  1. Well he isn't that great. Went fishing with him and he made me reel in all the fish never once taking the rod. My arms were sore from catching walleye and does he help out ...nope. and I mean they were his rods on his boat and he did take us out and put us on fish so it's his fault. And some of them were big. He didn't care he just made us catch them all. Then he netted and cleaned them all and didn't let us. Selfish... Lol
  2. I have a large cooler for that reason. Sometimes if a deer is shot in the evening might not be able to get it to a processor, I have a large cooler that I can get a quartered deer into. You can also pack it in a tarp with ice and ice the cavity if you need to.
  3. I've gone out and shot my bow just to test this before. 20 yards and under never made a bit of difference. Once I got to 30+ it seemed to.
  4. Thanks. Yeah last season 61 hunts and never filled a tag. Passed a couple small bucks def a good season this year. This year 18 hunts and 2 down and should've been 3. Hope yours is better too. You sure grinded it like me last year
  5. Will def be doing that. Just put boat away yesterday too damn it. Could've been out perch jerkin. Lol
  6. He's out there now and has all this week off and is getting serious. He usually gets one good shot a year. He just needs to make it count!
  7. I was laughing too. It looked so silly. Wrong damn holiday but a great sight in the dark. Lol
  8. Thanks everyone! Def a better season. And damn it I put the boat away yesterday. Lol. Def some shore casting coming though and will be out a little for a doe til gun season. Now what do I do with all the vac I have coming up? Lol.
  9. No eating the bow tag this season. 6 pointer. Not a monster but happy for sure. Came out about 15 min before sundown about 40 yards in the woods from the cow field behind me. Seen him step in woods and knew it was a buck. He went thru the woods at 40 and no shot I would take. He started to the treeline along the field and was not gonna give me a chance so I grabbed the grunt call and he stopped dead in his tracks He started coming back towards me and then came out on a deer trail out into the field. He was sniffing the ground hard and was standing perfect broadside. I thought at first it was a four point and was gonna pass but he just stood there perfect and for too long and after last season, well I sent it. He went right down to the ground in a pile. I spined him and he was down but not out. So grabbed another arrow to send and just when I did he flopped and I just caught the leg sending it into the beans. So grabbed another arrow and hit by shoulder. Knew he was done then. Sat in the stand for a few til it got dark and the field looked like Xmas since I shoot lighted knocks and had two Ted and one green out there.lol Coyotes started yipping about 500 yards away so I rushed back to the farm to borrow the gator and got him out. Not great pics as a night extraction is always a mess but happy to have a buck down. But it will be weird to be tagless and the rut coming.
  10. Great goodness my goodness. Nice buck Larry. Are you just combining your two bucks into one??? Wow congrats.
  11. Nice buck hope u get a close up eye on him
  12. I don't think so. If I did I didn't save it. Had a few bucks on cam in this spot at night but it was hard to tell if that was it or not.
  13. Hunt #18. 2-5:40? 10/31. 6S big buck stand. Buck down! 6 point and good sized body and neck is huge. Buck came out from edge of cowfield about 40 yards to my right. I see it walking thru the woods and knew it was a buck. He was out of range and heading along to treeline the opposite way without a chance at a shot. Grabbed the grunt call and it stopped him in his tracks. He came back towards me then out into the beanfield and was sniffing the ground hard. I almost passed on the shot as I thought it was a 4 point but he stood there broadside and I even had time to range him at 37.5 yards. And he just stayed there broadside a little too long and decided I wasn't going to eat my buck tag this year. So sent it and he dropped right in his tracks. Spined him. So I grabbed another arrow and wanted to finish him. So just as I sent that he tried to get back up and that's the slice in the leg in pic and arrow went into the dirt and beans. So I sent another and this is what you see sticking out by the shoulder. All this was in just a matter of like 2 minutes and knew he was done. Sat there for a little bit with all the Xmas looking lights in the field cause I had lighted knocks and now 2 red and one green are all out there. Lol. So got down and went to fetch the gator to get him out. Cause the coyotes started yipping just a few hundred yards away. Not a monster buck but very happy to fill the buck tag and the freezer. Bad pics but as most of you know night extraction is a blast. Try to get a couple better in the morn before butchering.
  14. Heard walking in the field behind me but not what I was hoping for.
  15. Seems like a good night for a sneaky sob buck to be about. Dead quiet here, barely a whisp of a breeze. LFG! Haven't seen a buck in the stand yet.
  16. Hunt #17. 10/31 dark -10 am. 7F Scrapetree stand. Didn't see anything. Corey in RSS stand and didn't see anything. A couple good ones on cam just need the right timing.
