  1. Tell me that wouldn't make you pucker a little walking out from the stand every evening in the dark!
  2. yes you are ..... do you have a rifle? lol So far i havent missed the target and my "one" that counts has been good. But have def had a couple off kilter. Last night i changed my D loop - its too close to season to be doing stuff like that but it was fraying. So i shot on my lunch. and was pretty much still set . I did raise my site just a hair.... but it was mostly the same - last two at 40.
  3. Have very rarely ever needed a follow up shot and have passed a lot of shots if it wasn't right anyway. Gonna go to the range this weekend as I haven't shot it in a while. Then go from there. But just love the feel and fit of that gun. And last I shot it it was real accurate. And I just don't ever hunt the actual muzzle season much anymore. Esp since bow opens early , so I don't go north for early muzzle either. Thanks all !
  4. My favorite on the pizza stone is actually venison sausage bread with shrooms and swiss - mmmm good I have even had a desert pizza made on one - was also pretty good.
  5. oh for crying out loud Moog --- its Oct 1! which is 12 days or 288 hours or 17,280 minutes or 1,036,800 seconds! Geeze - i will try to update this everytime it changes!
  6. Ive been considering for the gun season this year with going just muzzleloader. Its the gun that just feels the best in my hands, fits the best and it is spot on dead balls accurratte at 100 yards. I have never taken a deer with it cause i hunt very little in the late muzzle season, cause well its cold, have already hunted for two months and usually have something in the freezer by then. Anyone here hunt muzzle all gun season? How long do you go without shooting it between hunts? any issues with missfires over the long season ? If i have 2 or more deer in freezer from bow I will prob not hesitate. But if i am deerless going into gun, i might just stay with something with a back up shot! Cause im not above missing the first shot and not one to be shy about shooting two deer either if i had the chance. I have a Thompson Center Impact .50 cal. also it is dead on at 100, might be my best gun to use if all were one shot. I shoot 100 grains - 2 pellets of 777. Have been considering trying 150 grains for a little more umph! But would have to get out soon to try that and see if it hurts the accurracy any.
  7. used to spend a LOT of time at Jacque Cartier state park. There was a store i think was in Hammond - "Bobs" he had some nice muskies on the wall , and had a neat lure selection. Used to go there and BS with him a lot. Many years ago. My buddy bought the worst lure ive ever seen there - it was a purple rubber ball of what looked like fish eggs with a rubber skirt and a spinner on the back. lol. He bought it cause it was so awful - maybe an ocean lure. I told him if he ever catches a fish on it I will quit fishing. So of course he brought it EVERYTIME we fished and tried it for a few minutes. Then like 10 years later in the dacks he caught a bass on it in the weeds. SO i quit fishing ---- for 10 minutes ! lol. He still has it hanging on his wall. There was some good fishing on the river then - big walleyes for sure.
  8. I do the same. I hunt the fringes and field edges mostly early season for a freezer doe, then work back late in Oct to areas where there seems to be more buck action. But ya never know.....
  9. I've also made the pizza right on the stone without heating it first and just had the oven heated up. Never had much of a problem with it cooking that way either. You'll have to experiment a bit. Which is a good excuse to make pizza.
  10. What helmet said. A little cornmeal works good , but I usually forget it and just do it quick. Lol. I would stick with the 475 esp if pizza isn't real thin so you don't burn toppings and not have the middle cook. And you can always use the stone to cut veges on too! I wouldn't season it like cast iron but don't use any soap on it , usually can just wipe it down or use a plastic scraper and very little or no water. The more you use it the easier it is to clean and doesn't stick.
  11. Ex wife used to do pampered chef parties. So I have a pizza stone from them. No better way to cook one. I also make sausage bread, chicken broccoli braid,. Makes a nice crisp to it. My tip is to have a set of heavy potholders. It gets and stays hot. And the more u season and use it the better it gets.
  12. Went out and shot, it's dead on but realized I need to change my D loop. It's frayed. Nothing like having to make changes right before season. So changed that over tonite then have to shoot it tomorrow to check it out. Hopefully lined everything back up right.
  13. He went from an 8 to a 9 last year. So he was at least still on the incline. We got pics of him at scrape locations only. So think he's still a little active. Or at least hoping. He's def the biggest deer ive seen body wise. But usually the properties I hunt might have one real good one, lots of gun hunters around us on every side. Not too many bow hunters though.
  14. The neighbor properties all hunt as well, he must have a great spot to nap during the day. And I'm betting it's probably downwind and within 100 yards of one of my stands. Lol Where we hunt it is thick and am guessing he has prob let me walk by him a time or two. Need a real sexy doe to lure him out in the sunshine one time. Smart ole boy.
  15. You could make this a show on the outdoor channel and I would watch it! Love these posts. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Lol. Not a damn one. That's why we nicknamed him the "Dark Knight" Last year I had deer in the freezer early and hunted just for this big boy and one other 9 point on another property. Tried rattling during the rut, hoping to bring him out once. No way. I passed a nice 7 point and got close twice to the 9 on the other property but have never seen this boy on the hoof. And probably never will but I like knowing he's around.
  17. this will be my third year chasing him if he is still around. So i was thinking he s a 5.5 this year.
  18. this was him 2016 no pics yet for 2018 but hoping!
  19. Couldn't agree more with Phade above here. Was trying to figure out how to draw on your map! Lol. Not computer savvy for sure. But stand 4 moved in that corner looks like a winner. And I would take a wild shot on the Northeast corner about 1/4 of the way down that east side of field to matchup with the little field on the east side. looks like an edge for them to follow from one field to the other. And hunt it for a South wind. If you aren't planning to move stands. I would say a west wind isn't terrible for any of them but where deer come out into field from a bedding area is def key. Figure that out then play the wind accordingly. Pm be downwind of the bedding area. Am might be hard to get to 2,3 without getting busted in the am. Esp early season if still in summer feeding patterns.
  20. This isn't helping you.....lol. https://wpcalc.com/en/enhuman-years-conversion/
