  6. better spray paint yourself blaze orange for safety
  7. Thinking I mostly got lucky. Bought s box of federal mag shok turkey loads 3" #5s. Patterned them when I got my shotgun new and they worked well. Farthest I have shot a turkey though is 30 yards. But would feel pretty good under 50. Those tss loads seem pretty amazing. The turkey I got at 8 yards this year I got a lot of his chest. Think the wad even hit him. Blew off a ton of feathers and most of the small beard he had. And he also had shot thru the neck. Is there a general turkey load you would recommend to cover most conditions? I really haven't tinkered with any. I know having a new shotgun and turkey choke has sure helped me. Missed a few with the old shotgun I had. But this one so far has been money.
  8. Test run with the boat. Dropped a line out for a couple of minutes while fooling with stuff to make sure it all works. Successful test run and didn't even get skunked.
  9. if you want it to be creamy can add sour cream or creme fraiche, or an easy way is to use potato flakes to thicken and of course a flour roux will also work. Would prob all end up like a stick to your ribs gravy
  10. Seems like I make them different every time. But these I took a large jar of peppercini and dumped that in a pan and added 2 cups white vinegar, 1 cup water, then peppercorns, Weber's garlic and herb seasoning. Brought to a boil. I think my favorite eggs though are Amish mustard eggs and those will be next.
  11. Venison jalapeno sausage, periogies, onions and peppers. As seen on here by bionic...except I didn't have sour cream and added peppers and onions.
  12. Lunch/snack smoked venison sausage pickeled eggs and peppercini
  13. Only turkey I saw today... Well remnants of a turkey hen. Looks like a coyote had a good meal
  14. Two raccoons bopping thru the brush kinda playing/ chasing each other. Think that means a move
  15. Out on lease. Not a lot of turkey out here but once in a while get them on cam. So far today is not that once. Haven't seen or heard a thing.
  16. 2nd time out for the season had a Jake at 50 yards but didn't seal the deal. Buddy Ed got one and xBIL got one today.
  17. Dropped a turkey opening day. 18 pounds, 3" beard, 1/2 spurs. First ever opening day. Belly crawled to the edge of a field in the rain to make it happen!
  18. Spinach, pepperoni and cheddar omelette, sage venison sausage. Good after hunting breakfast
  19. And the Tom's are flopping. .... My ex BIL that was hunting across the road dropped one! Saw his truck out there but he was still hunting when I left.
  20. Bumped a Jake on the way out. A big Tom in the field across the Rd that I don't have permission for, but maybe next time he will be on this side. But.....best of all my Buddy Ed dropped one. He tags one or two every year. He's a stone cold turkey killer and is retired and relentless!
