  1. I'm in Buffalo a couple times a month for busines. If I can time it right, I try to hit Pita Gourmet or now since it opened, La Divna on my way into or out of town for lunch.
  2. Is that the old Quaker Steak n Lube next to La Divina Dos on Transit? La Divina rocks. My next favorite quick eat on Transit is Pita Gourmet.
  3. Tag soup for me. As usual, no doe permits where I hunt (only hunt gun) but could have easily taken multiple doe. Passed on a nice 4 pt (twice) and several spikes. Passed on an iffy 40 yard shot through tree limbs on the largest buck I have ever seen alive in the woods. Opportunities were there, I just couldn't legally or ethically take advantage of them so I can't say the season was a disappointment.
  4. Bought mine 26 years ago when I was 17. It has served me well. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah that's why i have left it there. Tree is only about 5 yards away. Deer typically come down the ravine from my left and walk right out in front of me. Wrong wind and a wise old mature buck today. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Had the largest buck I have ever seen alive in the woods at 40 yards straight down wind but I couldn't get a shot through the tangle of dead branches leaning against the left side of the tree in the middle of the pic. He had to walk about 10 more yards to the right side of the tree into a shooting lane but winded me. He did the stiff legged walk away and back up the hill from where he came. Needless to say the tangle of dead branches is no longer leaning against that tree. It was a 40 yard chip shot if I had taken them down like I was thinking of doing last weekend. Oh well. 7. Congrats to the two young hunters! They will never forget this day.
  8. My dad has a 788 carbine in .308. You are right about the bark! Accurate as hell. Will shoot 1" all day long.

    ticks

Ticks have been real bad in 4C the last few years. I would have them crawling on me while sitting in my blind all the time. I treated all of my hunting clothes with Sawyers this year and have not seen one tick. Don't know if it is coincidence or the population is down this year. Haven't gotten a deer yet this year but the deer we've taken the last few years have been loaded with them.
  10. So I see comments on here about peeing off tree stands and peeing in scrapes. This is something that I would never think of doing. I can't imagine that human urine is even close in scent to deer urine and would definitely alert them. When I have to pee, I walk 30 to 40 yards up behind my stand to go and I still feel like I could be compromising my hunt. My days of sitting 8 hours without taking a leak are behind me. I'm contemplating a pee jug. Am I being paranoid? For the people who pee care free, what is your actual experience?
  11. Breezy sunny and 45 here in 4C. Nothing moving. Only hunting to noon. Today is Second Thanksgiving with my parents and the in-laws coming to our house. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. I'm not a bourbon or whiskey connisseur but i do like it. Evan Williams neat with a beer chaser. If I'm feeling a little higher class, Makers Mark.
  13. I just got one of these claw rifle slings for a new rifle. I like it. Grips really well to shoulder. https://www.fieldandstreamshop.com/p/quake-the-claw-max-4-rifle-sling-15qinuthclwmx4xxxgua/15qinuthclwmx4xxxgua?color=Black
  14. I used one of these for showering when I had a toe to knee cast on leg for a broken ankle. I tried the garbage bag and duct tape but it still let water in. This worked great, not a drop of water. https://www.amazon.com/Duro-Med-Cover-Waterproof-Protector-Inches/dp/B000FHDV68/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1511119025&sr=8-4&keywords=leg+cast+cover
  15. Had 6 doe, 2 spikes and a 4 point all within 15 yards of my blind. The 4 point might not get another pass if I see him towards end of the season.
  16. 6 doe, 2 spikes and a respectable 4 point all within 15 yards of my blind today in 4c. All three bucks were harassing doe. View from the blind looking down into a ravine. Picture makes it look flat but I am about 25 feet above the floor about 20 yards out in front of me. Forecast does not look good for tomorrow with 20-30mph out of northwest with 40-50mph gusts. omorrow is not looking great with 20-30mph out of northwest with 40-50 gusts.
  17. Chilly and calm here in 4c. One small spike so far. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. Good luck. Hope Judy gets well soon
  19. After 20 years carrying my mossy 500 12ga I'll be carrying a Ruger American in 7-08 this year
  20. House cat? Tail looks skinny for a bobcat. Second look, kinda looks like a monkey bending over. .
