What is there to hunt near las vegas ?
Robhuntandfish replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
You misspelled "strippers". ....your welcome. -
have a scrape dripper in this tree

Best of luck to your family as well WNY - sounds like a tough time -

Also check out an easy app to use like Huntstand. My buddy has a tough time with wind direction and he uses it and i also use it. You put inn markers where your stands are , then press the wind then hit the "huntzone" and it will show in red where your bad wind is and where it is green is good wind. It is just a tool that helps a bit to decide where to hunt.

all would depend on where bedding areas are, where your expecting deer to come from, what trails etc. Wherever yo expect or see them usually coming from and are expecting to shoot you want that wind advantage in your face if possible .

Got your opening day spot picked out yet?
Robhuntandfish replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Bow Hunting

never seen landscapers wear hats like those..... but nice wood chipper! There is some serious mulch there for the yard!

Amazing sunset on Oneida tonite. Had to walk out back and snap a couple of pics. Best sunsets are right before a front coming in.

directions said to let it run on high for 3 hours and last 45 minutes put in chips and run smoke. Did that and it seemed to work out fine. My shed electric didnt like the smoker though and kicked off the breaker - so i ran it from a house plug in. all was good Then tried out some venison jalapeño sausage in it Sunday....damn good.

I have tried it a few times too without any luck for those same issues. Last year was the straw for it as we went in late Sept and it was 93 degrees. Glad we had some fishing planned and it was even too hot for that except early in the morn. Had a good time hanging out with some buddies but bear hunting wasn't worth the effort. This year they are coming out the last weekend of Sept and we are just gonna fish for the weekend , cook out and have a beer.

Awesome that you can help them out with some land to hunt! Hope they run into him. And good luck on the monster you must be after, cause round here that's stomper!

lets hope he poses for a few pics with you in it too! good luck!

2 weeks from today folks (even sooner for the Northern end) . Got your tree or stand picked out for the opener? I have my choices setup for a west or east wind. Because i am damn ready ! I have these images across my screen saver all day! first two - east wind pm/am choices , next two west wind pm/am choices. Starting off in some early Doe spots on field edges - try to get a nanny for the freezer early. No big buck pics yet so am gonna concentrate on some early meat and see what progresses. Usually early season pm's are best for me on these field edges.

thats a cool memory right there. I remember as a kid sending mepps squirrel tails and getting back like a .25 a piece for them or something like that. That was my first hunting.....

Very sorry to hear this. Condolences to you and your family.

My advice would be to stay away from diesel. Since 2009 with the new low sulphur diesel fuel and the addition of DEF they are more expensive to maintain, and less reliable. Gas engines these days are more reliable than ever. School districts are running from diesels for buses as much as possible and manufacturers are revamping everything the same way.

Over 18 years how many times did u have to change strings. That's pretty awesome to have one with that length of time in use. I honestly didn't know Matthews has been around that long. Seems they only got real popular or notoriety in last few years. Neat to see they always had the wooden grips. Very cool. And obviously very dependable.

Tried out new smoker. Smoked some venison jalapeño sausage, came out great. Add in some homeade Amish mustard pickled eggs , horseradish mustard and a cold one. Yum.

Show us your bow setup. Always interesting to see what kind of rests people use, types of bows, setup ideas. I am betting most people shoot with a biscuit..., Saw a pic Moog posted of his trad bow and it's a piece of artwork. Mine is cert not artwork but I do like it and it's a proven killer. Bear attitude, set at 64lbs, 29" draw, biscuit, 3 pin sight, not many frills but it works.
