  1. Yup. Heldebergs, Schoharie Valley and Catskills got hammered. Channel10 just said there could be some 40 inch totals. Good luck to you guys.
  2. Our forecast was for 1-3 inches of snow turning to rain. We have over a foot and still snowing. Haven't had much wind though. Could be worse. About 10 miles as the crow flies to the west, just up in elevation a little bit they are reporting over 2 feet.
  3. Not dangerous but the most scared I have ever been on the water. I was trolling for trout in the middle of Upper Saranac Lake. I heard an airplane but didn't think much of it as that is not unusual until two fighter jets went right over me flying down the lake! I damn near jumped out of the boat! It felt like they were only a couple hundred feet off the water but I'm sure they were higher. It was amazing how they weren't very loud until they passed over me and then it was like an explosion. This was back in the early nineties when Plattsburgh AFB was still in operation.
  4. I don't have much experience on the western side of the ADK's but several state campgrounds that I have been going to my entire life are: Paradox Lake (eastern near Ticonderoga), Moffit's Beach (central on Sacandaga Lake in Speculator), Fish Creek Ponds (access to Upper Saranac Lake). Of these Paradox and Moffit's are a little more spread out and wooded. Moffit's has some nice water sites, Paradox does not. Fish Creek all sites are on the water but tend to be right on top of each other - access to Upper Saranac is a plus. My personal favorite is Paradox but it might be a little far for you being on the eastern side of the ADK's. Oh, and if you decide on a state campground, you should make your reservations ASAP! Holiday weekends fill up fast!
  5. Last night pan seared flounder with lemon butter sauce and a spinach and mixed green salad with fresh grated parm reg. Tonight pan fried pork chops, baked sweet potato wedges and spinach salad. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. You can get all of those over air, with an antenna and a digital tv for free.
  7. 42 North Asylum Porter with a side of Beam. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. Taco Sunday. From scratch enchiladas and tacos. A little sloppy on the presentation but they tasted great! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. Good but not great. For 20 bucks for a 4 pack of pounders, I was expecting great. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. Not sure if it was the cheapest but during my college days in Utica you could get Saranac 6 packs for $2.99 at Price Chopper. I think they had a special deal with the brewery being right there.
  11. Daughter's school district is closed. She's spending the day with Grandma and Grandpa. Worst part of the storm is supposed to be during the evening commute. Hoping they might send us home a little early today.
  12. Sodfather's post on fishing tackle got me thinking about the old fishing shows that were on in the 80's. When I was a kid I could spend a whole afternoon watching Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance, Roland Martin, etc. I still remember all the words to Jimmy Houston's show music. Now that the Outdoor Network is off TIme Warner/Spectrum I don't even know what shows are out there now. Anyone have any suggestions? Any fishing shows on YouTube or other streaming services?
  13. For bass fishing with senkos, I like a medium fast action spinning rod, MItchell 300 reel and Green Trilene XT in 8 or 10 pound test.
  14. You must have a had a serious case of bass thumb!
  15. I do a lot of bass fishing in the Adirondacks. You can't beat a senko rigged weedless with a 2/O worm hook. I have hundreds of dollars of other lures I've accumulated over the last three decades and they hardly get used over the senkos. I find that any of the dark colors work best. Tip - the bass pro brand knockoffs are just as good as the yamamoto brand originals and a lot less expensive.

  17. Super Bowl apps. Fruit salad and veggies, individual nachos, taco dip and onion dip. Chicken and steak phillies and pulled pork sliders on deck. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. lol. I knew that would be at least one response......didn't think it would come so quickly!
  19. Never crow hunted before. Seems like fun. Maybe a dumb question - what do you do with the dead birds?
  20. Chips and dip, cheese and crackers and veggies, nachos, mini hot dogs with homemade meat sauce, chesesteaks, pulled pork, plenty of beer and of course something sweet for desert.
  21. Great to hear your son is doing better. Here''s to a speed recovery!
  22. Couple hotel beers before heading out for dinner. Thanks Wegmans. The other 10 will be coming home with me for Super Bowl consumption. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. Oh man. I'd be in trouble if I worked a minute from that place! I'll have to try the chorizo next time! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
