Got up in the stand this morning at 7:05 and shot this buck at 7:15!!! Honestly, I was planning on sitting in a different stand but the high winds made me try a new spot that I hung for my wife a few days ago. Not much of a story really...was sitting there and looked up to see a deer coming down the hill...it was still a bit dark so I couldn't see what it was. Checked it out through my binos...saw a nice spread and a weird right side. I stood up...grabbed my bow and waited to see what he was gonna go. He headed right towards me...went behind a tree...I drew back...he stepped out at 15 yds quartering towards me a bit...I put the pin right on his shoulder and sent the Rage hypo on its way. He tore off...made it 40 yds...chrashed into a tree (breaking his right G2 off)...got up and went down several times before his lights went out for good. He was spraying blood everywhere!!! While he's not the biggest buck in the area, I'm happy to take him. My goal was to kill a buck no younger than 3.5 yrs old and this guy appears to be 3.5 based on his body size. He must have been either genetically deficient or had an old injury to his back left leg (didn't see anything abnormal while skinning him). Everything happened so quickly that it's kind of bittersweet to have to sit out the next three weeks... 9 pts total(one wierd one near the brow on the right side and a sticker on the base), 18" inside spread:

Real nice bird: 10.5" beard and 1" spurs. Only my second turkey with a bow...

Had three gobblers come by the other day and was fortunate enough to get by bow drawn back and was able to run a Rage Hypodermic through the biggest bird. What a way to cap off a great 2014 turkey season!!!

It's a bit windy but nice and chilly. I tried a new stand yesterday afternoon due to the NW wind and had a beauty and another small buck come across the gulley crossing below me. He walked by at about 35 yds but it's still way to leafy to see let alone shoot. Ended up moving my stand closer to where he crossed this morning. Now, I'm just sitting here hoping that he returns tonight. We'll see in another half hour or so...

Nothing yet. I've got a camera set up under my stand so I snuck out of the stand to grab the card a few minutes ago. Had a big buck come strolling through at 5:55 this morning...the next pics were of me getting to the stand at 6:10. Worse yet, I went back to bed yesterday morning because it was raining out...wouldn't you know the buck that I'm after was 10 yds from my stand at 7:13!!!

I hunt some pretty decent ground with some pretty decent bucks but I'm pretty certain that I would have drilled that dude!!!! Hopefully, your patience will be rewarded with a wallhanger!!!!

I set a camera up on a scrape the other day and had this awesome looking 2 year old come to check things out. I've seen him several times through out the summer/fall but these are the first pics that I've gotten of him. We don't see many forked tines out this way, I'd love to see this youngster get a couple more years on him...

Little windy here near Keuka Lake in 8P. I filled doe tag #2 last night with a big ole nanny doe. It's buck only for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, tonight's my last hunt until Tuesday morning...

Just got winded by a big ole doe. She snorted several times. Hoping she didn't ruin the evening.

Things should be getting interesting any time. Set a stand up earlier this afternion in a big white oak that is raining acorns. There were 10 deer under this tree for an hour straight this morning. Hopefully, a couple will be back to pay me a visit within the next hour...

Doe found inside of 1000 pound alligator
WNY Bowhunter replied to BigGuyNY's topic in General Chit Chat
Pythons have evolved to swallow prey whole, their jaws and skeletons were adapted to stretch to accomodate large objects. Alligators and crocodiles twist and roll to break off chunks of flesh to swallow. A 100lb doe is not that small when you swallow the head and legs too...
