My youngest shot the biggest buck of his life in the rain. My oldest shot his 8 pointer in the rain. My first 8 pointer was shot in the rain. Not to mention the best kept secret is going on right now, breeding. You bet we're out there. We work with the weather we're dealt, LOL.

I started today. Shooting nice groups with the muzzleloader at 150 yards. Hunted with it tonight. Will have it in hand, rest of the season.

The governor signed the S.A.F.E. act into law, because they said guns were to blame. Well, what the hell are they going to do about the drug abuse? Nobody gives a rats ass about that! ( Excuse my french)

I seen a nice buck on Maple Rd. the other night. He was heading towards Clarence, LOL.

Don't worry, officials will bring in sharp shooters to thin those deer. Birth control is another option. Opps, that didn't work the last time, LOL.

Bumped deer heading in. The crunching of the frozen ground was so loud, I might as well been banging pans together. Kind of excited today. Shooting and rechecking my muzzleloader for the first hunt tonight. Good luck all, and watch for those doe, with the big boys, which are still breeding.

Yes it was grow. Kinda reminded me of October 1st opener, just a little cooler. Not near the action of yesterday for me, but still a great sit to look around to notice all that is great. thunnus, this happened in 8G. Now is the third phase of the breeding season here which goes on typically till around the 10th. This is the time when we have harvested the best bucks. It's not about the number of buck now, it'sthe quality.

Loose Powder to Pellet Ratio
landtracdeerhunter replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Muzzleloaders
From the information gathered online, a 50 grain pellet weighs 32 grains by weight. It can vary by 2 to 4 grains depending on how many chips the pellet has in it. So 32 gains of loose powder is equal to a 50 grain pellet ? How does a person find the difference by volume? Does a 50 grain pellet equal 50 grains of loose powder, by volume? -
Live By Roadside: On my way to town, i saw the same buck chasing a big doe. She was running along an uncut corn field, then diving into the cross rows. He headed to the headland running with the rows. I've seen a lot of deer action in my life , but the same buck 2 times within 3 hours, a few miles away, is a first for me.

Had a big buck come running in from a wide open alfalfa field. He was moving a good clip and I had no chance to line up on him. I though their was movement in a thicker spot in the woods, but just a flash. He definitely heading to that area. One of the biggest bodied deer I 've seen since 2000. Rack was nice, about 140 ish.

Yes and a cold east breeze here. Deer seem to be feeding later, so we're mixing it up. Coin toss in the air showed a woods sit. This time of year, I think that's what it takes, sometimes.

Wow, that northwest wind was cold. Whipped for a good long time before dying down just after 5. Then the deer started showing. I sat and watched as deer crossed in front of me within bow range.

Someone almost shot a deer in the neck, just grazing the lower portion. The hide is hanging from the top.

I just saw this from my son yesterday. And I thought they only grew potatoes, LOL.

Don't know where your located, but their breeding again, on this side of the state. Now the time to catch them off guard. We shoot some really nice bucks from now right into about December 8. Look for the signs. Fresh rubs and scrapes were showing up again last weekend.

Paula, it reduces the gamey taste. Wild rabbits can also have a flavor, what they have eaten in their diet . Vinegar water can help with this.

This was my grand mammys recipe. She would add various veggies; various spices to taste, but this is the basic recipe. 2- med. size rabbits 1- onion 3 med size potato ( cut as you like) 1 can green beans 1 can of pea 4 med carrots ( cut as you like) 1 cup mushroom 1 tbsp worchestershire sauce 2 tbsp salt 1 tbsp pepper crust; 1 1/2 cup flour 3/4 cup butter 5-6 tbsp milk I soak my rabbit meat in vinegar water over night. Rinse well. Place rabbit in a stew pan, salt and cover with water. Cook until tender. Cool, then remove from the bone. (I have also crook pot my rabbit meat till tender) In a skillet, melt butter. Add carrots, onion, and potatoes until tender, med high heat. Add beans, peas, mushroom to the mixture. Cook until tender. Add rabbit. Add worchestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Add other spices as you like.Mix all together. Take some of the rabbit water stock, adding corn starch to make a gravy. Meat crust. Mix 1 1/2 cups flour with 3/4 cup melted butter. I use my floured hands to mix the crust mixture. Cut in milk, one tbsp at a time until slightly moist. Work dough into a ball, then divide in half. Roll out dough large enough to fit a 9 " pie plate. I use a butter- flour coated pyrex dish. Add crust to the dish forming like you would a apple pie. Add the mixture to the dish. Mix the gravy with the mixture. Roll out other half of dough large enough to cover dish. Crimp the upper and lower part of the crust together. Form ridges around the pie plate. Fork a few holes in the upper crust. Bake in a 350 degree oven until crust is golden brown. We serve with a tossed salad.

Ulster hunter bags record-class deer
landtracdeerhunter replied to oblivitar's topic in Deer Hunting
Congrats to the hunter. It's to bad he didn't take that little extra effort to poke the tongue back in his mouth, for a better looking pic.. Beautiful buck though, non the same.
