  1. Sightings and cam pics way down here too. End of breeding season, eating to recoup at night , hunkered down in daylight. Find food sources and hunt afternoons when they get hungry and get up just before dark to eat , or in between food and bedding for mornings. Or drive/push out bedding areas to jump them and get them moving. Best way is with more than one person or a couple, but once you blow them out of security they might not be back for a bit, so it's risky. Hunt cold snaps and be near food now. I will still hunt but my best hunting ahead is prob in muzzleloader when I can back to my spot in 6S after gun season and hunt the AG fields in the afternoon.
  2. Hunt #32 11/27 1-dark. 7F CSS stand. Saw nothing. Pulled cam card there and not a single deer on cam. It gets tough from here on out. Rutting activity dwindling, and not much food available here to keep deer. Still a chance but it gets tougher now.
  3. Used to be the day after Thanksgiving was the second busiest after opening day. I heard one distance shot at 6:45 when I was getting ready at truck. And nothing else all day
  4. Hunt #31 11/27 light -11:00. 7F point stand. First time sitting here for me this season. Nothing seen. Pulled some cams and a lot less activity for sure .
  5. Out in 7F . Haven't hunted this stand all season. Corey was in it opening day though. I need to move this stand though next year to the next tree down. Can only see like 40 yards down trail to the right. Put it on the list for next year.
  6. Crazy. By the time you get the second test results you'll be almost over it. Def makes you wonder about the system they have setup for this.
  7. Gotta love trail cams. The big 9 pt we have had on cam the night before opening day of gun putting down a scrape. Then a doe opening day and my buddy Corey walking out 45 min later. (Time is an hour fast) Always about timing. He was in a stand just out of sight of this spot.
  8. It should be fine as long as the hot oil is filled to the top before putting the turkey in.
  9. Be sure the turkey is still frozen when u put it in too
  10. Hunt #30 11/26 Thanksgiving morn. 8:30-11:30 7F Scrapetree. Didn't see anything. New large rub in one spot. Pulled cam near there and the 9 point was there night before gun opener. Doe there 45 minutes before dark on opener and Corey was just a ways away but couldn't see there form point stand. Hard rain this morning passed and now nice out . Something at end of trail 300 yards away when I walked in went running across pretty sure it was a yote.
  11. Rain passed by so I'm out for a couple hours. C'mon one buck, one time LFG!
  12. Thanksgiving day rainbow over the lake. It was starting to fade so didn't have time to walk to the lighthouse for a pic, but took one from road.
  13. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their families. Enjoy the day together all that you can. For those folks under quarantine just remember better days are coming, and hopefully for us all next year it's back to full houses of family and friends.
  14. Was going to hunt but radar has a line of heavy rain on the way. So breakfast it is. Had to take a pic cause I realized I am having the Dr Suess plate today. Hashbrowns with eggs over and ham. Green Tabasco and bionic potato/egg topping. And yes it is green eggs and ham.
  15. Happy birthday! Hope it's a good day. @Bowshotmuzzleloader
  16. Wow! "is this heaven? no its Iowa" - cant be NY. lol . Great buck
  17. and i cant imagine how happy Dad is today ! out there hunting with the daughter and things as they should be. Enjoy, who cares if a deer comes thru.
  18. i was gonna say you buy it and I will bring the beer for all the forum guys , but then i realized with this group it would prob be as much.
  19. A quick trip to the vets and you'll be as happy as Cooper. He seems to like the deal. Someone breaks out the shotguns and decoys I bet your tail wags already anyway.
  20. Give it a try! Decoys in gun always give me pause though. Even if private land you just never know. But on places I hunt it seems to change year to year. Where I hunt in 7F the middle of the property has yielded the most deer for us. But this year way more pics and action on each edge of property to E and W.
  21. been seeing a lot of deer in groups of 7-10 out in the fields in the early am's now. Going out tomorrow morn unless its pouring. Thinking anything steps out over 90 #s is in play. Still have a feeling late muzzle might be a BBD !
