You don't see tracts of land like that avail except out west. Like you said surprised a group from Jersey or NYC hasn't grabbed it as a getaway. But a lot of work would be involved I'm sure to get a cabin up there and electricity may not be avail. But I have an old flame love affair with Lewis co from my younger days. It would be right up my alley and I would prob never be seen again...

Seemed like the right thing to do on finally a nice day.

Welcome in. Have hunted the dacks some and feel your pain. I passed on a three point in the dacks last year and should have shot it cause it's like a 9 point in the southern tier.

Third Annual Bone Creek Rendezvous show and tell
Robhuntandfish replied to dinorocks's topic in General Chit Chat
this reminds me of the movie "Mountain Men" with Charleton Heston and Brian Keith , where they went to the rendevous to trade pelts and drink whiskey and barter. Very cool event you've put together! -

shouldnt be any other specific requirements for a 16 yo. Other than expense. If you have a licensed driver at your residence your insurance will reflect this anyway. Just add them to your insurance policy would be the way to go. Just be ready for a 100% + increase , since you now have someone under 25 driving vehicles. A seperate insurance policy would be pretty expensive for a 16 yo esp listing him as the only driver. Plus they are going to assume since he lives with you that he is also driving the other vehicles.

Maybe some hope

those people that only care about free stuff might be because they dont expect anything else to get done. I think the more glaring stat is how many people actually vote. And why they dont vote - same reason. Democracy these days is two wolves who both voted for themselves and a lamb that voted while the rest of the herd wondered why we only have wolves to vote for. -

Im just not on the conspiracy trains for either side. I also dont think Pelosi, Biden or Cuomo are any masterminds. I think its as plausible as the right having secret NRA meetings. Too much internet crap fertilizes both sides and it isnt good for any of us, and only grows division and lack of trust. And the far right and left have a better stage than ever with the people as disgruntled as they are and giving up. What i do believe is that if the left has these secret agendas the right has just as many then. I will stay in the middle where i neither trust, nor like, either side until one of them can prove different. Broken promises, failure to govern with the people in mind, 5600 page legislation being passed - and guess what side i am talking about ...... both. I think the biggest failure of the right is not understanding that the culture is shifting. Which is also the strongest attribute of the left. That old conservatives sitting on their porch arent recognizing the culture is changing and peoples views as well. That is still a republic or a democracy - whatever title you choose- but the majority of people are declining with our "old fashioned values" whether we like it or not. And I am one of those porch sitters that yells stay off my lawn on occasion but I also see how it is ignored esp in NYS and by both parties. -

i think you give "them" too much credit for this master plan. Not a conspiracy guy. Everyone goes there too much. And Trump didnt need much help to look bad. These politicians couldnt put two squirrels in the same box much less devise a national secret plan with Pelosi and Cuomo and Biden. -
Nothing like a pretty trout from a little springfed stream. Looks like a great day

Vaccination

Moral of the story - never trust a guy that gives "vaccines" out of the trunk of his car. -
I've seen guys wade out to that median across from the dam and then get stuck there. We used to fish under the first bridge from the dam towards the lake and do well. Especially for browns it seemed and could get close to the water there without a fence. But if water was high and they took you past the bridge piling downstream forget trying to get them back.

Any changes in plans for deer season this year?
Robhuntandfish replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
Corey and I were talking about that this weekend. After food plots down the road we might look into a platform to start to put a blind on for those cold windy gun days. @Lomax spoiled me forever by letting me hunt with him. I'm blaming him.. lol -
Any changes in plans for deer season this year?

maybe better than getting into those tough spots and spooking them. Sounds like a plan thats been effective -
This season I am changing up how I look at the early part of the season a bit more. I am not seriously hunting until the long weekend i have starting Oct 23rd. I wil hunt some before that but most likely afternoons and on the fringes for a doe. I have lost my best spot and dont want to blow out the spot i have in early season. I used to split my time between the two spots. So i have a couple of fringe areas i will hunt some evenings before dark for a Doe and then get serious for a buck around 10/23 thru Nov. Also if Crossbow passes for the entire bow season i will lean on that in the early season evenings in a ground blind I will have setup on a field edge. Its a tiny spot to tuck it in and has to be a small blind as there are no trees - the bow is tough to shoot in there but the xbow is perfect. And i would spend most of the early afternoons that i do hunt in that blind. IF the early sept doe season week gets passed thats in the whitetail plan, then i will hunt that hard for a doe in a spot that I have one stand on a very small seperate piece of property and take a 4 day weekend to fill a tag for an early freezer filler doe. I have also taken off the whole first week of gun which i usually dont take much time off for. Since i am putting in some food plots this year I want to see how the first week of gun pans out with the changes. I will lean heavily on the the time from Oct 23- Nov 14th for a buck with 3 - 4 day weekends in there. and a big difference I will have to see how it goes is putting in kill plots and cutting back/widening and overseeding existing trails. What will be wierd is I may find myself out in the boat mornings of early Oct instead of in a deer stand this year. Which isnt a terrible thing but def different.
