  1. def a lot of fun. I hook them in Oneida - guy just broke the state record recently. have seen some huge ones. .... Always hope its a monster walleye - but fun to catch no matter! as long as the rods bending!
  2. next time blow those guys away with those Gulps on a dropshot!
  3. im hoping for a good killing frost soon!
  4. that all depends on the water. Often in summer panfish in ponds will get the pepper spots, people say they are still edible but i will pass. As well as larger fish at times. But anything like that will depend on the body of water i would think and the parasites in it. But yeah if I ever see anything like that my fishing is done for a bit. and not eating sheepshead either. Not that hungry.
  5. I don't care for crappie only because they really have to be big to get much of any meat off them but they are tasty. I don't like cleaning sunfish as they are a bit tougher. Perch are the best of the panfish I think. Taste great, easy to clean and they can have some good meat on them if decent sized
  6. one year i got stuck in a parade coming back from fishing. Forgot about it and was waiting in intersection for the parade to pass. Guy stops in a convertable and waves me out so i thought that was it ... nope i was in the parade with the boat. lol people are waving etc. We had a good fishing day but prob didnt need a parade! lol Bet there were lots of people wondering whey a boat was in the parade??? Actually now that i think about it been in two parades with the boat- lol One in Jefferson county and one in Oneida co.
  7. I start getting mine out first weekend in August. I already know where i am putting my stands for the most part and having hunted the same areas for a while know where to start. And I am not hunting areas larger than 120 acres so my setups are limited. But i like to see if any resident big boys around. I usually wait til Aug 1 for developed horns to see what we got. And i then leave them out til season starts and pull them the first day in to see what I got. Dont like going in/out too much before season. So when does the camming get serious for you? Do you place and go in every couple of weeks? Use them more to pattern or for inventory? Its tough to wait til season - sometimes I get them two weeks before in some spots - go in midday just cause its like xmas to check them. I used to never leave them more than 2 weeks cause i wanted to see what was on them , but got more patient and have decided disturbing the area less is better for me.
  8. All the panfish are generally good table fare. Just need a few to make a meal
  9. That's some monster eyes! Great 4th my man.
  10. Getting there. First day out with 3 rods going. Had some action so we were doing something right. Not on your level yet, learning curve with the new rigs. Thanks again for all the help and advice.
  11. Great road trip song for the 4th. Waylon's son.
  12. Some fishing this morn. Hit a spot where we doubled up with eyes. Lost one and other was short by 1/4 inch. Was a tough day but it has been 95 all week. Still a good day fishing with a buddy on the 4th.

  16. went on a charter in Maine and the capt was telling us how a whale breached right under them. Everyone was ok but scared them for sure, def moved the whole boat. Just an amazing trip for you and your buddies. Thats one you''ll always remember. great photos

  18. go get em Jay! Nice rig . Looks like a great day to be on the water. Drop shot smallies? Jigging? tubes? Might even get a topwater bite today. Have fun
  19. i have used it but i am so used to mono that i stick to that. The advantages are strength and increased feel. Fishing buddy Corey uses it for drifting and says he can feel the hits better. Have to be a bit careful setting the hook as there is no stretch or you will just yank it away. It is a Pita if you get snagged but if drifitng he uses a leader that will break. Just like post about from ncountry if flipping the grass with a worm or a frog you can rake em out of the slop. Dont need a special reel to use it but we have always used backing for it with mono, even just a little cause it holds the spool better and the first few yards of line you arent really ever gonna use. like i said i have tried it. I dont really prefer it only because i am used to mono and rigs are all setup with mono. But wiht braid you can use line that is 30lb strong with the same diameter as 8. I think the best application is for bass fishing the junk, weeds , lilly pads etc. and yes def point the rod at it if you try to break it, otherwise your rod will do the breaking.
  20. Stuff mini sweet peppers with sausage and cheese. Then 5 minutes on a grill rack and good to go. Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese , wrapped in bacon and grilled, Mushrooms stuffed with spinach dip and grilled. Salami and a green olive stuffed in a mini sweet pepper Onion bombs - burger in a meatball size, wrap with half cut onions to form a shell around it, wrap in bacon and cook. Glaze with BBQ sauce. Jell-O shots. Can get these peppers at Walmart or about anywhere and lots of options for apps. And they look purty.
