  1. I use wood stain in the deep groves of the stag knife handles. I have to use a very light stain to obtain the results I want. I did find out that bone will stain differently, just like woods do.
  2. Congrats! Ton of credit to you harvesting him with a bow and arrow. Quite an accomplishment.
  3. Serious business there. Hope for a speedy recovery. Your health is far more important than deer hunting.
  4. Got into the stand. Lightning flashing, raining, and I'm sitting in a lightning rod called an oak tree. Mind you, the heal marks show where the tree has been struck once, several years ago. I asked myself, do I need to be sitting in this tree?
  5. and can't forget hubby too. You got one above me. Where does the time go?
  6. Nice morning sit before the rain hit a 7:10. Decided to leave the arrows in the quiver this morning and gain some MRA. Quite a bit of communication going on between doe and buck right now, here. I'd say breeding will begin in a week, judging by what I saw, if this weather holds.
  7. Can anyone give a little insight on how good this publication just may be? Is is just more basic facts on what we already know?
  8. Congrats on an awesome archery buck.
  9. LOL, you know what the writer and editor can do with their wide open spaces!
  10. Had this doe come in at 20 yards. She stopped right in line with a twig, so no shot. The second time, she wasn't going to stop, LOL. Very active morning, foggy early here.
  11. I was stuck in the stand till 8:15 tonight.
  12. Moments like those are just so much dang fun. I get just excited seeing the turkey, as seeing a nice mature buck. We'll maybe not quite as much, LOL. Good luck with the Gator. Take it slow and easy. No popping wheelies till it gets broke in. Don't let it get into the swamp or it might just get away from ya, LOL.
  13. My view at 7:26 this morning. This went on for 6 minutes. Very foggy- drizzle.
  14. Good luck Eddie. Know the feeling. We have low ceilings, drizzle, with light NE. winds. Hunting the newly fallen apples here.
  15. I spotted another stand this morning. Ever get that feeling, their is one more spot where a stand belongs? We'll I got that feeling and grabbed a stand out of the barn. Deer have moved into the red clover the last few evenings. I believe the blossoms have seed in them and doe are drawn to eat them. We'll see if my efforts were fruitless.
  16. Tomorrow is the official opener of the " Southern Zone Bow Season.)" ( Like anyone had to be reminded, LOL.) Who's heading out? Who wishes they were? Any thoughts and comments? Good luck to those going a field. Please practice safety first. Enjoy and take a good look around you, for what nature has to offer.
  17. Their starting to show here. After 8 am. pic.. Threw in a supper family pic. also for the regular package price, LOL. Hams!
  18. Nice pics Lawdwaz. I know that power line well.
  19. We'll always have weather, whether or not. I'm just glad to get out there opening day to break in my new license and enjoy the great outdoors. If it gets to warm, I'll just pull a wooly.
