Swamp_bucks

I hunted it for the first time earlier in the week in pa. I found what worked best was observe from a distance trails going in.( I had snow so it was easy to see the fresh tracks). Then I got downwind and let my scent blow in and they would pop out the other side looking for the danger. Worked enough for me to see 10 deer. The only one that took off like crazy was the buck but he was only 30yrds from me when he jumped and had played that game before.

Nope usually do 1 or 2 days doesn't look like we will this year. Maybe during ML season. Might do some small ones in PA on the 11th.

To have friends like these that are willing to come and enjoy a once in a lifetime buck on stateland. Pictures of them with me means more than a picture with the buck I shot. I'll be framing this picture and it'll be next to the buck when I get him back.

So I'm trying to send another member of a really big buck he would probably enjoy seeing. However i can't seem to send the picture through a private message. Any help would be great.

Just find a blow down and sit in it. I've never had good luck just throwing blinds up.

Not sure when I'll get back out again. I know the 11th we are hitting up pa again. I've been picking up alot of OT at the hospital. So we will see. I have plenty of venison for us but my dad and FIL want some meat.

Good day in the woods without a shot. Nice calm day with flurries the entire time. Took a mile up the mountain before I caught fresh tracks. Ended up seeing 1 buck jumped him wasn't big but couldn't of gotten a shot even if I new he was legal,2 unknown, 3 fawns and 5 does. If I had a doe tag I would of had one 3 of the does and 1 fawn stood looking at me for 2 mins at 40yrds. All sign was 1500' or higher.i think we are going back on the last day of the season so atleadt we know where to start.

Up getting ready and on the road for a hr to some pa stateland. Hope my luck continues this year. Looking something legal and that's it not being picky because I probably only have this and maybe 1 more day to go down.

I want to say that's the same gun mt friend has in 30-06 it loves the hornady sst round never had an issue

Trucks all ready for the morning. Just getting my bag and butcher stuff squared away. If I shoot one it's getting cut up in the fields and carried out.

Looks like pa got some snow as well. Hopinf I can get up high and catch a fresh track or one heading to bed tomorrow morning. I'm hunting until 2

Thanks for the info. Those woods are pretty even mixture of pines and hardwoods. If I can find a good pinch pt I may setup for an hr to see what comes through. Either way I'll be out hunting and not working

Statelands should be cooling off by now. Put on some orange and go still hunt some bedding areas. More pressure means closer to bedding you need to be if not in it. You can get away with alot of noise going through the woods as for spooking deer 3 of us walked in last Sunday with headlamps on and walked past 2 deer under 30 yards and they never spooked.

Week isn't going fast enough. Itching to get into the PA mountains for the day on Tuesday. I'll be looking for any legal buck but hoping for a good one. I'll be still hunting the leeward side of the hills. Hoping there's snow up high so I can cut a track and go.

That's what I did 3 yrs ago. Love real trees and the smell but hate the needles. Now I have no needles a pretty tree and have a candle that smells like a real tree so I'm good. Should have mine up monday.

So I'm going to PA Tuesday. I don't plan on hunting where I did during bow. We talked to some people because we were struggling to get on deer. Many people said go up higher. For those of you that hunt the higher mountains of the Adirondacks what's the average height do you guys tend to come across the most deer? @Buckmaster7600 was hoping for some insight. I'm not sitting just still hunting for the day hoping there's snow up higher. Picture is the area I'm focusing on. We spot lighted 4 shooter bucks in a meadow not far from these hills. Hoping one is up in there still.

I'll add them as more are taken. 1st: Nephews 1st deer during youth season spike horn 2nd: my 4pt bow season october 27tg 3rd: friends 6pt Thanksgiving morning 4th: 8pt gun buck opening day 5th: friends 5pt second day of gun season Good year so far for us. With alot of time left. Plus the extra week for ml will help a couple of my friends who don't bow hunt.
