, you'll see the increase of bow kills and decrease in gun kills. I don't shoot a crossbow, I shoot a compound, always have, my kids do, and I can only think of 3 other people that I hunt with that do. Everyone else uses crossbows. Not bashing them, just the way it is. I'm not a fan of eating venison, I like smokies, but I will not fill my freezer with it. I haven't shot a deer since 2008. My boys will shoot them, I'm good with that, if thing keep going the direction they are, the deer will be a thing of the past, like when I was a kid. In the 60's and 70's where I live it was a big deal to see a deer track, we hunted coons with dog's. Wasn't till the mid 80's that I started hunting deer, it was good once I started to figure it out a little, and stated to shoot some. It's kinda funny to look at the little racks I used to shoot. I'll post that gun bow kill graft when I find it. later
