Academy Assemble!

I have really enjoyed Jim Shockeys uncharted this season. The Yukon version. It's on the outdoor channel on Mondays. It shows different guides out with hunters and the good and the bad. A lot of guys that have saved up for this dream trip. Shows the guides that struck out as well as the successful ones. And all that goes into getting the camps and float planes set up. Moose, caribou, grizzly, wolves. The wolves are amazing. Tonites show they were overlooking a valley with wolves on each side of it. Great show.

I haven't worn a harness when putting them up but I never put my feet above a strap. So by the time I get to the top I have 5 straps on it. It might look ridiculous but makes me feel better.

How often do you check your Trail Cams?
Robhuntandfish replied to Northcountryman's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I don't put my cams next to my stands if I can, usually at least 150 yards away. I just want to see what's in the area. Then I check them once a month and then once season opens as I hunt near them. I try to put them in places I will walk in to my stands so I'm not out wandering just for those. But I've also hunted the same areas for many seasons. If scouting new ground it's a different story. As i want to see what's in area and where deer are moving the most before setting up a stand. -
Pork steaks in baby Ray's sweet and spicy BBQ, salt taters and corn.

I know u have been talking about moving . Maybe you can find everything together at the new house with some hunting land to boot. Or maybe a close by lease.
-
Sorry to hear but hopefully onto some new dirt for you and maybe another camp down the line soon. I know the feeling, I used to have a family camp on Lewis county. But it was also a burden as it was two places to take care of etc. But I sure do miss the good times there with family.

If the DEC had anything to do with the boon of eyes in the lake now they sure did something right. Just hope they aren't doing something just to do something or like Otto said based on one public questionnaire. But at least I won't have to be jealous of Erie's limits anymore.

They were lined up like a buck train. Lol. Nice spot. It's gotta feel good to sit in a.stand and watch that.
-
Wow. Nice bunch o bucks!

Science over opinion.....that makes way too much common sense and doesn't fit into 2020 thinking at all. Lol. Great point! Cornell does a lot of studies on the lake so use the data. Either way I guess it's a good problem to have at least for now. It will be interesting to see if it changes in the spring.
-
A lot are saying that they can change it back if they need to but often by then it is too late. I am torn as a five fish limit is a great day and cert could've done that a few times this year, but hope it stays the fishery it is now cause it's better than ever. The bass population is certainly down and panfish seem about the same.
-
not sure if i like it or not. But looks like a very possible change from 3 walleye to 5 for a limit. I have the luxury of being right on the lake and being able to go often so i like the 3 fish limit and because the lake is so stacked it seems to have worked and hate to see it change. But will see if they change it for next season. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/outdoors/2020/08/oneida-lake-walleye-possession-limit-should-be-changed-to-5-per-day-dec-angler-survey.html?fbclid=IwAR29G4UwDG_eFqbHJ1peMWBfxTqrVArmuz0wVyrqwmhat5zWQW0vlIiGK7o

Hoping you and Jerkman catch some deers!

Well we are glad you're around to balance things out as a deer killing, bourbon drinking, chicken wing deep frying, man among men in that SE region! Think your gonna have to do some heavy lifting in the deer contest.
-
lol and he complains about Crappie posting bourbon on the beer thread and then follows it up with a cucumber lemon whatever that is.. (?) lol. Please turn in your man card at the front desk. Or at least go home and eat a pound of bacon to balance this out. Only been married for a few hours and its already in the purse.......
