  1. Just remember that when a majority of people now want them banned the minority will be overruled. And let's face it we are becoming the minority. Those applications also work against us. When you say "some" and it is actually "most" it IS now the will of the people. And when you say "we" and that means 15% of the population. "We" are no longer the loudest voice. To ignore this is again a blind spot. And disclaimer.... I usually vote libratarian or conservative. I just see that others have opinions not in my echo chamber.
  2. I saw these places out west where you can go for the day and shoot a bunch of autos etc. That would be fun. Bazookas too
  3. again we agree on everything here. and you actually proved my point that they arent comng here for freedom of persicusion.
  4. So i guess my question is what is the line? Claymores? Miniguns? MOABS? AR's? single shots? Or just anything we can buy or want? Society will never allow "unfettered"
  5. i dont disagree with a single thing you said here, except maybe why people are fleeing to this country. If youve been wathcing the border crisis people coming here are stating wealth and jobs not freedom to own a firearm. Yes i get that they are coexistant. I again am for 2A but it seems so many that are, are also blind to reasoning on the other side. I can see why an AR is questioned by so many. How can you not see that...
  6. As i stated above I am all for 2A and i am not for banning AR's. But i can understand how people look at those and wonder WTH. I think in the broader sense almost every acitivity has an anti group to it these days. I never said I was letting it slide, but i also said I understand why a grandmother in Detroit wonders how there can be so much gun violence and doenst care if i hunt or not. We are never going back to the wild west. And no longer is it just a 6 shooter that people can carry. There does have to be a line. Although 2A was written at the time of muskets I also dont think it should be legal to own your own Howitzer. There has to be an will be a line whether you or anyone else likes it lets face it. But to fear monger and say they are taking away 2A is a jump i am not willing to go to yet.
  7. I actually am looking at the big picture of how people - other than a few of us- see things. I also did not say all Semi autos. Got to... just got to.... have a semi for ducks ..... esp with my ability. But your limited to 3 shots in the chamber anyway. But dont i see a hunting need for an AR. A semi auto rifle with a 3/4 shot sure. Dont need the new AR military style with a banana clip to hunt anything. Im just saying I can see the other side of things. If your not a gun onwer and have no need for them, then understanding why someone needs a personal M16 can be questioned. Hell we would prob all like to have a minigun to play with but Im glad everyone doesnt. But as you say 100 years ago I dont know they invisioned what we have today that was developed during 2 world wars. And i get where everyone is coming from in being afraid of a slippery slope of what gets banned and what doesnt. But My hunting rifle and some of these AR's being used and what they are needed for a long way apart. If the line comes closer im not going to fear monger over it. And say 2A is gone
  8. this is only partially true. If a single shot was as effective as an M16 then why does the military not carry H&R's? lol As much as we want to make this arguement it just isnt true. If you were going to do something bad and an AR with extra magazines or a single shot and 4 pockets full of loose shells are your choices, your not chosing the single shot. cmon. That being said... I am sure Al capone would have given up a life of crime if only they had made machine guns illegal back in that day. Lol. Criminals will buy any gun they can get. We all think its a slippery slope if assault rifles are taken away. Whether anyone can face it or not they are designed to be military weapons and are not needed for hunting of any sort, nor self defense in a reasonable day. Yes god forbid i said it. Just most wont admit it. For those that own an AR - other than some target plinking and the cool factor they arent anything else. Now i have to state i am for 2A of course and i mostly side with fighting gun regulation. Hell i would love to get a .410 AR ive been looking at, I'd love to see pistol carry be consistant and legal with all the right checks and legalities gone thru. But i am also able to see the arguements made and the points that are made. Do i think AR's should be eliminated - Im not there yet. Do i feel all that threatened if they do. Not really. There is fear mongering on the right just as there is on the left. If i thought it would solve everything i would just hunt with my bow and actually be happy with that. And yes i know guns are to defend against an overpowerful govt etc. I get that. Put the fear mongering aside we arent having a war against our govt or amongst ourselves. At least im not.
  9. Grilled Venison dogs and tuna Mac salad....
  10. fact about Morehouse. I have NEVER gone thru there without almost hitting a turkey! lol. Just past where 8 starts to climb past 365 and 8 intersection a couple of miles. EVERY time i go thru there are turkeys in the road!
  11. it was for me as well then it became a frustration. lol I can fly fish a bit, have caught trout and bass and it is fun. but most of the little streams ive always fished were so brushy it was more of a pain than fun. Nowadays almost all my stream trout fishing is done with a tiny jig.
  12. you know what - I lied. Lol Its actually a Bass pro brand. I do have a Fenwick also for trout - its a 6'9" . But the BPS is my favorite. Sorry too many Rods! and so little time....
  13. x2 on the Fenwick. I like a 6.5 or 7 ft for trout fishing. Esp the little brushy streams where your flipping baits in. I think mine is a 4-10lb. Def fast tip. I hate a whippy rod with no backbone. Need to be able to control the cast. I hate ugly sticks for this reason, like fishing with a wet noodle.
  14. I will say again and this thread to me proves it. That the Republicans biggest blind spot is that they don't recognize that the culture is changing and we will soon be the minority voice. That weather it is in the Constitution or not if more people want to see guns taken away then people will lose their guns . It's that simple whether we like it or not. With the larger population centers of cities in NY and California, cities like detroit etc. , the citizens there can be decent people and just want the killings to stop anyway it can be. They aren't hunters, they don't understand the need for it and just see reports night after night of shootings. To them us giving up our rights is giving up hunting rights and not to defend ourselves or protect the Constitution. People are starting to be in more and more numbers of looking at it as a aged out document. When we become the voting minority that is when it is lost. I can see more and more gun restrictions coming but most of us won't be alive to see confiscations. But it will go there one day as society and culture are changing. And we don't like it and we scream about it but we are all becoming the old men on the on the porch. Sometimes the will of the people isn't what we want it to be. And we say it's cause we aren't voting in the right people. I think it is more our votes are getting outvoted for whom we consider the right people.
  15. Move the sight 3 hashes to the left and three hashes up and try it again.
  16. 91 here. I cant say i learned much there other than how to tap a keg. lol.
  17. I have also fished the oriskany. Over near solsville is pretty good. It's a slow mover in many areas there with some deep holes. All browns in there as far as I know. It's not a pretty stream like the west Canada but has some nice trout. One of my all time favorite trout streams runs into it there. The chenango canal. It doesn't look like much but it has some huge trout. Very tough to fish, about impossible with a fly rod, at least for my limited talents. But it's trophy trout water artificial only and only keep two trout over 12". 10 years ago it was unbelievable. Now it's been discovered more and I always see a ton of empty worm boxes there even though it's clearly posted you cant use them. So thinking it gets fished harder than it used to. It was always good for a 17-20 brown every trip. Now you have to work for them a bit more.
  18. Check out the DEC site for fishing regulations by county and it should be listed where. I also went to college in Herkimer and have fished that end of the west Canada. I fished a spot north of there towards middleville. I spent an hour and a half on two holes where I could see the trout in it and couldn't get them to touch anything I threw out there. No matter how much I cursed at them. Lol. 28 runs a long way parallel to that stream for sure.
  19. Are you talking about the west Canada? Great trout stream and some of the most finicky trout I've ever fished for. I haven't specifically fished Trenton falls but I've fished the west Canada near there a few times. There are some weird regulation changes thru that area so be careful where you fish and check the regs. Some artificial only areas, open year round areas, different size restrictions etc. I used to live in Holland patent and fished the flow out of Hinkley a lot and caught some great browns and rainbows out of it.
  20. Check this out. https://bowhunting360.com/2018/10/31/how-to-adjust-a-bow-sight/
  21. If you hit left Everytime then you prob need to move the sight left a bit. It will make you bring the pin back right. There should be an adjustment on the sight that you can loosen with an Allen wrench and the whole side will slide left/right. With a bow you actually want to move it to the direction your shooting and it will make you bring your pins back.
  22. i did some frost seeding on Sat too. Hoping some clover takes in a couple of places. Ground isnt as exposed as yours but hoping it grows and gets in there a bit. I used perrenial clover and hoping to have it ongoing there.
  23. Skillet meal. Cut up some venison steak and onions and garlic fried in pan, then added some beef stock, can of diced tomatoes, mushrooms and let it simmer for an hour and a half. Then added in some gnocchi. Good stuff.
