Snake shot history who knows all about this stuff
mowin replied to phantom's topic in General Chit Chat
I've was just given a ammo can full of .22 cal snake shot. I can count on one hand how many times I've shot snake shot since I was a kid. Not sure what I'll do with the stuff. Probably put up balloons and have my younger nieces and nephew's pop some. -
Sounds like great parents. Cherish the memories.

Panic Gun and Ammo Buying.
mowin replied to airedale's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I've got friends calling me asking me if I've got any ammo they might need. They can't find ammo to go hunting. -
That's a big chunk of charcoal.

You read it correctly. 29" draw. Rage chisel tip. Dozen + deer with current setup. However, my shoulder is getting worse. I may have to drop my poundage to 40. If so, I'll go to a fixed blade head. If at some point can't pull 40#, I'll only xbow hunt.

Measure out 30 yrds. Shoot your 400's and the 340's. The heavier arrows(340) might hit a tad lower. Which ever one you feel preform better, use those. At 63# 27", your very close to jumping from the 400 to the 340, so either one should work great.
-
The 340's are stiffer, and heavier. Slower, but the heavier arrow will/should penetrate further. Again, it's a debate that happens every year. What penetrate's better? A lighter faster arrow, or a slower heavier arrow? I prefer a happy medium. If the 340's are shooting good, and you happy with the flight/groups, you have no worries. I'm shooting 45# do to a bad shoulder. Haven't lost a deer using lighter, 500 shafts and rage heads. Limit my shots to 30yrds.

I'd love a cab on my tractor. Unfortunately when I purchased, it wasn't in the budget. Every yr while brush hogging, I hit a few bees nests. Always get a few stings too. A cab sure would help.
-
There a tad stiff for 63#, but it depends on the length of the arrow shaft. The heavier shaft will be a bit slower, but will penetrate a little better. Ahh, the speed vs penetration debate, lol.....

In Texas there is a town called New Braunfels, where there is a large German-speaking population. One day, a local rancher driving down a country road noticed a man using his hand to drink water from the rancher's stock pond. The rancher rolled down the window and shouted: "Sehr angenehm! Trink das Wasser nicht. Die kuehe haben darein geschissen." This means: “Glad to meet you! Don't drink the water. The cows have shit in it." The man shouted back: "I'm from New York and just down here campaigning for Joe Biden. I can't understand you. Please speak in English." The rancher replied: "Use both hands."

Fall campfires are the best. Cool in the evening, trees changing colors. 53°. Had a frost the past two nights.

I'd shoot any size piebald. The are genetically inferior. If you're managing your heard, it's best to take them out. Don't want them breeding.

In our state, king Andy, and federally, Harris/Biden campaign are the top salesperson's for firearms and ammo. They are definitely the top salesperson's of the past couple years. -

I would hate to be the nomine. Imagine the attacks from the left that person is going to be subjected to. The left about destroyed the last nomine. Wait and see what they pull this time. -
Sorry, but not removing the tarsals has nothing to do with the flavor of the meat. They can't and do not affect the flavor of the meat once dead and hanging. The time of death during the rut depends on the flavor. The tarsals can't continue to taint the meat unless it's hung in the rain where the glands can weep onto the meat.

Disagree 100% . My dad would purposefully shoot fawns. He loved em. And so did I. We would mark those packages when processing. Dad wouldn't lets us eat all the Bambi first. He wanted it to last, lol. If everything is the same as far as time of year, quick kill, how it's processed, prepared, ECT, a fawn is definitely better eating over a 1 1/2 or older doe. Agree 100% on the amount of meat.
