Congrats on finding him and taking a great deer. Awesome end to the story. And any deer is one to be proud of NY. But this one is def a dandy.

tough part is if left overnight on a gut shot yotes get on them quick. If its me i prob go in just before dark to look. In the old days i would 100% leave it overnight esp since it will be in the 20's but ive lost a couple to yotes in the last few years.

Looks like Caul fat. @The_Real_TCIII I'm with Grampy. Back out from tracking. Esp since it's light out. Give it a few more hours and start tracking maybe 2 hours before dark. Looks like some sort of innerds for sure so would think gut shot.

This day cant get over soon enough! Then I start a string of some needed time off. Schedule is - 2 days hunt, 2 days work, 5 days hunt, 2 days work, 5 days hunt, 2 days work, 2 days hunt, 1 day work then opening day of gun season weekend and a 3 day week the next for Thanksgiving. Bring it!

the lots around here are about empty too. They had a ton of incentives during the beginning of the Covid so people were buying some and then production was off for sure due to shutdowns etc. Usually the 2021s would be on the lot by now.

grinding it out ! youll get em. I havent seen a buck in stand yet other than one tiny button buck. That usually changes soon and all i see is bucks. Usually small ones but bucks.

well this 50 year old wishes he had the stamina of a 40 year old. lol. If you can afford to retire do it . You wont regret it. I have buddies that kept working and then retired and said- wth was i thinking!? I am working to retire at 60 def by 62. I never take a day off all winter, never took a day to work from home during covid, missed one day for a blood clot for crying out loud. Stupid work ethic. I am takinbg some days off! If i won 2nd place in the lotto i know i could walk away from it all with ease, insurance is the tough part. Hope you get out and hunt that zoo you have there. Dont miss those times they dont come back.

i finally have a few days off coming up. Threatened to lick the floor at Walmart to be quarantined. 8 weeks of vacation on the books. Max sick time, max personal. Hope you get out there Jerry all those hours just usually add up to time lost.

plus they ride like a lumber wagon. Unless your hauling heavy stuff 150 is plenty of power. And rides wayyyyyy smoother. All are about the same. Chevy, Dodge, Ford, best to drive each and see what she likes best. I have a new 150 and i like it but nothing wrong with the others either. Oh and stay away from diesel- no advantage to a diesel anymore and the DEF is a PITA.

One season but also 100,000 miles on those there. You do some serious foot travel.

ive shot plenty of deer with a 12 G and have yet to notice the kick even once. Just like you dont notice the noise when you shoot at a deer. Now if i was duck hunting and shooting a lot i can see it. How many times are you guys shooting the 12 at a deer? lol I find mine kicks no more than the 30-06. Never really minded it. 3-3.5 turkey loads on the other hand - ouch. I am a beefy guy so maybe i just dont notice it as much. a lot of the places i deer hunt i just like the 12g. No shots over 125 mostly and it makes big holes and deer go boom so i still use it among a couple of rifles as well. We usually have a shotgun day on the lease for luck!

Not being able to hunt and have to work 10-11 hour days and seeing pics like this are a killer. Weekends never get here fast enough. I have this guy going by this camera at least once a day - usually just before light and just after dark . I makes me hate working more than usual.

check fluid tranny fluid level, then see if it smells burnt. Anything from there is prob diagnostic. Could be internal tranny issue, could be something like a speed sensor. But doesnt sound good. Engine or tranny light flashing?

thats a monster biz. And youve seen him once on the hoof. thats a good sign, esp when they get a little dumber and rutty. PB buck for sure
