  1. holy %$@# I guess so! a season in a day! awesome cant wait to see pics! Hope you ate your wheaties or you have a tractor for that haul!
  2. i have an ozone bag i use in between hunts and then wash clothes every week in scent free. I hang them outside in a shed when not in use so house smells dont get on them. I have spray i keep in the truck and will use as needed. But I use the spray on a lot of things i dont or cant wash, boots, hats, pack etc. Do i know if it works? Nope . But for one bottle or two a season wortha shot. Like Hock3y24 said pick stand based on wind is prob most important.
  3. Hope its a great day !!! @squirrelwhisperer
  4. I owe my bow buck this year to the grunt call. He was headed out and away in the brush and a grunt stopped him dead in his tracks and he came right out into the field. I have rattled one buck in once and have called in bucks in with a grunt several times. I tend only to use it when i see a buck that is on the way away and i have no other play than to try to bring him over. I dont blind call. Ive had a doe come in once to a bleat but other than that never had any success with those. Gun i tend to use it even less obviously because of an extended range but i still take it and have it ready as a last chance shot. A big one is headed away and no shot its def worth a try .
  5. looks like he is wandering looking for does. And great planning on your part to be scouting a year ahead. Thats great thinking and good ethics to be sure of your shooting before hunting. Bucks will wander a lot this time of year searching for estrus does. Your sure off to as good start. Nice buck!
  6. Congrats @Bionic s Dad!!!! Nice buck. Great story. Glad to hear he got one and was so back into hunting. Great hunting year for the family. Now for some venison sausage in that smoke house!
  7. I am looking at this one. But have all the attachments for my kitchen aid I hate to give up on.https://stxinternational.com/STX-Turboforce-3000-Series-Electric-Meat-Grinder-&-Parts-c25036032
  8. Took mine down. It was already flopped over when I got there. Tough spot for staking it down cause it's swamp and nothing to hold the stakes. Planning on a different spot for next season anyway.
  9. Lol. I am actually going to pull mine in a few minutes. Only use it for bow and xbow since it's close to the barns we don't gun hunt it.
  10. I have one of those too and after quite a few deer I think it's getting tired . I like it cause I also have the sausage stuffer attachment for it. But might have to look for another soon.
  11. Italian scramble. Pepperoni, green olives, Italian spices. No hunting this morn. Going to take down the groundblind in a bit. We don't gun hunt there, too close to things so gonna take it down before the big winds today.
  12. Hunt #25 10/14. 7F groundblind. 3-dark. Just a short sit in the close by groundblind to see if a big doe walks out. So many people shooting all over the area. Either people ramping up for sat or a lot of ducks bit the dust. Might be last bow/xbow sit for the season. Ready to break open that new buck tag on Saturday!
  13. Congrats Jerry! I know u haven't been able to get out much but you still got it done!
  14. Possible last bow/xbow sit. In the groundblind close to barns etc. Seems like every one and their mother is out shooting Tonite. Prob not much gonna happen but nice to be out.
  15. Yeah I wouldn't do it early morn. Lol. I did the last one in my hunting gear shed so it wasn't too bad. On my lunch during the week.
  16. I do the same thing. My muzzleloader when I went to the range misfired two different times. And I thought maybe since I cleaned it and then it sat muzzle up in the gun safe, that the residue oil and solvent might have slid down the barrel into the breach area. Dunno if that's what happened but I always fire one cap before going hunting ahead of time. Haven't had a problem since. And I always have done it at the house. I have a fenced in yard but close neighbors and I just stick the gun out the door and pop it off. It's about the noise of a .22. Maybe if you can do it at home or find a spot within the week before you use it to snap one off to be sure should prob do it.
  17. I don't think it's that defined as woods or fields. During the rut might see them just about anywhere and in places you didn't plan to as they are searching for does. But as swamp said though anywhere between bedding and food where does are is a good bet. This time of year I always like to be on well regularly traveled areas as bucks will often be cruising and just taking the easiest trails in front of them.
  18. Gotta love the action though! Better than staring at the squirrels. Yeah a bleat might be a good idea. They are def locked in to finding does by the sounds of it. Hang in there. Plus they very well might kick that doe back your way.
  19. Hunt #24 10/14. Light -9. 7F wayback stand. Didn't see anything. Just a short hunt this morn. Prob same this afternoon. Just getting out to be out til gun season mostly. And honestly nnot hunting stands where bucks are running. Just looking for a possible doe on the outskirts. Looking to open up a fresh buck tag on Saturday.
  20. Hang in there, the action is close. I once saw 5 bucks in an hour and a half new a hot doe. I dropped a 7 pt and couldn't even get down cause bucks were all over the place for the next hour and a half. Good luck!!!
  21. Good idea. Esp since it's morn you've got daylight. Good luck. Hope you find him..
