    hi

theres a few guys on here that didnt start hunting til after middle age and post some great stories and pics of the deer they have gotten. Maybe lookup the field to fork program or QDMA or the local club like Rob said. Each journey begins with the first step. and welcome in.
  3. Had 2 of those in lime in my fridge for over a year that someone brought over. Drain poured them . I knew why they left them.
  4. I fished sat and sun and it annoys me I haven't fished in two days. Get out there guys.
  5. Hunt wed and if its dead - then Fish Thursday!
  6. My Dad always had bread and butter when we had fish. He liked it but it was also in case of a fishbone.
  7. i never wore a mask all weekend - it was great . Went fishing, turkey hunting and didnt go inside any business all weekend just cause
  8. lots of big pike waters in NY . But like anything else they ebb and flow. Gotta hit the spots that have the huge pike while they have them. Big ones take a long time to grow and it seems it only lasts a while on any water. Then its a lot of hammer handles for a while. Best pike bite ive ever had was on a buzzbait he came full out of the water and did a complete flip - 40" in the barge canal. This one in pic is my biggest NY pike - dont really fish for them anymore these days. But the Dacks have several good pike lakes that get overlooked. (this is the only big un i ever kept - had it mounted. Plenty of perch and panfish around for fish fry)
  9. I think what gets me is the Caribou Target is so big it looks closer.
  10. One spot I hunted every morn they would gobble on the roost then walk away onto private land. I killed two gobblers there though. One I called a lot and must've pissed off the hens cause two of them came out right to my decoy with the gobbler in tow. And the second was later in the season and he again went the other way but about 9:30 came back. Maybe later in the morn after they have been with those roost hens the gobbler might be looking for some strange.
  11. Well that sucks, walleye is the best Tilapia would work well too or whiting. Can also make a crab salad or a cheesy crab dip.
  12. I have made stuffed walleye fillets with it and that was good with a hollandaise sauce. But I actually like it best sauteed in butter then put on toasted ciabata bread.
  13. Cassity Hollow fish and game in oriskany falls has a decent one too. They are like 10 minutes from there. I shot that one a few times. I ALWAYS screw up the Caribou. Lol. I think it's closer than it is.
  14. Def sounds like your on them. Every time you've been out. Do they seem to go the same way everytime after being in roost? Maybe setup more on that area ....and maybe they are just henned up and follow the hens instead of your calls. Happens to even the pro callers. (Which I am not).
  15. Never heard of that. Might have to give it a go.
  16. Short turkey memorial day hunt. Storm coming in so had to bail out after an hour and 45 min. No gobbles, no hens. If I go again will try one of the plowed fields as grass is past knees now.
  17. Chased off the turkey hunt by thunderstorms so breakfast it is. Omelette with green olives, pepperoni, italian spices and mozz and provolone cheese.
  18. Def time to go now. No gobbles. If I get out again gonna try a different field. Grass is past knees now here.
  19. C'mon birds. Rain and lightning coming off Ontario. I got 1/2 hour before dashing to truck. Agressive calling this morn.
  20. I'm out. Lucky if I getan hour light before it pours. But try I will
